Nicely done, gentleman. Although a hood wash with a high powered spray nozzle might have been a good idea. But all in all, it does work and looks better, although I have never seen one pristine at a job site, always looked like the concrete it made.

the best material to loosen concrete stuck in the mixer is chloridic acid mix with water 2 to 10, after a few minutes needs a good hosing preferably with a high-pressure hose, no banging is needed

Fantastic. i have learnt good lessons. i want to restore my mixer using your method. but i need to get a big pulley for the mixer abt 20 diameter inches as my engine is a diesel 3.5 hp to upscale the power as the engine has a 6 inch single- belt size B Vee pulley. let me know if this will be in order. i believe the speed is not important in a mixer but rather ther power driving it.

"Not bad huh". But biggest flaw - welding. Bowl full of concrete weights about half of tonn, with such welding it'll crack again in no time.

    • @InstrucTube
      @InstrucTube 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Was just coming here to say that. It would have been MUCH better to cut it all free and do a full re-weld rather than just welding the cracks.

There is so much wrong with this, and nothing of it has to do with limited capabilities. Granted, you will never get sheet metal 100% straight, but that's beside the point.
You did an okay job disassembling, however, spend more time cleaning up the parts, especially bolts. Your paint preparation sucked, even if we ignore finish here (it's not a museum piece after all). Timestamps:
13:11 the bearing seat is not taped and gets paint on it
13:28 the main sprocket on the drum is not taped and gets painted. This is probably not your fault as it had paint on it already, but as a general rule you should *never* paint gears, they rub all the time and destroy the finish anyways. Polish them with sandpaper, scotch brite and a wire wheel and coat them in a thick layer of grease (which the operator has to reapply every now and then). Rust and wear protection all in one.
15:29 the shaft is not covered up and gets painty. Tape some paper or plastic to it, and grease the living hell out of it when reinstalling.
17:33 it's no wonder you completely destroyed the pulley. Don't use an impact gun on this tool, it has too much power. If things won't come loose, use penetrating fluid. That's cheaper than a new pulley.
21:01 Don't paint the motor all in one, you are getting paint everywhere. Disassemble the sides and use paper or plastic to sufficentily cover all inside areas and the shafts. The way you did it fused the parts together making the motor basically impossible to service should the need arise.
24:09 you washed a way all the grease, but did not replace it (at 29:36)
26:35 bearing installation, as has been commented, it's okayish, I would have done similar but use a block of wood between the hammer and the bearing.
26:43 You need to hammer that on because you didn't tape the axle. The built up paint makes the axle now too thick and the bearing has to scrape away the paint. Not only is this a waste of material but you're also going to damage the new bearing.
27:54 the mating surfaces of the shaft visible should not be painted but instead greased. Once again, tape it up.
29:20 the paint on the stud makes it impossible to secure the bracket with nuts.
30:05 here is probably the best point in the video that illustrates how paint gets in the way. the keys are machined to be a tight fit and even a minimal layer of paint destroys that. The Key should be inserted in the shaft before pressing (or in this case hammering) the large pulley on. You destroy your (obviously bad) by banging on the key. The new bearings you installed won't like that.
32:44 This is a crown nut and the bolt you installed it on should have a hole in it so you could pass a wire through. In this way you secure the nut from loosening itself. Not installing it could be dangerous.
33:00 I don't know what country you are in, but in Europe we have CEE sockets designed to be fitted onto machinery. They are blue and accept "special" extension cords. There are also machine-mountable male type C sockets in which you can plug in extension cords. it would be better to replace this cord with a setup like this, seeing as it is already very beaten up, and you are guaranteed to roll over the cable at one point or another.
33:46 Also, the extension cord you are using begs for electricution, but it's not my live, so, do whatever floats your boat.
All in all, this is not a restoration but at best a paint job including the replacement of consumables - and also the paint job is a shitty one. You don't show the paint used but I can guarantee you that without primer nothing is going to stick well to the metal. Even if you would have used primer, it would have been useless because of all the residual concrete and paint that's left on the surfaces. When it comes to painting, surface preperation is everything. I give this paint at maximum six months before it falls off the mixer, even if it's not in use. Please educate yourself, it's not that hard on youtube.
