- After a little break since releasing some hefty projects (Dancing Mad and the FFVI Complete Soundtrack, in case you haven't seen them!), I'm back with a classic, nothing fancy but one I've wanted to get out for some time, since people always give me grief for having recorded the jumpy version of Not Alone from the Piano Collections. Just kidding! I know some of you enjoyed it, but there's something about this calm version that brings back good memories from the game for a lot of you. I played the game as a kid but really should play again- I don't remember much at all :(
After several years of making videos, I can say my recording quality is satisfactory, but I still hate on myself for the quality of the video. It's dull and uninteresting in my opinion. I need to up my game in the dress/hair category and get some better lights. Trying to do every aspect of these videos is extremely hard- preparing, recording, filming, editing- that I sometimes dread it. I don't want to feel that way making videos because I love the responses I get and think I could work harder to make a better presentation! Sorry for the public confession...it feels good to get it out.
I'm thankful to say that a long time follower of mine, Ninjafish, has offered to help me put together my videos after I film them. This is the first one he made! It saved me so much time, and I'm so grateful to have people like him willing and able to help me when needed. So, thank you!! - เพลง

It's crazy how different this version is from the piano collections one. Both have their own merits, but this is definitely more nostalgic for me. Absolutely beautiful playing!

I've always loved how "You're Not Alone" only plays _once_ in the entire game, and it feels different from everything else in the soundtrack. Its entire sequence hits really hard in the feels.

I have goosebumps. Umatesu's masterpiece. Zidane's journey of self-discovery and identity had just come to a head, and he needed time alone to find himself. The music sets the scene perfectly.
He had been there for everyone else the whole game and didn't realize the effect he had on them. That they were there for him too.
10/10. Best I’ve watched-listened in a while. Love this song and love your interpretation. Favorite YT channel from now on.
Quite possibly the best song, from what i consider the greatest scene in the entire series. You're rendition is absolutely stunning.
You said in the description that you should play the game again, and to that I absolutely agree.
I played it when it first came out, when i was in middle school. I enjoyed it, but every few years I play it again. I've played it 6-7 times at this point, and every time I find myself appreciating it more and more. Its my favorite game, and for me nothing else comes close.
I got tears and chills listening to this one. Absolutely beautiful. The way you opened this song was so melancholic; exactly how I always perceived how Zidane felt at this point in the game. The progression was spot on, with an upbeat middle and climax, once again how I perceived how Zidane felt once his friends encouraged him. And then the tempo changed again, but rather than feeling melancholic, it felt peaceful. Thank you for so aptly performing the music to such an important scene of my favorite FF character!

Does make me wonder if You're Not Alone was recurring in the game more, in calmer moments. COOL! But 2:48 always almost takes the breath away, and you really feel the banding together.

Lol...there are VERY few youtube channels where I actively get impatient waiting for a new video to post. Kara's is one of them :-).
I sometimes feel that FFIX doesn't get enough love. It's a really terrific game. Not QUITE as 'best game of all time' that games it is overshadowed by are, like FFVI, Chrono Trigger, and FFVII. But it's really, really good. I've played it through twice. Might revisit it this winter. The score is excellent. I listen to it all the time.

I've never heard this version of Not Alone, kind of surprising since I've experienced so many. So much interesting aural texture. I even heard a part in there, near the middle, that sounded like a melancholy portion of Treno's theme. That super polyphonic part near the end, before it calms down again, is absolutely fascinating. You pulled it off masterfully. Thank you for this.

As I'm sure I've expressed on your twitch before, FFIX is my all time favourite game. And this is my favourite track from this game. You've captured the original so beautifully in this version. It brings back the nostalgia and makes me want to go and replay the entire game again (for the thousandth time!)!

I really like this sensitive and delicious interpretation. Interestingly, before I even read the description of the video I thought to myself as I watched it that the audio quality was really great, just like the video, with angles always well chosen. It is absolutely not boring. So I must also congratulate Ninjafish. Last thing: the hairstyle is perfect. Keep it up!

This is the first time I heard the piano version, and I like the way you deal with the transition part. This is another example that sometimes a piano solo version is better than an orchestra version.

I can relate to the imposter syndrome cited in your vid description, but IMO instead of "dull" I'd say tranquil and soothing... sometimes I enjoy just seeing someone simply playing a final fantasy song on piano and don't need more, especially when played so well. It brings me warm feelings of my mom playing piano or playing/watching FFIX with family
I do think that if something is performed well, it doesnt need a huge show about it. I agree with you there. I'm gonna keep trying to improve but also take what you say to heart so I dont let it get me down! Thank you :)

Your videos don't have to be showy to be good! I usually just listen to the music and soak it in with my eyes closed. If I look at the screen, it's because I'm trying to figure out the fingering for the piece

I feel you re: the public confession.
It is a lot of do everything on top of playing. People assume you just record and that’s it, but it’s exhausting. I’m sure it would get more views if I would put more emphasis into editing but it’s truly exhausting - so instead, I post and go LOL
Anyway, I love this version. One of the best songs from IX.

Another great FFIX song by the very talented Kara ! The look you have in the video is good, yes there's always room for improvement people will say, but it will come little by little. Now that you are aware of it you can improve, but for me the every video is good as long as the music is good :)

This version sounds much sadder, as if someone reminisce the old tragic days. It's pretty since it gives you some nostalgic vibes while the original track from the game feels like that it's made just for this intense and deciding moment. I like both versions for what they are standing since in the end it is the same fantastic track. :)
PS: the jumpy version has its own sneaky, trickery charme and was well executed, but I prefer either the original and your new melancholic version more!

This isn't one of my favorite Final Fantasy games, but the FFIX soundtrack is easily a top 5 soundtrack IMO.
