No instruments. They are a cappella which means no instruments. It’s all with their mouths. Their beatboxer, Adam, was doing the drums, harmonica and other sounds with his mouth. Chance, back left, was doing the “mouth harp” sound. They are all amazingly talented boys. The bass, Tim, has a 5 octave range and can sing super low and then sing up with the tenors. Good one you two! You should check out their Christmas songs.

It's all beatboxing. Adam Rupp is their beatboxer. There are videos out where he has a solo performance. React to one to get an idea of what he can actually do. The mouth harp sound was by Adam Chance (Chance). The group left to right - front row; Rob Lundquist, tenor; center, Austin Brown, high tenor; right, Tim Foust, bass to tenor (5 octave range). Back row; left, Adam Chance (Chance), bass/baritone to tenor (4 octave range), Adam Rupp, beatboxer, also sings tenor when not beatboxing. They all can beatbox to a degree, so there are two bass, 5 tenors and 5 beatboxers. That expands what they can perform to more than one category of music. They do country, folk, pop, doo wop, rock, rap, and more in their performances. They can make you laugh or cry, pause to think about a subject of their song, or dance to the beat. React to videos of their live performances to get an idea of what they can actually do.

They layer their non-live videos, but it is all voice. If they don't the instrument would be obvious. They aren't trying to hide anything. Peace, Love!!

They use instruments once in awhile. If they use instruments (usually guitar), they are plainly seen. Skull and Bones or So Long, Dixie are examples. In this video, it's all vocally produced. I've heard them sing this live and it's great. It's a cover of a song that was written around 1910ish. It's most known for being used in the movie Brother Where Out Thou.

The song was originally published in 1913 and later covered by Bob Dylan & Joan Baez among others. There are NO instruments - it's all done vocally. They all can beatbox (not to Adam Rupp's extent of course). Watch their live videos "9-5 + beatboxing breakdown" or "Joy to the World Hosannah" to see them do so!

Straight acapella. No instruments of any kind. The song was written by a partially blind fiddle player, named Dick Burnett. The Kentucky native wrote the semi-autobiographical song around 1913.

They never use instruments in their music.
