I love Nobuo's town themes. He has a way of evoking simplicity--like the simplicity of country/village life, where time moves much slower than in a big metropolis, and for all the conveniences it doesn't have, it has a serenity to it that is hard to describe. When I listen to this, I can almost feel the country breeze. If I listened at night, I bet I could almost hear the crickets and cicadas.😌❤
I live in New Hampshire and was just thinking about how lovely and calm and amazing it is here. I’m very blessed to live here and soak in nature. Listening to this while I respond to comments and sit outside in the breeze- perfection!!
Absolutely. Since the very earliest Final Fantasy games, his 'town' themes have always evoked a simple, pastoral nature that's just so soothing. Helps the player to know when they are at least sort of safe for a while :-).
The only thing missing from the original for this theme was that it's so peaceful, but contextually, what is going on in Dali is kinda screwed up... in that way, the little transition in Kara's version (esp starting around 2:25) feels a bit more accurate and Uematsu could have definitely included something subtle in the harmony to express the mystery underneath Dali. Unfortunately, Uematsu's setting compositions are, in a way, like backdrops; they're static. They rarely include what is contextually happening in a place, especially in the case of somewhere like Dali, where you only really visit once and for the express purpose of uncovering the first Vivi mystery. Listen to the Black Mage Village track (another Vivi mystery place)... it's just a variation on Vivi's Theme, but it doesn't include any of the sadness of the fact that these mage clones are "stopping". The track honestly sounds like it belongs in Donkey Kong Country.
@@ulengrau6357 this is the piano collections version which is wonderful. I think that’s the point of the music though- we were supposed to be lulled into thinking this is a peaceful village with nothing wrong. I think if there was any discord, it would’ve ruined the illusion.
I could never imagine the power of this music could bring me back to being 13 in an instant. These songs help me connect with a version of myself long lost, and with emotions I can no longer feel on my own anymore. Thank you for this.
These are my favorite Final Fantasy tracks when played on piano. The calm, kind of simple pieces. Some people like hearing One Winged Angel on piano but it's too busy. I go for the village and town themes.
100% agree. One Winged Angel is meant to be played on an orchestra, not a single piano. CT's Wind Scene, LoZ:TP's Midna's Lament and FF9's The Place I'll Return To Someday are my favorite songs when arranged and played on piano. There are way too many to actually list though!
This music is a window to the past long long lost. There is no way back there. But this music keeps playing deep inside as a warm reminder of these blessed places inside of Square Enix games. I am an artist myself, and this music guides me to the new worlds, as the only way now - is the way forward. Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy music is my beacon. Thank you, Kara, I feel you're deeply connected to this music too
I remember reaching Dali late at night. I ended up falling asleep hearing this tune cause it's so peaceful and cozy. Thank you for yet another great cover Kara
When I was a kid, I was playing FF9. I didn't know English very well... I just followed what the game told me. Until the day I arrived in Dali, this song touched me in a way that I remember until today... Even without understanding a word that was written in the texts, I fell in love with this game
I am Japanese. ff9 is my favorite, but I like this song so much that it ranks in the top 5 in ff9. Thank you very much. (No.1 is Rose of May of mine) By the way, next week I am going to see a $12,000 FF6 "Magic Armor" figure at a place called Roppongi in Tokyo. I'm going to enjoy it while thinking about the feelings of you, the overseas fans.
Wow that sounds amazing, I hope you enjoy it 😱 and thank you so much- this piece has definitely grown on me over the years. I wish I hadn’t taken this long to record it!
Kara, as a master of the piano, I have listened to you for some time now. This performance of the Frontier Village by Uematsu is brilliant. Your interpretation of this music is amazing. The growth of your piano skills are amazing. A true master transfers the feelings and emotion of the music to the listener and it takes us to a higher level of music appreciation.
Well, this just took me back to one of my favourite Final Fantasy games. Just listening to this piece had my memories rushing back to me of my teenage days. Beautifully played! Thank you
thank you for posting this. your music is fantastic to have on when i'm writing and hearing you play songs from some of my favorite games has made me smile more than i could have ever expected.
just now finding this a year later and wow - such a huge fan now! Uematsu would be proud, this is such a beautiful rendition - thank you for your talent!
It's wonderful, whenever I play Final fantasy 9,i remember the village of Dali with warmth, especially the chocobos in the backyard.Great work Kara,i will wait for more compositions from my favorite JRPG universe, thanks a lot)
I adore the piano soundtrack from FFIX! Sleepless City Treno, Jesters of the Moon, You're Not Alone, Vamo Alla Flamenco, The Place I'll Return To Someday, Loss of Me, Melodies of Life... there's just so many great songs to choose from. I have to admit this one wasn't on my radar, but I really enjoy it. One of the things that's always drawn me to your channel over other youtubers who play final fantasy music is that you have great taste and can pick out these unsung heroes and odd gems that are underappreciated and make them shine. That's exactly what you've done here. Love it!
@@KaraComparetto I would LOVE to hear what you could do with that. I think that'd be a great song for to fuse a little Bach or Chopin into. There's a lot of covers out there, but not a lot of good quality piano covers (most are synthesizers) and all of them play the song very straight forward. If you were to do your thing on that song it would definitely set you apart and head and shoulders above everyone else playing the piano.
Somehow after watching your amazing performance I thought "I think I can play it too" even though I stopped piano 10y ago and never had this level of skill to begin with. And after weeks of intense practice, I actually managed to just do that! So yeah, now I have a repertoire of 1 piece 🎉 But I'm not stopping there! Thank you for rekindling my interest in piano 🙏
I am so lucky that I have found your channel. I am slowly going through all your videos, savouring each one and being mesmerized by your performance. Wow! At 70, I never thought that just a piano could evoke such emotions in me; whether I watch your fingers dance on the keyboard or your smile as you play or just close my eyes and listen closely. Some of your music bring back such happy memories. Thank you.
I love this song... Final Fantasy had so much heart in it. I loved the first visit to Dali, the BEST part of the game. Such a great story. Vivi gave me the feels something fierce. We are all magically broken sometimes in our lives. Being at a place and time with the cast of FF9 was very healing. So you sweet rosy cheeked young lady. Thank you for this walk down memory lane.
Beautifully performed! And such a wonderful piece. I echo those who've already pointed out Uematsu's fantastic town themes; the feelings they evoke and how soothing and calming they are.
I started to learn piano this year inspired by final fantasy musical pieces, so love this video! Been watching your videos for a couple of years, thanks for the music!
I will always remember this theme and thank you so much for an amazing piano performance! The version I performed for my music exam in college was for 2 pianos. I remember practising a lot as I really wanted to go to university and continue studying music. Your solo performance made me remember this memorable experience :)
Beautiful interpretation, the sound it's really gorgeous thank you for sharing your passion and make me feel I have to come back to back play piano 🙌♥️
wonderful Kara :) I know those pieces might not be complex or challenging or whatever for an experienced player. But for many out there these pieces have a high value - The tune of games we played in our youth or childhood, brings back so many good memories. Therefore we love those pieces and hold them in our heart, good times......and against love nothing can seriously compete ;) Thank you.

I too have a soft spot for the calmer pieces. Like J-E-N-O-V-A

Yay, one of my faves from IX. Some really interesting movements going on here beyond the main theme that repeats. Very nice! 😊
Yeah this arrangement rocks, i wouldn't change a thing about it
Instrumental music of Final fantasy is I think the major reason why I have a soft spot and love for instrumental music always.
In the whole of youtube I still love your performances of FF piano collections the most.
Wow thank you 😭😭♥️

Great!! Thanks for making this music available. It’s always a pleasure to listen to your selections.
Probably my favorite of all the "Town" tracks. I could listen to a playlist of all the town tracks on shuffle for an entire lazy Sunday morning.
Yeah nobuo definitely had a knack for town themes😂
Giving me goosebumps! Thank you for doing one of my favorite pieces from one of my favorite games 🥰
