Most vocal coaches will tell you that if you actually take care of you voice from a very young age and if you do everything right , you should enter your vocal prime in your late 30s/ early 40s ( 35-45ish should be her golden years vocally )

brandy isn’t a contralto... she doesn’t have an androgynous voice that they’re known for. her voice is very feminine, unlike tracy chapman who’s a contralto

Brandy is a lyric mezzo soprano her voice is too feminine to be a contralto. Honestly she probably is actually a light soprano. She doesn't like her head voice so she sings lower in the beginning so that she can belt in her chest voice in the climax of the song when she goes higher without ever cracking or straining.
