I still find it hilarious that it took only the first loop for Phil to seduce Nancy, but over 100 attempts, plus tons of time studying, to get Rita. If anything, that means Nancy is more compatible with Phil.
it means he would have been lucky with Nancy, but the trouble with Rita will go on the next day. In real life, persons like Rita are a littel too much egocentric and never satisfied. They are toxic.
Everyone talks about many years he spent reliving the day. Based on this snippet, it was at least 100 years for this one conversation just to get him to please her without being turned off by any offbeat comment.
My must watch every Groundhog Day - was working in Frederick MD in 2006 and every day we went back to the hotel the movie was playing - the same scene - unreal
Must have been interesting for all involved in making this movie, with multiple takes and each one slightly different. Very original, and one of Bills best efforts next to Ghostbusters, IMO.
Trapped in a cycle like this would be a hellish nightmare, but wouldn't it be nice to have one cycle to correct all the bonehead and offensive things you did?
"What should we drink to?" "Wait...no matter what you say, I'm going to act disappointed that you didn't say world peace, because that's what a good virtue signaler does!"
To be honest I love Bill Murray, I love this film but as a native Frenchman I didn't understand a word of what he said, I guess he was quoting a poet. Anyway in the French version he speaks Italian.
"La fille que j'aimerai [something something] chaque matin". That's what i understood in the video. Googling it, it seems that he was quoting a song by Jacques Brel. " La fille que j'aimera Sera comme bon vin Qui se bonifiera Un peu chaque matin" (which in english would be "The girl i'll be in love with Will be like a great wine Becoming even better A little bit more every morning".) This is from a song called "La bourrée du célibataire", which is clearly not Brel's most famous song. What is weird, though is that this song is definitely not french (french people do know Jacques Brel's songs very well, but he was belgian, not french) and also clearly not from the nineteenth century. To ensure the lyrics rhyme Jacques Brel says "La fille que j'aimera" instead of "La fille que j'aimerai", which is a clear conjugation mistake but it cannot really be translated in english.
That last "Oui" as he blinks with a smile... the incomparable Bill Murray.
"How do you know so much about Punxsutawney?"
"I spend a lot of time here "
😂😂😂😂😂
The face of that bartender is gold.
Best scene of the movie. lmao
I was thinking it was more of a sandalwood color
“HA! What a waste of time!” 😂😂😂
He was correct in his assessment.

exactly, Nancy is more compatible with Phil at that stage of Phil's development.
@@nurbsfoto Any stage. One woman takes just one cycle to get, while the other takes dozens or hundreds.
No Nancy was easy
He never ‘gets’ Rita in the same sense as he ‘gets’ Nancy btw, which is a good thing

Bill Murray is so awesome there can only one Bill Murray!!!
I love this movie. Cheers me up everytime
You mean, every day?

What shall we drink for? For the groundhog!😅 I lmao😅

Does anyone know the beautiful orchestra piece in the background?
I’m here for the 🍺 + brats-

100% nightmare after a year... everybody would just turn into a NPC.
Ouii
So devious 😂
Drinking to world peace is so pretentious. Nancy needs to spend some time reliving days.
Once Phil gets out of the time loop, he’s screwed, one bad answer and it’s all over
I wonder how the rest of the dates went after the toast
2:43 Why is the waitress cleaning her hands on the gentleman's jacket?
yeah!! she leaves something white on his arm that came off her hand. urgh!
Je parle français
will someone translate the line of French poetry bill murrary reads aloud
"What should we drink to?" "Wait...no matter what you say, I'm going to act disappointed that you didn't say world peace, because that's what a good virtue signaler does!"
Absolutely magnificent and impeccably executed.! The whole of the several scenes were preparatory for Bill Murray's, "...oui..".!!!
What does he say in French?

@@sanapadsense1999 Oh really lol. That is definitely something Bill Murray would do. Thank you so much.
@@stevesheldon8616it’s a poem about a woman who each morning looks more beautiful.

Never got why she was all that.
Hey, a black person! I didn't know there was one in this film.
And he doesn't die !
Imagine that, plus he's got a job and is not looting or polar bear hunting.
But he does a good smirk!
Wíkipedia says Punxsuwatney has 5769 population of which 98.8% are white. Black only 0.2%. So it's possible idk.
