M. Badian: Profiles for Trombone

PROFILES: I. First Profile; II. Second Profile; III. Third Profile - are unified by the continued use of augmented fourths, sevenths, and semitones. The virtuosity requested of the performer by this piece is entirely based on the trombone’s characteristics and sound.
PROFILES for trombone solo was commissioned to Maya Badian by the International Competition for Young Performers, Vercelli, Italy, in 1978.
