I knew it! The Scarlet Forest inclemency period was the place flooding! I think it's safe to assume the rest of the maps, and their respective apexes, are probably going to be elemental themed. Probably an ice place with a blizzard, and a Volcano with an eruption, or maybe a heat wave or something. Who knows about dragon element though. But holy COW the Scarlet Forest is absolutely beautiful, I can't wait to explore it. The monsters are awesome too, the concept of a supposedly extinct species appearing again works so well thematically for Monster Hunter, I'm honestly surprised we haven't seen it before.

Reread the description for Uth Duna. It is anything BUT standard water monster. it doesn't coat it's body with water and mucus, the description mentions VEIL specifically. That's what those fins are. You can even see it in the trailer. This thing regularly just has tendrils, but can then bind water using it's mucus to make fins.

Arkveld looks like the evolutionary stage of a flying wyvern becoming a fanged wyvern. I'll assume the whip chains suck the life/element from the Apex Predators possibly changing how it fights on each map. More importantly wing whips are back give me Forokururu, best bird. Quematrice very unique design but I gotta wonder why they made yet another fire brute wyvern though at least this one doesn't seem to be a mid/late game fight. The Scarlett Forest gameplay reminds me of the early build for the Ancient Forest, so maybe Lagiacrus.

And re-watching this trailer for the 5th time i just had the thought about it's ultimate attack swimming animation and how something like that could easily be scaled up to a Mohran, since we already have Balahara who can swim in the sand. This monster gives me a lot of hope for the future of our favorite sand whales.
I really like how aside from the shot of Rath in the announcement trailer, there has been far more of a focus on the new monsters, especially with the new monsters being apexes of their locales. Unlike in world, which is like 'hey, heres Rathalos/Diablos, remember him?' Also less flying wyverns, and more unique designs, which I just think is great. This game is gonna shape up to be amazing.
We saw so much today that would make Lagiacrus finally feasible again: -Truly MASSIVE leviathan fully on land at points, tech issues are GONE -Coastal map FILLED with water -Big Maps with room for the guy -Even the possibility to let it swim again for some special attack maybe All possibly ruined by the fact he'd need to be on a map that already has an apex leviathan... I'm not even a huge lagi fan, it's lower half of my flagship rankings. But not having it again after the hell it went through regarding 5th gen, even if just until an expansion, it just ain't right. Especially with everything finally there for it to work.
At this point it is 99.8% chance that Lagiacrus and Gammoth are confirmed!!! Im mean come on if that big fish thing is here then they have to be!!!!! I would also like to see Zamtrios too needs to e here.

The scarlet forest doesn't really look all that red but that could be like it's default where after the downpour it looks more red but that's just my current theory. and the white wreath Ark looks really badass and I can't wait to see more of what he can do, but I have one possible idea given this games whole thing with the weather that it might tie into his ability like that one Crystal Leviathan from frontier that I can't remember the name of. Overall can't wait to see the rest if the Bone Boys reactions to this tomorrow.

Hyped about the release date reveal. Love Uth Duna and its movements and visual design. Also to me it 1000% confirms Lagiacrus is coming back, it's just way too on the nose. A large leviathan with a bunch of swimming animations thats arguable several times more bulky then Lagiacrus, with a bunch of crazy large flaps, therefore arguably way more hard to implement? Come on there's no way Lagiacrus isn't back. NOW do I think he's in base Wilds? He definitely could be but I think Lagiacrus is such a big reveal they might want to save its inclusion for master rank. To make him as much of a tough and challenging monster as they can make it. But anyway back to Uth Duna, visually I see HEAVY Alligator Gar, Tiger Fish, Arapiama, Beta Fish, Catfish, and River Dolphin from It's visual design and movements. She has Alligator Gar scale coloration, Arapiama headshape, Tiger Fish teeth, Beta Fish ornate fin vails, Catfish whiskers, and River Dolphin movement. It's an absolutely beautiful design I love everything about it. She has everything, she's BIG, very imposing, and is an awesome mix match of different animal species in a super cohesive way that makes sense.
I feel like monster hunter might actually be quite easy to bring monsters from world and rise into Wild. I mean the challenging part is getting them moving right so I feel like this game might have a huge starting roster.
Funny enough uth duna does not have fins but tenticles it seems. The back fins and giant tail fin are made or a iridescent and translucent slime, that as far as its description on the app show, is made of its own bodely fluids that harden and become rubber/gelatinous in response to contact with water.
I was hyped and ready to talk about all the stuff in the trailer...until I saw the system requirements for PC. The recommended requirements are so unreasonably high for 1080p and 60fps on medium settings with frame generation. I was planning on upgrading my CPU for this game, and probably still will, but this reeks of poor optimization and means I will probably skip this game, at least at release, potentially altogether. I'm even worried that my 3060Ti that I just got last year won't be enough to run this game. I'm not buying a PS5 or Xbox for this either because I don't want to have to pay a fee to play online, and the game probably won't run very well on those either. This game needs a LENGTHY delay (potentially to August or maybe even 2026), but given how badly Dragon's Dogma 2 launched, I don't think Capcom cares about the performance of the game. It's been fun y'all, but I think this is where I hop off.

I have a feeling that Arkveld is going to be categorized under "???" just like Gore Magala, knowing how it was considered an extinct species and not much is known about its ecology. If it were a flying wyvern or any other known class for that matter, they would've given that away in the website, but they didn't.
My bet on Arkveld is that it's actually related to Akantor and Ukanlos, or at least whatever those two are descended from. With the tusks, the chin, and the slightly atrophied looking wings, that's just the vibe I've been getting

The theme for Arkveld (assuming it's for them) reminds me a lot of Final Fantasy 16's Morbol's theme, I can't wait to see what else they're cooking up for the other Monster themes, SUPER HYPED!
I think it’s interesting that Arkveld isn’t given a classification on the website. It’s not necessarily an elder dragon (most elders of Arks presumed rank are 6 limbed, 4 legs, 2 wings. Ark meanwhile has 2 legs 2 wings). Maybe Arkveld will be another ??? monster considering how mysterious it’s being built up as.

I think we still haven't seen the monster the hammer user's gear was based on, maybe the switch axe user too, but that might be White Wraith gear. However, the bow user was definitely wearing Quematrice gear. Any others I'm not clocking? It also looks like the different tiers of monster are more balanced, elementally. Balahara is a low-tier water monster, then Uth Duna as a mid-tier. Quematrice is the same for fire, with maybe Rathalos taking the mid-tier slot. Lala Barina seems to be paralysis focused, and Chatacabra is likely elementless, if it's water like Balahara then I'll be a little sad.
@@cr-volcanic Initially, I thought the switch axe user was wearing Arkveld gear, then the more I looked at it, the less it looked like him. I only held onto the idea so long because Glavenus greatsword exists.
When Looking at Arkveld, I feel he looks like a missing link betwen the Pseudo Wyverns and Exploding Scale Wyverns (Bazel and Seregios). Like he has a mix between Seregios & Tigrex fore limbs and Bazel's bulky frame. If it was Frontier, I'd see him as an origin/burst species for Seregios (not sure of the right name, but like Voljang was to Rajang) In any case, the new monsters are Dope and I'm all for it.

I hope the recommended specs will change a bit down the line, so far my worries have been realised. Frame gen in recommended is brutal. Hopefully they'll continue working on optimization. Also, the designers are killing it. Uth Duna definitely is my new favourite, with Quematrice being close second. And so far there hasn't been a design I didn't care for. Hope the encounter design is just as good! *Also, I think it's pretty cool how involved our palico is in the Quematrice cutscene. Hope there's more like that.
Regarding the camps... the website says that the player is part of "Avis Unit" which also includes Alma the handler, and Gemma the smithy (and Nata to an extent), while Olivia is part of "Astrum Unit" which includes her handler Erik and the smithy Werner. The fact that Avis unit and Astrum unit each have their own smithy is interesting to me, it makes me think that depending on which region you go to upgrade your stuff at you might talk to a different smithy. Additionally, Avis Unit is specifically there to investigate the White Wraith and help Nata, while Astrum Unit's special assignment is still unknown to us. Gemma even asks Olivia what Astrum Unit's been up to in this trailer and she sort of dodges the question by saying that each team has their own assignment, but doesn't actually say what her unit's supposed to be doing. It's possible that it could be tied in with Olivia's past, since the website says that she's often given special assignments from the Guild. On another note, seeing Uth Duna with those huge waves it creates makes me really hope Namielle makes a comeback in this game. I feel like not many people talk about Namielle and have sort of forgotten him, but he's probably one of the most stunning looking elder dragons in the series. Seeing his bioluminescent glow within the fog of the Scarlet Forest's downpour would be incredible, and with so much water around his lightning attacks would be much more threatening. ... I also just realized the cats carrying the meat are wearing the same hats as the ones at the canteen in the other trailer (and they have oven mitts on), which makes sense if the cutscene is related to a quest for unlocking new meal ingredients at the canteen.
Uth Duna is fascinating because it seems like a remix of Kulve Taroth’s rig, which was a remix of Great Jagras. Smart reuse that’s created something almost unrecognizable at a glance.
For anyone wondering what the prices are for the base, deluxe and premium deluxe editions are. At least for the use prices, base is 70, deluxe is 90, and premium deluxe is 110.
I love quematrice so much! It’s not often designs go for the cool weirdo stuff chickens have. I love birds with the crests and the colourful wrinkly skin irl, think turkeys, cassowaries, and yes, roosters, and even though quematrice is probably just a Barroth-equivalent it’s quickly climbing to both my favourite wilds monster so far (maybe barring Rey dau) and my favourite brute wyvern.
if this trailer has all the new monsters and stuff, i think i could take a good guess that TGS later this week might show off a third locale and/or some of the returning cast (hoping for a new frontier monster, PRAYING for Foro)

Kinda worried the kid will end up being the Handler of Wilds, the annoying character who keeps getting into trouble and we have to bust our ass to stop them from getting killed by their own recklessness
Tbf having a civilian to save isn't a problem. If the kid's restricted to only getting mauled by the White Wraith then it actually makes sense since they're actively entwined with eachother on a story level I think it's fine if the kid is regularly getting himself near death'd by Arkveld, just not by much else
Hope Capcom is not pushing the game out to early, becuase of the positive feedback at gamescon. Going to wait to reviews before I buy the game in how the game runs

I just noticed, Arkveld is General Grievous of Monster Hunter. If you pay close attention, there is a few frames in the cinematic where he fights Rey Dau, where he suddenly has 4 whips. He can split them.
I really like that white wraith monster flag is inspired by Berukyurosu and its subspecies Doragyurosu, along with their clear relative in Zenaserisu. Those wing tentacles are only found on those three monsters.
Ya know. I just noticed something about the charge blade(?) in the scene with the fire chicken. Is it just me or is the sword really long? I mean CB swords can be sometimes but idk. Maybe we are getting weapon length mechanics?

**SPOILER BLOCKER** (Monster Thoughts/Clarifications I can see) Arkveld has the Owl/Zygodactyl back legs from Seregios/Astalos. It’s one of their specific version of Pseudo Wyvern all day long - As a Mandalorian fan I love the Mythosaur vibes in the skull shape, I hope the armour is ancient feeling/has those cheek horns on the helmet as a motif. Also - LOVE Quematrice, super big fan of using the Brute Wyvern body to make a Chicken Rex// “”Authentic”” Dinosaur Monster. While I would’ve preferred a different element, I’d love to see it fight Anjanath.

The official website doesn't mention it on the monster, their twitter doesn't either from what I've seen. Probably easier to go from World to Wilds than it was for 4th gen to World, for sure. We got all the new HD models now

Funny enough uth duna does not have fins but tenticles it seems. The back fins and giant tail fin are made or a iridescent and translucent slime, that as far as its description on the app show, is made of its own bodely fluids that harden and become rubber/gelatinous in response to contact with water.
It might be just me, but I think Uth Duna's roar sounds like King Girorah's

I was hyped and ready to talk about all the stuff in the trailer...until I saw the system requirements for PC. The recommended requirements are so unreasonably high for 1080p and 60fps on medium settings with frame generation. I was planning on upgrading my CPU for this game, and probably still will, but this reeks of poor optimization and means I will probably skip this game, at least at release, potentially altogether. I'm even worried that my 3060Ti that I just got last year won't be enough to run this game. I'm not buying a PS5 or Xbox for this either because I don't want to have to pay a fee to play online, and the game probably won't run very well on those either. This game needs a LENGTHY delay (potentially to August or maybe even 2026), but given how badly Dragon's Dogma 2 launched, I don't think Capcom cares about the performance of the game. It's been fun y'all, but I think this is where I hop off.

I have a feeling that Arkveld is going to be categorized under "???" just like Gore Magala, knowing how it was considered an extinct species and not much is known about its ecology.
If it were a flying wyvern or any other known class for that matter, they would've given that away in the website, but they didn't.
I can see a lot of inspiration from the second avatar movie in the scarlet forest.
My bet on Arkveld is that it's actually related to Akantor and Ukanlos, or at least whatever those two are descended from. With the tusks, the chin, and the slightly atrophied looking wings, that's just the vibe I've been getting

The theme for Arkveld (assuming it's for them) reminds me a lot of Final Fantasy 16's Morbol's theme, I can't wait to see what else they're cooking up for the other Monster themes, SUPER HYPED!

I think it’s interesting that Arkveld isn’t given a classification on the website. It’s not necessarily an elder dragon (most elders of Arks presumed rank are 6 limbed, 4 legs, 2 wings. Ark meanwhile has 2 legs 2 wings).
Maybe Arkveld will be another ??? monster considering how mysterious it’s being built up as.
Could be a gore situation.

I think we still haven't seen the monster the hammer user's gear was based on, maybe the switch axe user too, but that might be White Wraith gear. However, the bow user was definitely wearing Quematrice gear. Any others I'm not clocking?
It also looks like the different tiers of monster are more balanced, elementally. Balahara is a low-tier water monster, then Uth Duna as a mid-tier. Quematrice is the same for fire, with maybe Rathalos taking the mid-tier slot. Lala Barina seems to be paralysis focused, and Chatacabra is likely elementless, if it's water like Balahara then I'll be a little sad.
Pretty sure we ain't seen switch axe or hammer gear, and technically not dual blades either yet.
@@cr-volcanic Initially, I thought the switch axe user was wearing Arkveld gear, then the more I looked at it, the less it looked like him. I only held onto the idea so long because Glavenus greatsword exists.
When Looking at Arkveld, I feel he looks like a missing link betwen the Pseudo Wyverns and Exploding Scale Wyverns (Bazel and Seregios). Like he has a mix between Seregios & Tigrex fore limbs and Bazel's bulky frame. If it was Frontier, I'd see him as an origin/burst species for Seregios (not sure of the right name, but like Voljang was to Rajang)
In any case, the new monsters are Dope and I'm all for it.

I hope the recommended specs will change a bit down the line, so far my worries have been realised. Frame gen in recommended is brutal. Hopefully they'll continue working on optimization.
Also, the designers are killing it. Uth Duna definitely is my new favourite, with Quematrice being close second. And so far there hasn't been a design I didn't care for. Hope the encounter design is just as good!
*Also, I think it's pretty cool how involved our palico is in the Quematrice cutscene. Hope there's more like that.
Regarding the camps... the website says that the player is part of "Avis Unit" which also includes Alma the handler, and Gemma the smithy (and Nata to an extent), while Olivia is part of "Astrum Unit" which includes her handler Erik and the smithy Werner. The fact that Avis unit and Astrum unit each have their own smithy is interesting to me, it makes me think that depending on which region you go to upgrade your stuff at you might talk to a different smithy. Additionally, Avis Unit is specifically there to investigate the White Wraith and help Nata, while Astrum Unit's special assignment is still unknown to us. Gemma even asks Olivia what Astrum Unit's been up to in this trailer and she sort of dodges the question by saying that each team has their own assignment, but doesn't actually say what her unit's supposed to be doing. It's possible that it could be tied in with Olivia's past, since the website says that she's often given special assignments from the Guild.
On another note, seeing Uth Duna with those huge waves it creates makes me really hope Namielle makes a comeback in this game. I feel like not many people talk about Namielle and have sort of forgotten him, but he's probably one of the most stunning looking elder dragons in the series. Seeing his bioluminescent glow within the fog of the Scarlet Forest's downpour would be incredible, and with so much water around his lightning attacks would be much more threatening.
... I also just realized the cats carrying the meat are wearing the same hats as the ones at the canteen in the other trailer (and they have oven mitts on), which makes sense if the cutscene is related to a quest for unlocking new meal ingredients at the canteen.

What you get when you crossbreed a Somnacanth, a Namielle, and a Tartaronis (mostly for the sheer bulk of this unit).
Uth Duna is fascinating because it seems like a remix of Kulve Taroth’s rig, which was a remix of Great Jagras. Smart reuse that’s created something almost unrecognizable at a glance.
For anyone wondering what the prices are for the base, deluxe and premium deluxe editions are. At least for the use prices, base is 70, deluxe is 90, and premium deluxe is 110.
Since the website says that Arkveld’s ecology is unknown, it might be another “???” Monster like Gore Magala.

I love quematrice so much! It’s not often designs go for the cool weirdo stuff chickens have. I love birds with the crests and the colourful wrinkly skin irl, think turkeys, cassowaries, and yes, roosters, and even though quematrice is probably just a Barroth-equivalent it’s quickly climbing to both my favourite wilds monster so far (maybe barring Rey dau) and my favourite brute wyvern.
if this trailer has all the new monsters and stuff, i think i could take a good guess that TGS later this week might show off a third locale and/or some of the returning cast (hoping for a new frontier monster, PRAYING for Foro)

Kinda worried the kid will end up being the Handler of Wilds, the annoying character who keeps getting into trouble and we have to bust our ass to stop them from getting killed by their own recklessness
Tbf having a civilian to save isn't a problem. If the kid's restricted to only getting mauled by the White Wraith then it actually makes sense since they're actively entwined with eachother on a story level
I think it's fine if the kid is regularly getting himself near death'd by Arkveld, just not by much else

I just noticed, Arkveld is General Grievous of Monster Hunter. If you pay close attention, there is a few frames in the cinematic where he fights Rey Dau, where he suddenly has 4 whips. He can split them.
I really like that white wraith monster flag is inspired by Berukyurosu and its subspecies Doragyurosu, along with their clear relative in Zenaserisu. Those wing tentacles are only found on those three monsters.
Ya know. I just noticed something about the charge blade(?) in the scene with the fire chicken. Is it just me or is the sword really long? I mean CB swords can be sometimes but idk. Maybe we are getting weapon length mechanics?

(Monster Thoughts/Clarifications I can see)
Arkveld has the Owl/Zygodactyl back legs from Seregios/Astalos. It’s one of their specific version of Pseudo Wyvern all day long - As a Mandalorian fan I love the Mythosaur vibes in the skull shape, I hope the armour is ancient feeling/has those cheek horns on the helmet as a motif.
Also - LOVE Quematrice, super big fan of using the Brute Wyvern body to make a Chicken Rex// “”Authentic”” Dinosaur Monster. While I would’ve preferred a different element, I’d love to see it fight Anjanath.
