Alien Awakening Is Coming with New Engineers || Official Updates

- After two years since Alien Covenant release, we finally get some really promising news about the sequel. In the last 8 months, many details and subtle clues have come out about the plot of the next alien installment. In addition, a few weeks ago variety magazine reported that Ridley Scott is assigned as a director to the alien sequel.

Let’s first start with Disney Fox deal and how it would affect the future of Alien Franchise. Fox and Disney spent quite a while negotiating and finalizing the acquisition. Now that the merger is done, it was officially reported that Disney spent 71 billion dollars for the acquisition of Fox priorities which include Alien and Predator franchises along with many Marvel-related characters and more.
This is already a good indicator that we are going to see alien movies in the near future and possibly alien tv series. In fact in February 2019 there have been reports about two Alien TV shows in development with Ridley Scott as executive produce which would appear on Hulu streaming service. It will be interesting to see how Ridley can apply tv series format to alien universe since we’ve never seen it done before.
Finally let’s talk about variety magazine report that came out a few weeks ago following the 40th anniversary of alien. They asked Ridley Scoot about future of alien franchise and we actually got an really promising update.
Ridley said that he is talking to Disney about the alien sequel and that the script for this movie is currently being written.
Scott is also already assigned as a director so I think it’s fair to say that we can expect more updates in the near future.
However I think we might see the tv series first before the sequel and I don’t think the tv series will be related to the movie. it’s highly likely that they will be focused on xenomorphs while alien awakening will be connecting david and engineers storyline to the original alien of 1979.
Also at CinemaCon 2019, Disney executives officially confirmed that they do have plans to continue alien films, which is really exciting news.
In Novemeber 2018, more details have come out about the plot of Alien Awakening coming from Alien Covenant screenwriter John Logan during an interview with Empire Magazine. According to him, the story will follow android David who will be perused by vengeful engineers after they discovered that he committed genocide on their planet. The chase would lead to LV-426 where a battle between Engineers and David’s army of xenomorphs will take place. Based on that description, Alien Awakening will most likely finally connect prequels to the original alien of 1979.
Obviously the script might change in the writing process but even from this shot summary, we can extract some important detail that gives us a bigger context. If the engineers will be persuing David, they will have to operate a juggernaut or another type of the ship which is probably beyond the abilities of people from the planet 4.
In Alien Covenant, humanoid beings who lived on the planet 4 were amazed when they saw David’s ship, which indicates that their technology is far behind whatever was left on LV-223.
Therefore If in Alien Awakening we’ll see engineers chasing David they cannot be the survivors from the planet 4 instead There are two possibilities of what kind of engineers we’re going to see.
The first possibility is that Alien Awakening will feature a completely different group of engineers that we haven’t seen previously. Since nobody came to LV-223 after the accident to destroy the virus or rescue what was left then it’s highly likely that there are no more Engineers left or that kind. In this case I think that the engineers who will be chasing David would be the space jockey type of Engineers.
Since the space jockey in Alien of 1979 was way bigger than the engineer in Prometheus, it may indicate that these are two different races of Engineers or that the space Jockeys created Prometheus Engineers.
The second one is that the engineers chasing David would be an advanced version of Engineers that we saw in Prometheus. Since the accident happened about 2 thousand years ago and assuming there were still more engineers left on other plants, their technology should have significantly advanced. The planet 4 was a biological experiment or a seeded planet just like Earth so once the actual engineers return and see what David did they will pursue him to stop the spread of the xenovirus that he is perfecting. In this case LV 223 was a closed military based that was abandoned 2000 years ago. During that time the Engineers should have significantly advanced to the point that in Alien Awakening they will look very different from Prometheus Engineers. - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน

Alien covenant is Prometheus 2.....even if it was named Prometheus 2 instead of covenant, the story would still be somewhat the same. The time between Prometheus and covenant isn't a movie worthy story alone anyway

@@paulfahy9101 the plot of prequels focused on questions that never ment to be answered: once they are, the mysticism of the series is gone. The viewers will keep coming to see new movies in the franchise till the hope of getting answers is alive.
They had a great jumping off point for a series of movies but screwed it all up in this furtive effort to connect the Space Jockey to the Engineers. It could have been Lara Croft in space, a well written series based upon our mythology, but killing Elizabeth off killed off my interest.

Once the dust has settled on the fox merger I think the next company in Disney's crosshairs will be Hasbro. Disney already has a strong merch relationship with Hasbro so why not go one better and own the means of production plus acquire transformers and a heap of under developed intellectual properties and apply the MCU formula to a Hasbro toy box cinematic universe. In the 80s marvel and Hasbro had an extremely close business relationship during the golden age of advertainment in Saturday morning cartoons.

I love the Engineer lore. I think Prometheus is a great movie, but I was slightly disappointed with Covenant. It seemed to water down the Engineer story to fit in the Xenomorphs and make it an Alien film. I hope Awakening explains more about the Engineers, so we have a good understanding of their civilization.

Agreed. Covenant ended up a compromise of the movie Ridley wanted to make and the movie the stuido demanded he make. Since the backlash toward Prometheus centered on there not being enough "Aliens" (face huggers..chest bursters etc.) Covenant became this slapped together mess that had to dumb down the version Ridley hoped to make in order to deliever more of the same tired old story that the public cried for. Then of course when Covenant came out...the criticisms were that the movie didnt do enough to answer the questions posed in Prometheus. It was a dammed if you do...dammed if you dont scenario. I love the original story arc Ridley had in mind and I hope he does get to realise his vision and tell the complete story...but with Disney in control now I hold little faith that we will get anything worthwhile. Disney ruin everything they get their hands on. Sure they may generate billions of dollars...but simply because soemthing makes a ton of money does not mean that its quality.

I love the engineers storyline and would love to watch movies detailing their history. I wasn't a fan of the original Alien movies, but adding more lore made the franchise worth watching for me.

It's because they've aged poorly. I still love ALL 4 original movies, but I know that's just nostalgia. Everytime I try to get someone to watch them they fall asleep.

The series isn't getting better with more in depth detail, it's only becoming more diluted. It should have stopped after Aliens and the prequels should have stopped at Prometheus. I love the idea that the elephantine Space Jockeys are the true pinnacle species, and the Engineers’ spacesuits are just a tribute to their creators.
Regardless of what some say about Prometheus and Covenant, I really want to see this film trilogy wrapped up. I look forward to seeing how Ridley ties it all together. And I'm glad we'll be getting more from the franchise beyond that, just hope it's good.

I'm excited they are are actually making it. I was thinking that we might not get a conclusion to this trilogy because the box office for these films wasn't maybe as good as they wanted them to be, so I'm pumped!!

I think the Engineer at the start of Prometheus is a different faction than the Engineer at the end of Prometheus. Seems the warlike Engineers invaded the "Holiest of Holies", a black goo that was controlled, without incident, by the religious Engineers. That's my take, anyway.
They were a DNA offshoot and not the same beings as engineers; much like humans were to the engineers. The engineers seeded that planet because that’s what they do and these beings evolved to look like engineers but are not entirely the same race or technology level. Another experiment.

I like the plot for "Alien Awakening" that Kroft described - it could be a very interesting movie. But since this video was posted over a year ago, I haven't heard a thing about any Alien projects in development, let alone production. This video was the first time I heard of any Alien TV series as well. Obviously I'm fascinated by the Engineers, given that I have used "Spacejockey" as my cyberspace handle since the Internet went commercial. As such, I would definitely be interested learning more about them, whether it be through film or TV.

I ALWAYS noticed the ORIGINAL SPACE JOCKY in 1979's Alien was MUCH BIGGER than the Prometheus Engineers.
Yeah the one in alien looked to be around 10-12 feet tall. Where as the ones in Prometheus were about 8 feet.

I liked all of the alien franchise, they never let me down whether stories connected to sequels or not, they never went from good to bad, like, uh...for example: Anything and everything after Terminator 2 Franchise was nothing but fucked 7 x the power of 7 ways to Sunday, without ever recovering. I can see the judge asking Terminator fans in court, while begrudgingly looking at James Cameron, “Show the court, on the T-800 model Kaye’s before you, where the proceeding terminator franchise, post T2, hurt you.”
Now with the intro to the Engineers in the Alien franchise, man it takes this awesome franchise to a whole new level. I loved Prometheus and Covenant. Getting to know the origins of the Aliens, and now very interested in learning more of the Engineers, though, they seem to come off as an advanced race of what is essentially Puritans, the story still holds up.
Man I really love your prometheus/aliens videos . What has been put in place in prometheus is purely genius and the elements that were introduced could led to fully of possibilities. The engineers are so interesting , even if it is only movies, I can imagine this as our possible story of creation . All this also fit really well in the alien/predator universe it’s dark and mysterious and it gives me many ideas of script or stories to make with the the creation of the man by the engineers , the creation of the aliens by david and even the totally mysterious origin of the engineers and of what they used to create life. The story has so much potential and I can see many different ways of doing it even if I’m not at all a specialist in scriptwriting or any movie réalisation. I love cinema , but even if i’m not studying in it , It gives me the will to create the perfect story . But it’s probably out of my competences right now and it would take me years. What I want to say is , if done right , I know that a pure dark and complex masterpiece can be made out of what’s been left . You’re doing a great job , thanks.Your videos always make me exited by this universe and it’s potential . It even makes me question myself about our existence has a specie. Sorry if I’m doing mistake , it isn’t my mother language

The biggest mistake in movies, these days, is killing off the main character - John Connor, Luke Skywalker, Elizabeth Shaw... Mistake, mistake, mistake. The end of PROMETHEUS offered so much potential for a follow up.

At 6:24 you assume that the humanoid engineers living on planet 4 David genocides are "amazed" at the ship above them-thus the technology as well. I think it is totally possible that they were just curiously happy about what was going on, and could have very well had similar technology. Just sayin.
