In 1994, Tom Veitch, along with Kevin J Anderson, continued the Tales of the Jedi series with a darker mood. Kevin J Anderson helped create the origin story of Exar Kun, who previously appeared as a Sith spirit in Dark Apprentice and Champions of the Force. Following this comic series, Tom Veitch passed the torch to Anderson to continue the Tales of the Jedi series.

Ulic is such a great character. He really never fell to the dark side, everything happened beyond his own control and yet he had such a tragic ending

@@seanbrunsvig9100 Exar and Ulic wage war against the Republic for a few years. Exar uses his enslaved Massasi as well a bunch of corrupted Jedi (including Jolee Bindo's wife from KOTOR if you played that game), and Ulic gains the support of Mandalore the Indomitable and the Krath from the planet Empress Teta. The Jedi lose the planet Ossus thanks to a solar flare ritual performed by the Sith. Ulic and Exar betray Aleema and Crado for being weak or for betrayal. Eventually Ulic kills Cay and becomes so distraught he's brought back to his senses and Nomi severs his connection to the Force. He then tells the Jedi about Exar's base on Yavin 4 and they invade with a fleet too large for Exar to handle. He performs a ritual to preserve his spirit at the cost of his own life, and is forever trapped in his tomb until years after Luke Skywalker starts his Jedi academy at the very same temple.
The series also goes into the origins of the Sith Empire during the Golden Era of the Sith 5000 years before the movies, and the origins of Odan-Urr as a young Jedi Knight. It also delves into the story of Ulic redeeming himself by training Vima Sunrider to be a Jedi on Rhen Var (basically the Last Jedi if it was good, Ulic is even presented the same way as Jake Skywalker except it makes sense for his character) and he finally becomes one with the Force at the end proving that he was indeed a Jedi. @@seanbrunsvig9100 Well, it's quite an adventure so I think you SHOULD read it. But I'll give some vague spoilers: A battle begins against the Sith and the Jedi, and while Exar delves deeper into darkness, Ulic begins to doubt his allegiances.
Great job on editing the comic sections together with the original audio from the 90s.
All these Tales of the Jedi audio dramas are absolutely fantastic, the Omnibus editions of the comics too!
What a shame they never turned Golden Age of the Sith, The Sith War and all the other chapters into audio dramas.
Hopefully some fans will create it one day.

This was so FUCKING AWESOME! WAY better than the sequel trilogy and how the Sith came to be! I loved the audio and wish there be more now! Sad this was the last of the series just when I was started to get hooked up and wanted to know what happens next!

Using the Grievous music during Ulic and Exar's duel fits perfectly

Exar Kun magnificent the power of the Dark Lord of the Sith of his time and I do not know if you are aware but Exar Kun and also Ulic Qel Droma became Canon
I had this comic series in the 90’s I miss the old expanded universe.

A gentle tug with the force can Short Circuit the droids? And why didn't the Jedi think of this during the Clone wars? It would have been over in a few weeks
Doing that to one droid is all fine and dandy, maybe a dozen, but there were like thousands deployed on the battlefield
Love your audio comics MrPoke! I actually just collected all of them in CD form (including the original trilogy radio dramas) and the syncing of these remastered versions to the comic panels is superb!! If you ever need a voice actor for any of the future audio dramas you were thinking about making let me know I’d be more than happy to lend my vocal chords :)

My favorite part of Exar Kun was resistant to the dark side unless his life was in danger until he killed Freedon Nadd.
Did they completly removed work "Krath" from audiobook? Made those Thetans a bit unique as a darksiders go.

He didn’t make these, he just edited the pre-existing audio dramas. They were made in the 90’s (I believe) and they never did the Golden Age arc. They stopped with this one

@@dzvwnthey added in some stuff at the beginning of this one that was from Golden Age like the holocron talking about Naga Sadow, but never the full comic. I hope someone uses elevenlabs and tries to finish that last 3 stories because Tales of the Jedi deserves to be finished.

The story continues in Tales of the Jedi: The Sith War and concludes with the Tales of the Jedi: Redemption comic books. There are no more audio dramas, unfortunately. I'd recommend reading Tales of the Jedi: Golden Age of the Sith and Tales of the Jedi: Fall of the Sith Empire comics, they're prequels that take place before The Beast Riders of Onderon.

Hatred,anger,fear,and thirst for power all are the things of which the dark side of the force is made. Just as fear isn't the opposite of courage but merely the catalyst of courage. The fear is what gives meaning to acts of courage. The ability to act eventhough you are afraid gives meaning to your actions

So many voice actors are uncredited on the cd cases, however all voices were listed for the previous TOTJ audiodrama cds. My guess is that Jim Ward (Master Arca's voice) voices Vodo Bass

This sucks to have a cartoon being read to you instead of showing an actual cartoon when it's supposed to be a movie instead and that's his respectful as I can say Yeah when they give them those shot treatments
The ads are extremely excessive and annoying, sometimes minutes long too which is taking liberties imo. Spoiled the experience badly.
