Rick is greatest tourist traveler historian philosopher scholar plus food loving nature loving polite nature civilize beautiful kind heart human. I visited almost all European countries. But videos of Rick Steves makes me more Europe loving than before. Love you dear Rick. ❤️❤️❤️❤️💕💕💋
I have been watching Rick Steves like crazy! I am going to Europe in June with some family. We are going to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland for two weeks. It has been a dream of mine since I was young to go to Europe. I just can’t wait to see these amazing countries!
I was in Florence this past summer; after talking to many other tourists, asking about tours they took, and anything they thought was so significant and why I should take the tour they took or asking about something they liked so much and anything they could tell me why it was so significant to them! I was SO DISAPPOINTED in many tourists, they had NO IDEA of what they were looking at, no idea of the effort, the artistic struggle, and no significance of the history of what they just took part! Too many tourists go and learn so little, so many go, just to come home to say" we went to Florence and Rome" just to say they were in Florence and Rome-----and yet they had NO idea of what should have been a fantastic learning experience!
I did not realize, that when I was first starting to travel for fun that your show was new. You gave me the guts to travel without all the support given to me by the people who I worked for. For nearly twenty years I had traveled far and wide as a merchant marine officer. In ports the ship’s agents took care of the crew. On my first vacation trip, to Greece, as I stepped off the plane and realized that there was no ship at the dock to run back to, it was pretty frightening. After that I continued to travel both for pleasure and for non seagoing jobs between shipping out. Your shows, guides and podcasts made sure that I was never frightened again. After another twenty years of going to sea, I retired and traveled the world for two years before COVID stopped me. I settled down in a small mountain city in Mexico to wait things out. Now your podcasts are getting me over my new fears. I am pretty much the sort of person who has never met a stranger. Touring alone is my bag. Your guide to England is great. I have booked my flights to spend a month there and am using the guide to plan my itinerary. And to think that just last month I was saying to a family member that I didn’t know if or when I would travel again.
there is only one place in the world where everyday life is so completely reflected in the sublime, in a wonderful mix of nature and culture........it is Tuscany. Marie-Henri Beyle, Stendhal
Hi Rck~ I am a artist and paint angels, fairys, memaids and Goddesses etc. So My daughter and I had a amazing thing happen in the Duarmo. We were just standing there looking around at the marble floors everywhere. It was pretty empty. ALL OF A SUDDEN WE HEAR A CLICK SOUND! I looked on the floor and there was a PEN!!! From no where! Angels are there for sure!!
We'll have to separate this wonderful episode into installments but thank you so much for reintroducing us to one of our favorite places we've ever been. Salute! (Rick's looking very chill today.)
Just left Florence. Absolutely beautiful. A lot of people, very hot. Wear comfortable shoes and pack your patience. Sitting outside for dinner on a patio having amazing pizza&wine is fun. Walk after and get a gelato and turn any corner and listen to an opera singer or string quartet. Coin had the best coffee/cappuccino. 🇨🇦🍝🍕🍷❤
@ 27:04 you could/should have pointed out that the artist, Benozzo Gozzoli, is depicted in the fresco. Gozzoli's self-portrait is the orange capped head between the two bearded men.
Rick, it's good you have a 2008 Barbaresco, especially the type you can buy in US almost anywhere. But....if you are talking about Florence, why not drink the appropriate wine... a SanGiovese grape, from Tuscany? Say...Biondi Santi ...at least you promote the local wines. No?

Coming from the Czech Republic, I very much appreciate your decision to rename the Central Europe section! Well done!
Looking forward to the series

Fantastic thank you
I went in January of 2008 and it was absolutely wonderful. No crowds, no lines, and much cheaper than peak.
Beautiful home. Rick is such a nice super knowledgeable gentleman
I love and already have one of your KEEP ON TRAVELIN' t-shirts when it was half priced. I'll buy more if/when you make it in additional colors. Txs.
My husband and I saw Rick Steves Europe in Milwaukee. The Milwaukee Symphony and you were fabulous. Can't wait for your return.
I’m going to be in Florence in 2 months. I can hardly wait!
Lucky you
have fun!
Amazing show! Thanks for another great travel experience. Love it.
We love you Rick Steves

Hi Rick saw you and signed my book @ LA travel show😊
Try the Meiomi Cabernet Sauvignon. I’m not saying it will change your life, but it will make it better.
We were there for a week three weeks ago. We visit there every year.
Going to Florence in Jan / Feb 25 🇮🇹
When you go out to dinner with a tour guide, who pays for the dinner? Do you each pay your own way?
When Rick says he didn’t check a bag, does that mean he’s traveling to Europe with only a carry on (and personal item)?
Yes. Take a carry on plus personal item. Don't bring an extra suitcase to check. Travel light, travel smart!
