Fully agree, love the Necrons myself but the first 2 reveals were made much more exciting and showcased the decks in 2 completely different ways. Also could not care less for the monetary value, especially on first reveal - lore or card synergy is so much more interesting!
Do you not recall at the start of the video that Josh said several times they would not be breaking down gameplay with the cards for this video? He said it several times up front. He also said at least twice that he would save that for (possibly) another video. I know it bumbs out he didn't address it in this video specifically, but its a bit dramatic to be calling it that much of a let down after getting several up front warnings about them not further examining the cards. And if you choose to skip all the portions of the video at the start that carried those warnings, that is not their fault. Should have watched from the very beginning.
Welcome to the channel! Sorry to hear this was a let down for you. I can see how this may have felt like the bare-bones in comparison to some of the others. @@christopherpoet458 yes but, as a fan of the channel and the content they create if the community is displeased with the content (even if it just 1 video every few months or whatever) then we should voice that so that they can do better.
Why did this have to be squeezed down to under an hour... well, probably 40ish mins after ads? Feels rushed and completely underselling the 40k brand. I know they'll do the budget upgrade guide down the line but come on. With the delay, they've had these decks for a while so why not roll it into one longer video with both and more of a deep dive on mechanics and lore without sounding so out of breath at times. LRRMTG did it right with the Chaos deck reveal and reacting to it in real time. Hopefully tomorrow's will be better with PleasantKenobi
It doesn't just FEEL rushed. It IS rushed. Heck, Josh keeps rushing them along. Meanwhile, the Ruinous Powers deck was a 2 hour long discussion of the card mechanics, and general lore around what was being depicted. But this is kinda how Command Zone does things these days.
First 5 mins are Sponsors and Patreon plug.... then card reveals finally start at 7 mins only to go into 3 more minutes of ADs at 24 minutes in. The smaller content creators did so much better with these reveals.
I think the best way to have compared reprint value is average value per reprint. Nearly $70 for about 30 reprints when average in the past has been about $88 for 65ish reprints.
I can not put into words how much I want to flesh this into Abzan colors, drop some of the less functional cards, add some flickering and token duplication, and turn this into a Necron Token Generator deck. It would be a true army then! Even better, if I could somehow splash blue and dive into Zombie tribal and use that to duplicate a lot of the cards too! Not the most efficient deck on the planet, but the urge to just duplicate so many things is pecking at me for this deck!
I've Pre-ordered the Nids and necrons... since me and my friend both played the factions respectively we're going to battle with just precon and then upgrading
Really wish there would have been a demonstration/discussion of what the actual hell a “Surge Foil” is - Wizards goes so hard in the paint on these “deluxe/unique” foil treatments but doesn’t encourage y’all as content creators to really play up what makes them deluxe or unique? idk, missed opportunity as for the deck, seems insanely strong, i love Grixis chaos of the Astartes but this one might just be what i grab if i find a group of friends who wants to have a precon pod
I got a good laugh out of Josh reminding us the creatures are mono black cause the entire deck is mono-black. Sometimes when you look at amazing new cards, your mind reverts to the basics
When I first saw the face commander I was disappointed but seeing how the rest of the deck synergies with him I can see how it is better than I thought
You guys hardly showed off any of the art of the reprints... like what dose the new art for shaping steel look like? is the wayfarer's bauble the same art as the chaos one?
I absolutely love the new Warhammer magic cards that were released, I've always loved WH40K and even the fantasy setting for it (age of sigmar) and now that there's Warhammer stuff for magic I'm very excited to try and make my own. I have a few people I hope to try and impress with my own deck someday.
I personally believe if you really enjoy the game you may want to save your money for more cards! But of course it's entirely your choice. Style matters too
44:55 maybe to compare the reprint value of the deck with other averages is dived by the number of reprinted cards. so this one would be £67 / 28. do the same form the previous precons and boom! you can see if the reprint value is on par with previous precons. note I do appreciate the data you provide and the effort you go to in doing it.
Cyonpteks are the necrons robots, so the necrons became robots when they went through the bio furnace. ..cyonopteks are built as robots from the stizart
As a necron player, I'm sad that a large chunk of these miss the flavor mark. As a magic player, it hurts double that some of these feel like just bad cards. 2 BB to get a "basic swamp" to "hand" ouch dude. like i get it's black and we shouldn't get it to field, but like : 3 drop and lower It's power and toughness, make it grab a "swamp" instead of basic, or make it a 5 drop and grab "a land", or even make the plasmancer more flavorful and sling -1/-1 counters (mortal wonds). any of these would feel at least a little better.
If you didn't want to do a longer video you should have done 2 parts to give some time to actually cover the cards and show all the reprints with some brief thoughts on them. LRR took 2 hours on The Ruinous Powers and it was glorious.
So excited to use some of the cards that trigger if they leave the graveyard or etb from it in Grenzo, since he sends cards to the graveyard before they go to the battlefield
Really curious to see the 40k Game Knights episode after the release. And this deck needs to add Mikaeus the Unhallowed (whose name really sounds necron-like) and Syr Konrad.
Marionette Master and Disciple of the Vault are going in here. Also, probably Scrap Trawler, Spine of Ish Sah, Lightning Grieves, Trading Post, Kuldotha Forgemaster, Nihil Spellbomb, and Codex Shredder.
man. I'm already thinking of awesome synergies for this deck (and also cool alters) like scrap trawler, for instance could be altered to look like the canoptek reanimator. conjurer's closet (a powerhouse with all the ETB effects and unearth) could be altered to be an Eternity Gate on a Monolith. Cold Storage or Helvault (Also great with Unearth) could be Trazyn's Collection!
I'm a little disappointed with this deck reveal. As others have said not all of the cards were shown as they all have new art work specifically for Warhammer 40k. I also got the feeling from Josh that this was just another pre-con deck instead of something special that fans of Warhammer 40k have been waiting for since the announcement of this set. The other content creators really seemed excited about it and were discussing Warhammer 40k as they were going through the cards. It just seemed that no one at the Command Zone really cared that this was a Warhammer 40k cross over and that does not due this reveal justice.
Planning to buy this to distribute many of these into existing commander decks. CMC average of this precon seems a little too high for this to function without significant tampering to reduce the CMC cost. Needs a bunch of the staple mono black cards like Gary, etc...
I got to say, despite how AWESOME all these new cards and even the reprints look, I am a little disapointed that dice rolling isn't even on a single card in these. Just having a something like a little Necron Warrior 2/1 with " when this dies, roll a D6, on a 5+ return it from the graveyard to the battlefield" would be so on point in terms of theme and would almost exactly replicate the Reanimation Protocols they have.
@The Command Zone have you ever heard of @weshammer ? He loves magic, is a long time player and currently has the support of your sponsor too. He also loves Warhammer and I think he's a great guy. Love the show gameknights and your content keep it up
Probably a quite nice deck, and some cards will be valued quite nicely i think, and quite a few card to pimp tis deck with or to use from this deck to add to your own, especially obviously if you're artifact based.
I know it would have been longer and harder but I would have really loved for them to go more into depth with the lore and history of the necrons and the legends but what can you do.
Bought the collector's edition and will be keeping it as pre-con. I chose the necron version because thematically it just looks killer, and when wanting to keep it unmodified, I expect a mono colored deck to run smoother. Mana issued have been my no.1 problem with other precons.

Would be nice to have a closer look at the surge foiling tho. A few of my secret lairs had been unplayable due to curling :(
I think the best way to have compared reprint value is average value per reprint. Nearly $70 for about 30 reprints when average in the past has been about $88 for 65ish reprints.
Trazyn the Infinite is crazy good. Palladium Myr, Pili-pala and walking ballasta. if you have these in the yard, you machinegun the table :)
5 minutes of advertising and 1 minute talking about the race... Really sad. The other reveals were much better
Why didn't you show us the art for the rest of the reprints or basics?!!
Never been a big fan of 40k, but every card and character revealed in this video is pure metal.
I almost did an Anafenza vehicles deck a few months ago, she was the commander I found to be the best for that kind of deck xD
I've Pre-ordered the Nids and necrons... since me and my friend both played the factions respectively we're going to battle with just precon and then upgrading
WARHAMMER LETS GO!!!
The full decklist isn’t actually posted yet.
A new card per deck for each millenium, let's go!
Holy shit 🤯
I already preordered all 4 from my lgs. I'm excited to hear they're mostly new cards
Really wish there would have been a demonstration/discussion of what the actual hell a “Surge Foil” is - Wizards goes so hard in the paint on these “deluxe/unique” foil treatments but doesn’t encourage y’all as content creators to really play up what makes them deluxe or unique? idk, missed opportunity
as for the deck, seems insanely strong, i love Grixis chaos of the Astartes but this one might just be what i grab if i find a group of friends who wants to have a precon pod
@33:00 it doesn't have to be the same colored mana. So if you get blood mooned or something, it can still tap for a different color
I got a good laugh out of Josh reminding us the creatures are mono black cause the entire deck is mono-black. Sometimes when you look at amazing new cards, your mind reverts to the basics
Truc has to be the MVP of the Command Zone team. He is talked about almost every episode.
I feel like he should be paid way more because he does ALL the research for so many episodes.
I cant put into words how excited i am for the 40k stuff
When I first saw the face commander I was disappointed but seeing how the rest of the deck synergies with him I can see how it is better than I thought
Karn the great Creator would love this deck
I’m very excited to build a high powered deck with Imotekh! I can already think of two infinite combos that work with him
which ones are they?
You guys hardly showed off any of the art of the reprints... like what dose the new art for shaping steel look like? is the wayfarer's bauble the same art as the chaos one?
"Space Skeleton Terminator Robots" -- best description for the Nekrons 10/10
"Flash, 187 a creature" is probably one of the best phrases ever. Just Chef's Kiss on that Demolition Man reference.
The deck is really interesting, very fun and innovating designs
The sheer number of new cards is staggering - and awesome!
Can't wait to open and sleeve these. I wonder if these would play well against other pre-cons.
Skipping over the flavour text when reading through the cards was a mistake.
I absolutely love the new Warhammer magic cards that were released, I've always loved WH40K and even the fantasy setting for it (age of sigmar) and now that there's Warhammer stuff for magic I'm very excited to try and make my own. I have a few people I hope to try and impress with my own deck someday.
I'm a beginner to MTG and very excited about this Precon. Just trying to figure put if I want to buy the collectors edition.
I already have a mono black artifact/creature recursion deck and I'm so ready or some of these heaters!!!
Haunted one is an automatic include for the upgrade. Pump up the robo’s and undying fits right into the design
Never played black before, might have to get this deck.
Cyonpteks are the necrons robots, so the necrons became robots when they went through the bio furnace. ..cyonopteks are built as robots from the stizart
I always wondered about adjusting the prices of precons with the new cards so I loved the breakdown
I love the necron lore never played 40k but read the necron manual like 80 times
Where’s the other deck reveals?
It looks great! I feel like a crucible of worlds might be helpful in this deck as you are self milling and likely to lose some lands in that process
So excited to use some of the cards that trigger if they leave the graveyard or etb from it in Grenzo, since he sends cards to the graveyard before they go to the battlefield
Was hoping for a seraptek heavy construct since the Tyranids got the biotitan. But these cards look super fun regardless
One of the best precons I've seen in recent years.
Little fun fact about spiders, they do fly well more like fall with style but it's pretty cool .
I love Jordan. It's very rare to see an adult that looks like a kid trying to look like an adult.
the exile mechanic is to matrch with the unearth so on death it activate and when you unearth it activate again :P
These new cards will be nasty in my Silas renn/armix deck. I’m so hyped!
the graveyard or exile part is mainly to work with unearth i think
I've been looking for a mono-black artifact commander. Absolutely happy that the commander isn't too bad.
it's annoying that all the full deck reveals are at midnight for me but I'm staying up anyway even if I have to go to work tomorrow
for me so far they've all been exactly at 4:00pm which is the exact time I have to leave for work
Planning to buy this to distribute many of these into existing commander decks. CMC average of this precon seems a little too high for this to function without significant tampering to reduce the CMC cost. Needs a bunch of the staple mono black cards like Gary, etc...
I wish you guys gave some info on the look of the "surge foils" I'm assuming they are another version on etched foils?
I'm wondering if we are going to end up getting a tau, eldar, drukhari, squat, custodes, sisters of battle, mechanicus, orks, ect
This show is really starting to feel like one of those late night infomercials. Everybody get that Scrap Trawler ad too ? GO BUY IT!
If you're looking for it check out leutin, baldermort, a border prince, they do really cool 40k lore rabbitholes.
Bought the collector's edition and will be keeping it as pre-con. I chose the necron version because thematically it just looks killer, and when wanting to keep it unmodified, I expect a mono colored deck to run smoother. Mana issued have been my no.1 problem with other precons.
I'm sorry, but keeping in your already long plugs and sponsor announcements in a deck reveal (which presumably included sponsorship) is a bit much.
Fr though this is getting ridiculous
Then don’t watch?
Especially when you PAY to NOT have ads on TH-cam
I've never been so excited for a magic release in my life hopefully they make a deck for all the races so my tau can get some love
Man this deck looks so good
I hope you guys do the same thing for all the other WH40K decks
I can’t wait for when these cards come available got my warhammer pieces ready
I would have liked to see the art for all the reprints :(
