    Last year we had a buck on our land that we thought had CWD. We turned it into the Arkansas game and fish. They sent a biologist to pick up the deer. He told us a story from when he was in college. They tagged 25 bucks with GPS. He said one of the bucks would swim the Mississippi River every year during the fall and spring. Back and forth from Arkansas to Mississippi

    My friend killed a deer with a DNR tracking collar. Once you tag and claim the animal as yours, you are able to see the tracking information. This probably 3.5 year old 8 point traveled about 6 miles in one direction over a short period of time. They move!

    I know for a fact that I have a buck that goes from my property to a buddies property and as a crow flys 2.3 miles straight line. I believe every deer is different and they are just like people in a sense some like to be homebody’s and some like to take early holidays

    Every deer is different. Some are travelers and some are home bodies.

    Have had the same bucks on multiple years where they would go by my cameras same day every year..

      I was gonna say I've had a big 10 point and a couple decent 8's that have stayed pretty tight to the same area for the last few years on public land I personally don't think they travel more than a couple miles. Every year I put my camera out that 10 point is always the first deer I get a picture of in the same spot. I think how far they travel has a lot to do with the kind of area you're in like if there's a lot of wide open spaces it seems like they have a further range than say deer that live in thick area of pines.

    I know from cam pics of one mature buck that has traveled over 3.5 miles last year. Hasn’t showed up on cam to date so I’m thinking the gun hunters killed him late last season?

    If a buck walks past a rub and doesn't hit it,is it his? Will a doe with her pre teen yearling still tagging along with still go into estrous?

    • @danielmahusky5780
      @danielmahusky5780 ปีที่แล้ว

      It very well could be but the same buck will sometimes rub said tree year after year and if a buck hits a tree already rubbed it might have been a different buck first.
      A major reason why bucks make rubs is to leave scent from forehead glands.
      Now as to the doe question no doubt she'll still go into estrus regardless of her doe fawn in tow.
      Also doe fawns come into estrus and are bred too.

      echo what daniel said. The yearling does go into heat late season and are bred in what is called the 2nd phase of the rut ( deer that got missed the first time go back into heat). In my area it's late Dec into Jan.
