    I love science man, someone needs to make some fantasy series where all the magic is just microbial symbiosis and bacteria XD
    And i will now absolutely add most of this stuff to my headcannons because this stuff is just SO cool especially Seregios, Narga, Brachy, Garuga, and surprisingly Cephadrome!
    Super excited see what they cooked up in that third book!

    @TheVictor126 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +95

    Kobayashi really did nailed the brachydios part... well, partially
    what he talked about brachydios slime being a selection factor, and it being used for sexual display is *exactly* the lore of raging brachydios. raging brachy instead of using the regular slime, forms a symbiotic relationship with the flashpoint slime, which is much more unstable and explosive than the regular one. This causes a selection where only the most powerful individuals survive, hence raging brachy is bigger than the regular one, it also causes the shell of brachydios to grow thicker to resist the explosions and turn emerald green. This turning of the shell is also what causes brachydios to seek the flashpoint slime in the first place, as it is used as a form of sexual display over the regular brachys

    • @sekiro_the_one-armed_wolf
      @sekiro_the_one-armed_wolf หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I imagine the normal slime is also very likely to be a mating display too. If females didn’t gaf about slime quality they wouldn’t really have a reason to consider flashpoint to be a good mating quality either.

    It's worth mentioning that in Generations Ultimate breaking Gypceros' crest creates a shiny drop that (depending on whether it a low, high, or G rank) is a light, nova, or pure crystal. This also disables its ability to flash

    • @MsTerkup
      @MsTerkup 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Also notable is how they strike the crest with their beak when creating the flash, sending sparks flying. Seems to be some sort of chemical reaction that produces a lot of light, like oxidising magnesium. An organ which releases small amounts of magnesium(or similar chemical, real or not) plus a crystalline structure that refracts the light, which also creates sparks when struck by the horn, kind of like a fire striker.

    Fumihito Muto's theory about gravity zones from part 1 was the final piece I needed to formulate my personal head cannon:
    The presence of bio-energy is what enables monsters to evolve features which would be too biologically expensive otherwise (elemental organs, etc.), while said gravity zones not only enables them to grow so large, but allows them to do so without sacrificing speed & agility
    It's also possible that monsters like Amatsu & Yama Tsukami (did I spell that right?) have developed some way to harness both factors in order to fly via levitation
    I stress that this is just a head cannon though

    I do have one theory of my own about Teostra and Lunastra in monster hunter world, we can see nergigante become very determined to go after the two elder dragons, well, it is known to hunt elder dragons, and use them as its main sustenance more than likely nergigante knows hunting two at once must be a great risk even with its own extreme regeneration. so the reward must be worth the risk my best guess is during their mating period Teostra and Lunastra must lower their temperatures to a significant enough degree to where procreation is safe. This could be why nergigante is so adamant about hunting the two it knows they are in a vulnerable state.

    So Najarala is a compilation of different snake types....couple that with the Naga archetype, and you've got quite a beast.
    56:57: And we've seen that happen a LOT of times during those hunts....
    57:30: Ah, the original spider of Monster Hunter. Also, can you imagine the size of the webs those things could spin?

    Huge Ceadeus fan here, so I'm unfortunately gonna have to step in and dismiss some of Ishigaki's theorizing here with established in-game knowledge.
    For one, we know Ceadeus still have regular young, specifically because Nakarkos is known to feed on them. And we know the young are much smaller and weaker than adult Ceadeus, because adult Ceadeus reverse this predation and start preying on Nakarkos themselves.
    Secondly, it's very unlikely that Ceadeus's beard is a modified Frilled Shark frill or a mass of external gills - because we know Ceadeus is an air-breathing creature that does not have gills. Their need for air is the reason they're known to very rarely surface. Though they are able to stay down in the depths for months, they do need to breathe air.
    Lastly, a fun bit of info that was left out of this video - the reason Ceadeus is able to stay down underwater for such a long time without surfacing for air. On top of producing bioluminescence, the algae that Ceadeus cultivates in its beard also produces oxygen, as most plants do. The Ceadeus uses this oxygen to top off its air supply, and thus only have to surface when its oxygen needs surpass both its massive lungs' supply and the output of the algae.

    Watching both the videos made me think of why such diverse and extreme feature can exist in MH world. In the last video the topic of gravitational zones was discussed. It made me think that:
    1) Maybe the planet of MH isn't a geoid but more of a ellipsoid. This would make sense why some monsters can grow so large. The planet is most likely an ellipsoid with a skewed axis. This allows a somewhat different gravitational and magnetic pull in different regions.
    2) Okay this might sound more far fetched, but I think the solar system/star system MH planet is a part of exists inside of/closer to a Nebula. The planet in its early stages most likely collected loads of stardust while flying through the nebula which would make sense why the planet has such an active energy flow. Also, the plants and early organisms most likely were exposed to high amounts of these stardust before the strengthening of its ozone layer. This might explain how these absurd monsters can seemingly survive on their diets and habitats.
    Also, fun headcanon, I think Valstrax's jets might be highly concentrated space dust it collects while flying around the edges of stratosphere where it might be absorbing nutrients and minerals from the space dust and discarding waste products through its vents.
