Bellissimo! Lo avevo in VHS. Me lo aveva prestato un mio carissimo amico direttore (ora, purtroppo scomparso) Domenico Cieri, e mi aveva affascinato per la tenerezza espressa da tutti e per la incomparabile bravura di Bernstein!
Amazing how versatile LB was - he can be conducting a pickup orchestra like this for one minute and then jetsetting overseas to conduct an opera in LaScala or Mahler in Vienna....
@amjhutton actually the name of it is not Tonight, The 2nd song in this specific video is called " Balcony Scene " ... " Tonight " is later on in the actual show ( earlier in this recording session )
Carreras is not terrible...it's just that he is not suited for playing tony, the jet from the streets. he has an operatic voice and is not in my opinion meant for this.
leonard bernstein got tired, but he never got tired of his work. a man married to music.
I never get tired of the songs from Westside story! They`re all so wonderfully witty, and the music is just wonderful.
So true
The very best I have ever heard and I am a West Side Story megafan of the movie. Those voices are the purest and most beautiful
September 26th 1957 Winter Garden Theatre, how I wish I was there.
That is gorgeous.
I love that Ms. Troyanas wore an elegant evening dress to a recording session. I’m sure it brought her confidence.
TimonyEr. You bet these guys are opera singers. They are the very best in this field. That's why Leni chose them.
