    I've had my 22 wrx 2 months and 7k miles later ive hit 14.4psi and it keeps progressing. Almost no lag in any gear even 6th. By far funnest car I've ever owned and the 0 to 60 times shown in the reviews definitely need a driver mod. Mine hits mid 4's easily if you get your clutch dance right. Only mod I'd do is a basic ecu tune when available. Have fun out there guys and gals.

      Do not use an ost. Go to a tuner and spend the money to dyno it. Get an aftermarket boost controller as well. This turbo is capable of 18 to 20 psi all day long.

    Great vid and explanation of how dynos work with respect to the SAE factor. Note: A turbo car with an intercooler really should have a huge blower at the front end cooling the motor and the air charge. I didn’t see a blower on your run which is why you likely suffered from heat soak.

    • @ran97396
      @ran97396 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      actually you're supposed to have your hood open plus a blower directly on top of the intercooler or a flexible wind tunnel connected to the intercooler (how my STI was dynoed). putting a fan in front will literally do nothing unless you're FMIC

    • @amerritt09
      @amerritt09 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Isn't this why most dynos blow air at the front of the car though? A car on the road has airflow. A car on a dyno with no blowers simulating airflow is going to heat up, no?

      @@amerritt09 I was just under my 22 for the first time this weekend (installing the Burger Motorsport intake.) Something I found rather interesting is the belly pan has a pair of NACA ducts, with vanes angled back. These were most certainly put there to extract heat from the bottom of the engine. Maybe other Scooby's have had them. I wondered if it's unique to the FA's, with the turbo up front vs on the right side with EJ's. Just random thoughts.

    Feel like I'm answering my own question but won't dyno figures, just like 0-60 and 1/4 times be more accurate once these cars have 5,000-7,000 miles on? Quite a long time ago either C&D or R&T did an article where they brought the same test cars back almost a year later, matched up the weather best they could, and got up to 15% better times.

      Probably. Bought my wife a 2016 For Escape with the little turbo and AWD (RIP - Moose totaled it). It was getting low 20’s mpg for about the first 7500 miles and then randomly one day it was like it had about 20% more horsepower and got around 30 mpg avg. There was a night and day difference. My mother Jeep was the same way. She bough a new 2018 Cherokee and it just rolled over 8k miles this week (she doesn’t drive much) and it has more power for sure. I just borrowed it today to haul some junk of hers around.

    Car Manufacturers underreport their numbers to avoid lawsuits. They can’t get sued if the vehicle does better than specified, but they are false advertising if it performs worse than advertised. You can almost guarantee every car in the US over-performs in every data catalog when compared to manufacturer numbers and real-world numbers, including HP torque, MPG, etc.

    @VitalJoe 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The video has some major flaws.. if you say it’s quicker than the VA then why not dyno them back to back? See the relative difference in the dyno. Then consider the gearbox ratios and that would make a difference also. I’ve seen the same car make 60 horsepower difference from dyno to dyno.. it’s about relative difference car to car or before after mods ignoring the absolute numbers

    • @SuzukiKid400
      @SuzukiKid400 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gearing doesn’t change a dyno number because the dyno uses the gear ratio reduction as an input. A dyno measures work done by the motor irrespective of the gearing.

    • @VitalJoe
      @VitalJoe 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don’t gears multiply torque? A car will make different dyno numbers in different gears. Rear ratio is common

    • @rallysportdirect
      @rallysportdirect  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I really doubt gear ratios alone would have made 2 car lengths of difference especially considering the car weights an extra 50 lbs, and i don't just say it's quicker there's tons of drag and roll races between the 2 cars and the VB always comes out on top, but throwing the VA on the dyno would be interesting to see.

    • @VitalJoe
      @VitalJoe 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d rather the right gearing than 20-30hp.. in Australia, there are cars that gain 1 second down the quarter mile by the manufacturer using a better gearbox (both auto) but different ratios. Of course gear ratios make a big difference.
