    The cola wars never made sense in Australia, where the two tasted very different and no-one preferred pepsi. Then I went to the US and found that the coke there isn't "sugar coke" and tastes a lot more similar to pepsi - the 'pepsi challenge' could make sense there.

    • @nutsandgum
      @nutsandgum 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Agreed. I find the taste to be very different between the two and well.. Pepsi is vastly inferior. Pepsi Max however is superior to any diet drink Coke has ever released so I guess it evens out.

      As to your other BS claim, time and time again in blind taste tests Pepsi wins, it is the objectively better product, but people will come up with bizarre hypothesises to justify to themselves continuing to drink an inferior product. It's just human nature to argue against facts to avoid being wrong, happens in all aspects of life from politics to fashion.
      Cokes success is 100% down to marketing.

    I fought in the Cola war back in the mid 80's. I took shrapnel from the enemy when they opened a can of coke and shoved a bag of pop rocks over it and shook it then through it in my direction. I was able to cover a small child and save her, but received wounds from the explosion. I'll live, but war is hell... it'll never be over. All kidding aside, you all that serve in our military, have our deepest respect and admiration. Love and respect!

    The cola wars in India was won by Thums Up in the 90s - Coca Cola had pulled out due to restrictions on foreign investments and brands, and Indian made colas including Thums Up ruled the roost. When Coca Cola and Pepsi returned, no one liked either, so Coke bought Thums Up and tried to shut it down, which backfired as people moved to Pepsi instead of Coke, so Coca Cola had to bring Thums Up back.

    Anything that keeps enthusiasm or interest in space for the general population is a good thing IMO, without it there would be little to no budget for any space science at all. After the Apollo 11 moon landing, with its record setting TV audience, people quickly got bored of people landing on the moon ("been there, done that"); numbers declined dramatically.
    We're a fickle bunch, a bit of novelty is always a good thing in these situations.

    The fact that the astronauts got so shitty over an experiment seems kinda wild to me. Maybe it's because I'm not in any field of science and look at it from the outside but imo any kind of experiment involving space and things we take for granted on Earth is highly valuable information.
