@@Idontknow-hl5mh Boeing has had a record of safety issues and cutting corners and regulations for their planes and now for going to space. They've killed people with the 737 max specifically from cutting corners and lobbying to skip re training for pilots to be able to sell the aircraft.
SpaceX has a clean safety record and has not cut corners or skirted regulations, they went beyond what was required for testing and outperformed Boeing on this project and still came out cheaper.

Their prices are fixed and based of what NASA paid in the contract. Prices may change after the flights in the contract have been reached and NASA pays per flight. It's unlikely SpaceX will raise the price though, they're happy to just take on more projects and government launches and outcompete ULA and Boeing.

I hope you have done end to end simulations with hardware in the loop. I hope you no longer have single points of failure at a key point during initializations, such as setting a timer. I hope you no longer have single point of failure variables, such as a timer that everything else depends on. I hope you have continuous validations of program state correctness. I hope your state machine has become wide with a nest of alternative paths to success from every state, should the standard path fail at any point. I hope your firmware is able to recover and resume execution from any possible reset (brownouts or EMI-induced).

I said 6 years ago that Starliner would be be good ISS transport vehicle, once they got the systemssorted out. It is designed to be a space tug to raise the ISS's altitude. It is a little bit more roomy than Crew Dragon. Although, Boeing failed in not putting a toilet in it, they can add one later. I was skeptical, from the start, that Starliner would succeed on it's first flight. Boeing should've proposed an orbital flight with a developmental capsule, first. Despite everything, I am anxiously awaiting Starliner's launch.

So much complexity to build. The design seems nothing new from what the early return capsule in the 60s. Whats the new technology introduced to thia starliner anyway? And seems they are taking so much time building it. Soes the failure is because of so much added protocol, excessive safety checks, new procedure and new so much lots of certification needed? I dont see new tech introduce on this capsule aside the boost 10 man design capsule capacity.
