Best part was when the quiet music played and we looked a some flowers.. I enjoyed that part. Thank you GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR BEAUTIFUL FAMILY. NICE YO MEET YOUR SISTER FOR THE FIRST TIME. CHOW FROM SE MICHIGAN ✝️✝️✝️🛐🛐🛐🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🌹❤️🌹🌹🌹💐💐💐💐💐🌹🌹🌹🌹✝️🇺🇸❤️🌞💐
I had some zinnias last year that started out flat, bright red, then continued to add petals until they were perfectly round like a ball, then deepened to a deep burgundy, finishing in a complete golden hue! Breathtaking!
My zinnias are starting to bloom! Thank you for bringing us along on this newer journey. I’m learning so much about flowers. I always thought I never could grow flowers but I just needed a good teacher! Thank you!! 💚🌱
Love your flowers! Would be so neat if you put the names of each flower on the screen when you do the slow views at the end. Loved seeing them up close! ~Ellie
Jill I would love to see the market part for selling flowers. I am starting to grow them for the first time this year. But it's been in my heart for years now. I have zinnias sunflowers mum's and a few others growing right now. I'm so excited 😁 thank you for being an inspiration ☺️🥰
When I was going to college I worked with a Florist and we used the straw flowers as a dried flower. We would harvest and cut the stem to about 2 inches and would shove a florist wire into the stem and let them dry and they would shrink around the wire. and use them making dried arrangements. You can dry statist flowers in bunches upside down and use them also in arrangements.
If you ever have time, I’ve learned a lot from Flower Hill Farm. Nicole is very open about how she runs her business, her successes and failures. She just started a few years ago so is still learning too. She’s located in upstate NY but I’m sure she would grow some of the same flowers as you. 🌼
Yes and Nicole was just recently a guest on The Gardener’s Workshop FB Live. (So good!) Jill be sure to follow Lisa at The Gardeners Workshop on FB. Tons of great info. She’s an incredible teacher!
I just started growing flowers and killed so many this year lol. But on the bright side I now have flowers growing in my garden and they are thriving. I told my husband next year I want to cut flowers for the house because this year was for our new bees we have. But I need lots more flowers in my life!
I’m adding flowers to my vegetable garden to beauty it up and to bring those little pollinators in! Thanks for sharing your life with us! We love you girl! And the whole fam too!
Bachelor's buttons, lime nicotiana, and a good stand of Larkspur can make good fillers, too. Also the old form of coneflowers, echinacea pupurea, which has longer stems than most of the newer varieties, can be a good cut flower, too. It can take a couple of years to get your plants well established so that it comes back year after year, but it will reward you, because it will make new plants if you let a few heads go to seed and just drop them in place.
I’m right there with you girls. First time growing flowers to cut… on a pretty small scale to where I just have one long flower bed I’ve planted stuff in to brighten up the yard. But I plan to cut some to give my mom an I an new bouquet once a week or so. Would love a large scale of flowers though. But I agree with you guys it’s so exciting, fun an harder then it looks! I’m in the hospital with my toddler for at least 5 more days. An I’m bumming out so bad that I’m not home to tend to my plants, see my new roses bloom for the first time ever etc… As long as my teenage daughter keeps my plants alive lol I have the flower bug too for sure!!! My favorites are Zinnias, Snapdragons, Roses & Dahlias. I’m also growing some sunflowers, Moss Roses, Carnations, Delphiniums & Shasta Daisys. Definitely became obsessed with the Dahlias an Zinnias this spring though! Love following you Jill because I’m right on the same level as you as far as learning wise an being a newbie an I really enjoy being able to follow along with you!
Enjoyed your video! Looks like you guys had a really great time! Thanks for sharing so much positivity in a world that can be really negative at times. GOD Bless Y’all. 👍🏻🙏🏻😇🙌🏻😊
I love learning about the marketing part of gardening. I only have a small backyard so just enough for me and my neighbors. I love to learn so I appreciate your channel.
I've learned so much about flowers the past few days since your how to make money on your hobby farm vlog. Now I'm seriously thinking about farming flowers when we move. I already love flowers, especially as a photographer, but now I'm even more obsessed. 😍
If seeds are too daunting for your sis, try rooted plugs or liners. You may have to buy a couple hundred and sourcing may take some research but you would have an instant flower farm and less seedlings to baby. Or try a wildflower pack native to your area and direct sow, some will perennialize and spread making the next year easier.
I'm totally on board for learning more about flowers even though I've always had flower gardens. I'm on a new homestead 1 acre. I have admirers driving by since we tilled up the huge front yard and planted watermelons, corn, pumpkins, sunflowers and tomatoes. So much fun😎👩🌾🤜🤛🍅🌻🍉
I started a (very small) cutflower farm this year so I'm not an expert but ALWAYS strip off at least the lower 2/3 of leaves. #1 the leaves in the water will cause bacteria to grow & bacteria = less vase life #2 the more leaves = the more water the stem will need to uptake which means more work for that stem and can make it harder for the flower to stay hydrated & #3 most of the time flower farmers use a foliage so they don't keep any of the leaves on the flowers for any greenery...
I really like straw flowers. These can be cut and sold out of seasoon since the flower is dry. Also, I would love to learn more about cut flower gardening from you. Good video.
I have some peach straw flowers and some pink and white variety I’ll be starting soon inside and transplanting out, I think we have enough time for a harvest as we have a long growing season. Such pretty flowers 🌸
Lisa Mason Zeigler who wrote the book 'Cool Flowers' has a TH-cam channel called 'The Gardener's Workshop' that you should check out. Her Facebook and Instagram accounts are also packed full of information and a video library. Nicole Pitt of Flower Hill Farm has a fantastic You Tube channel with lots of humor and some great ideas for selling what you grow. Floret's website has a great resources page that is full of growing guides and their favourite varieties. Enjoy the journey
Where did you find the music you used at the end of your video? I Love your channel and can not wait for the transition to take place later this summer. I found your channel from Roots and Refuge channel. I have followed both of you youngsters and love both of you. Your testimony if so refreshing to see!
Do you succession sow your flowers to keep them coming in every week? I heard you say Sean has cut flowers every week but he seems to have so little blooming at a time. Curious minds for beautiful flowers 🌸💖
Hi Jill…do you have issues with bugs chewing on your zinnias? I’m having a terrible time…can you provide a good organic solution for bug chewing? Ty…those zinnias are so great!
I love "Sweet Peas", and their pretty easy. I'm a sub to a well rounded gardening and landscaping channel, that mix in family vlogs to. I've learned a great deal from this beautiful family of "Garden Answer"! Laura is a wealth of knowledge, especially in plants. (And this girl can "burn" in the kitchen! Great taste in dishes for main courses or sides !) They have a clean slate of a piece of land that was neighboring them in front already. This is her 2nd season of planting a large cut flower garden that's only for content creation, friends and family. And also a vegetable garden that is used for the same. Check them out sometime, I don't think they will disappoint to entertain any kind of Gardener. Great vlog and God bless.
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰so much loveliness. And think .. it all began in the garden . How happy we are in the garden 🥰
Jill, the videography of your flowers at the end was just beautiful. ☺️

It's so nice to see a structured backyard with a farm feel

They are poppy’s
Not snap peas, sweet peas. Don't eat those pods!
