As John Denver sang, “Almost heaven, West Virginia “. These are the thoughts I see while watching your lovely family and your endeavours. Thanks for the memories.
I'm just running out of things to say about you two. Your family dynamic is a joy to watch. Your kids are getting an "education" that is not available anywhere else but from you in so many areas of life. The way you draw strength from each other by working together is a lesson many couples could learn from. And each accomplishment is a victory that only comes thru hard work and dedication to the task at hand. Just look what you have accomplished in the last 3 or 4 years. As life goes by we realize that 3 or 4 years is not very long at all in the grand scheme of things. You've come a very long way since the camper. Thank you for the smiles that you share with us!
Where's the boy's why don't they help you then work on schooling. this will give them a sense of ownership of the land they like playing on .plus it gives them skills you can't learn in books .or they can use what they learned. like give them one plot in the garden to grow food for everyone they work it waterit harvest it .then they learn how to make meals from it .
I remember when Ellie was on your back while you were working Erin. Now she’s working right along side of you. I just love you guys. Appreciating every little thing. And you finally have grass...and a sidewalk. Chuck would love it. 🤗♥️🇺🇸
I think about this often, and rarely comment. Your scenic, and close up nature shots could be sold as stock footage for films. Commendable and beautiful work! Well done 👊🏻
What a huge job! There are different grasses that thrive in sun as opposed to shade. I suggest that you toss a shade mix of seed among the sod you just put down. While your sod is taking root, you can sprout some seeds that will thrive in the more shady conditions near the house. Congrats on another job well done!
What I love about you guys is that you do so much hard work and smile. And on top of that having 3 wonderful kids enjoying this as well. MASSIVE SATISFACTION. Thanks for motivating us all.
Josh, you are a good leader, guide, teacher and mentor. It is nice when you include your kids in projects they are capable of doing. You both are loving parents and bring blessings everyday to your homestead.
Josh is a fine man and his range of skills are awesome. (As far as leading is concerned I think Erin is probably more the driver in this series) but as a pair they certainly seem to tick just about every box! - Just a wonderful family team all round!
I haven't missed a single episode. When she said "we have everything we wanted" 18:48 that hit. Congrats on all the hard work. You deserve the greatness you have created.
I think you wrapped it the right way, and either way the grass wild still be covered with dirt inside. I want to fast-forward to next month to see it all settled in. And I love the way you support one another through the tough bits when you’re both exhausted and Josh is visibly experiencing back pain. 💗
Its more difficult to wrap and unwrap the other way. After you cut it, You would have to turn the grass upside down, roll it, transport it, unroll it, turn it upside down again, install it in the right position. That would make 3 more steps, which is more work and more damage to the grass. They did it the right way.
I've laid acres of sod in my life. You will need to keep it well watered for a couple of weeks. The edges will be the first to dry out. Always try to keep your cuts to the inside by laying a border first, then fill in. Being slightly shaded will help keep it from drying out a much. Once the roots begin to attach themselves, you are home free. You did a great job. You should be proud of your hard work.
I don't know if it is true or not but you guys always seem to laugh off the pain and looks to me like you really Love Each other and that rubs off on your children. As a father of 8 thats the important part. God Bless
I always dread the end of your videos…what a joy it is to watch your wonderful family at work building your dream life, one project at a time! Blessings!!
As I watched this video, I was thinking that there is not a monetary amount you could put on this house to equal all your blood, sweat, and tears to come this far. This house is truly priceless.
Coming from a family owned sod farm in Philadelphia your making me feel like I should be there helping you guys. One think you're right about is that it sure is some physical work. Are machines would fold the pieces in half not roll them but the dirt was always showing on the outside. And Erin you are a brute in a good way. I've seen a few hundred square feet of sod almost kill some men. And just a tip water, water, water!!!! Looking good 👍
I love the grass swiss rolls you guys made, I also like how Josh is standing at the trailer and you can see him contemplating his life choices. Love your videos it makes my happy.

Congratulations on the lawn. It looks amazing. You get what you work for, not what you wish for. Thank you for continuing the lifestyle, into the next generation.
Ellie is an absolute doll.she's gonna be a "heartbreaker" one day......growing up loving animals, but understanding their place in the world...... learning the value of a little elbow grease AND sitin' on a swing in the breeze
I don't know about everyone else, but it brings a huge smile to my face watching you two work so well together and seem to give each other the energy to accomplish everything even when you are worn out and tired. Keep up that spirit.
In all the years of watching, I ve never seen you guys "hit the wall." Glad you bounced back. Amazing lawn, and great to see the kids working beside mom and dad.
Rolled sod grass goes inside. I did my front yard...by myself. It killed me. Took all day into the next. I had no idea. Watching you guys load and unload sod.... OMG brings back memories. I swore "never again". A year later did back yard, hired two workers. They did more sod than the front lawn I did, ....and they were done by lunch. Amazing.
If I had neighbors…I’d want them to be like your family. From one off-gridder to another, your inspirational, hard working and one heck of a video editor!
You tend to appreciate the little things when you work as hard as you guys have to get to where you are. I'm always excited to see a new video from you guys. You've built your own little paradise and shared your ups and downs along your journey with us.
I absolutely love seeing the children participating and learning. The knowledge and SKILLS we get from our parents and parent's parents is #PRICELESS. What most people don't realize is that our children ARE OUR LEGACY
Finally sitting down and relaxing as you reflect upon the appreciation for what you've endured to get to where you are. You don't realize how good it feels to just watch you sit down, relax and reflect upon your accomplishments. Although you have brought us so much enjoyment letting us follow your journey and accomplishments it brings me joy to see this part come to fruition so that you can take some time to relax. Watching your children learn how to do things is also enjoyable. You are the best channel on TH-cam!
Just want to say that both yourself and Josh are a beautiful couple with amazing can do attitude in life. I have been watching your shows religiously and I am always impressed. The positivity that is brought to the screen is infectious. Never stop being the wonderful people you are. Can not wait until the next episode in your lives. Thank you for being brave enough to share your lives with the world.
I love the way you guys work together as I said before I will watch every episode until the end. I just hope that the day comes when your kids realize how lucky they are to have you as parents. As we both know kids do not stay kids long so enjoy every minute you have with them. Thanks again for being you and shareing your family and life with me.
You wrap it with the grass inside, dirt on the outside. You did it right! 🤣 I know you guys are tired, because your getting slap happy 😆 Great job as always, that’s hard work! Looks great 👍
So many lovely memories, through exhaustion, worth every second to live this new life. Your daughter is the cutest little worker bee, those last scenes watching you hug your pups that bit closer and the one in the truck looking over at your son, gripped my heart strings. You’re so lucky to have each other. You reap what you sow literally, the love you receive back from your menagerie of animals is testament, as im sure your gardens will soon reveal too. We really are blessed to be invited into your world as we are. Looking forward to your continuing endeavours, brightening my days, thanks again for the invite.
When Josh runs out of steam it is time to call it quits ...take the trailer up to the house get a drink of something energizing and then unload the trailer. I can think of the number of times Josh has wanted to tap out on one hand. What a great title and story....you now have a functional and lovely house, family, and farm.
Hi guys, I've been following your work for a while now since I discovered you on NewTube and I admire the work you 2 (plus 3) have done over the years. Erin is the mom and has the managerial talent and Josh is the handyman genius. What you have created is something to be admired in addition to raising 3 kids. Keep it up, I think you will get a lot of NEW viewers. ------------ Greetings from Germany.
I have not missed a single episode in the 4 years you be on youtube and still to this day i love it when it pops up saying you have uploaded a new video. 🇬🇧💪
Another great episode in the life of my favorite family. What a great feeling to know that everything you see around your property was a result of hard work and teamwork by your family.
What would we do without Ellie...she just makes my heart happy. Your videos are a reminder to all of us as to how much of daily life conveniences we just take for granted. We see by your hard work that we have become "spoiled" and under appreciate so much. The sincerity on Erin's face sitting on the steps near the end says it all in my view. Great job and thank you...again.
It looks soooooo good! Your hard work and “stick to it” plan have paid off! The gratification must seem surreal at times. Look what you have built! Awesome…just awesome.
I'm always looking forward to watching y'all, you are a great inspiration to all who watch. Most of all you guys are a great inspiration to your children.
Of course you rolled the sod up correctly. How do you suppose you would have had to unroll the sod if the grass was on the outside? Unroll then flip it over? That doesn't make sense, and would have been a whole lot more work. You did good.
All I can say is your off grid home is by far the best I've ever seen. All that hard work is paying off. I wish I had seen something like this when I was younger. I really feel trapped by the grid.
Wow, it's amazing what you guys have accomplished! The house looks awesome, and the grass and landscaping really makes the house stand out. Great work, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the new wing of the house turns out!
I would love to know how the fence is coming around your property and when you guys will finish the stone. I'm so excited to see how the house looks with all the stone! Good job on the sod! It's all coming together and looking beautiful.
What I love about these projects is that you save a lot of $$, but the hard work may only be worth it in some cases because it gives you great video content. A double win for y'all!
Great job Family ! Your hard work has paid off . You can even more, enjoy the fruits of your labor . The grass is looking great. Love your content and your family . You ALL Rock !
Living Large on the farm. I want to see that lawn in a few days...looking good and hope y'all recover well from all that work. Enjoyed the way this was put together, especially the chubby hen scratching on the lawn.
You two loving each other, working together, sharing in the successes, teaching your son what you know how to do....its just awesome!!! Your nature video portions, like the bumble bees on the thistle flowers... is awesome too. Thanks for sharing it all, because I genuinely love seeing EVERY video...as I have now for years. THANK YOU! 💖😀
My hats off to both of you for hanging in there all these years building your homestead. You've inspired many people over the years about the blessings of country style living including myself. When I was your age I laid 10,000 s.f. of sod with the help of my family. And yes you are installing the sod correctly. Don't forget to roll the grass with a 55 gallon water drum to compact the sod into the existing soil once its all installed. It helps the roots germinate the the soil faster.
You guys are doing a great job. I just have one comment and one question. First the comment, you need to saw cut your sidewalk so it doesn’t crack. Now for the question, when are you guys going to finish the stone work around your house?
Looking great! You guys are what it's all about, the personification of the American Dream. I'm happy to see that you've finally passed the million subs mark, that there are that many people who agree with me, and we're all happy to be along for the ride. Even if it's only watching from afar. Hopefully there are other young couples who are inspired by what your family has done and do the same. As a fellow Electrician I'm glad that Josh proves time and time again that Sparkys can do anything, at least well enough to make it work. I remember seeing one video where Josh had his shirt off, displaying a tattoo that says "Working Class". That's apt, and something to be proud of. Seems that we're a dying breed as more people these days expect to be handed everything for free. Without the working class, there would be no "everything". There would be nothing, in fact, and it is truly reassuring to see that there are still families carrying on the proud traditions that built this Country to begin with. Best wishes, best of luck and know that you are making a difference. These videos are more than just entertainment, they're instructional and motivational as well. Something needed now more than ever.
I see that Ellie's the comedian of the family! lol. I appreciated your good humor while slogging through a VERY heavy task. Josh's back must have been screaming bloody murder. I know mine would have been!

You guys are too cute, I reach that level of “can’t go on” way earlier than you guys. And on a lot less physical tasks, getting old blows. 🙃 You guys have at least a million in sweat equity for sure!!!! Always a great end result.
What a wonderful life your family lives…. we are all so envious. But it’s clear you’ve earned it and it is well deserved. Nothing but warm wishes for your entire family.
Josh you have such a strong wife in many ways but her physical strength impresses me over and over. My wife and I do many projects together as well. Love it!!!❤️❤️😁
As John Denver sang, “Almost heaven, West Virginia “. These are the thoughts I see while watching your lovely family and your endeavours. Thanks for the memories.

Ah, one of our favorite songs!
Trust me. West Virginia is beautiful but it's far from heaven. Poverty stricken state.
Yes. Almost heaven. Erin’s thumbnail poses always on point 😈
Absolutely

One of my favorite Erin Quotes is, "You go to sleep exhausted but with a full heart". It's always like that. Every episode.😍🇺🇲

Hats off to the filming and editing. A part that we don't see but I'm sure is very time consuming.

@@niconico3907 Yep grass inside, that is how all the rolls come to the job. I am glad it is not me doing this one, I have had enough fun thank you. :)
A pallet of grass is brown when rolled, green when stacked sod flats (rectangles).

Hi from England been watching your journey from the start what an amazing job you have done with your home
There are two things I like to live by:
1. There are two ways to do things in life, the right way and the lazy way.
2. You'll never ever have nice things in life if you're not willing to work for it.
You two are an inspiration on how to pretty much do life. Thanks.
So true

Your family always makes me smile and sometimes puts a mist in my eyes.

The excitement when I see an unexpected video 😃😃 I love your TH-cam channel ❤️ it's my favorite of all!
Sod looks so easy but if you have ever done it, you know it’s real work!
You guys touch my ❤️ every time i‘m watching your Vids…I am so proud of all that you‘ve done…Cheers and hugs from Switzerland 🇨🇭
Beautifully expressed, I have the same perception.
Everyone thinks gardening is easy until they try it :)
You are my favorite youtube family and I can't wait until you have a garden full of food.
I see that Ellie's the comedian of the family! lol. I appreciated your good humor while slogging through a VERY heavy task. Josh's back must have been screaming bloody murder. I know mine would have been!
I bet, older I get the more my back hurts.
This is what family life should be. The world needs more dads and mom's teaching there kids how to do stuff.
Hermosa familia, merecen todo lo bueno que han logrado.
Un abrazo enorme desde Chile.
I love seeing child labor, as a child, I hated it, but now as a grandfather I realize how much I learned my parents. Doing exactly what you are doing.

That little girl is truly a hard worker... your creating memories for her working with her family, that will last a lifetime
You guys are too cute, I reach that level of “can’t go on” way earlier than you guys. And on a lot less physical tasks, getting old blows. 🙃
You guys have at least a million in sweat equity for sure!!!! Always a great end result.
Frank is the star! Love seeing all the farm animals.
