I had the same problem with my 2021 pilot. Got a recall notice to take it to my nearest dealership and all they did was cut that big white block zip tie that the harness passes through just before the amp which allowed extra slack to the bundle.
@@AnthonyJ350 @stevendphoto is it this one? Jun 15,2023 - Manufacturer Recall Number ZEM - NHTSA Recall Number23V-431 - American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (Honda) is recalling certain 2019-2022 model year Pilot and 2019-2023 model year Passport vehicles. The Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST) communication coaxial cable was improperly designed and manufactured, resulting in deformed terminals and potentially causing poor, or lost, connections intermittently between the audio display unit and the vehicle cable connector.
There are updated "FAKRA" connectors and a small extension "MOST" cable to add length. But the reality is most of the time it's not enough, they are typically eventually added to new dash and floor harnesses. The vehicle gets gutted to do this.
@@AnthonyJ350 Honda technician here. There is a brand new updated service bulletin for these FAKRA connectors. This time Honda claims they got it right. I believe the service bulletin is 23-047. Ive done a few so far and havent had any issues afterwords.
Good job. By chance is there any evidence of a possible tempering in that area? Possible vibrations causing the wire looms to sag thus causing connection strain?
I've had experience with the crackling with audio for dj equipment. This principle applies to amplifiers for musical instruments. (You might have heard this before) it's a term called "bleeding" when the contact points on the pins or connectors have poor or insufficient contact with surface area. I like that you gave the loom extra slack which may resolve the reach of those pins. Granted that you're a sound engineer you know all about poor grounding on some mickey mouse jobs you've seen lol
@@AnthonyJ350 since the factory harnesses pins are not gold tipped. Theoretically doesn't have as much conductivity as does versus a gold connector. Other metals used attract debris as gold is a much cleaner surface for electronics and pc chips etc

Thanks for sharing your experience!
This is a very well known Recall issue with Honda, mine was fixed right the first time by the Dealer, a few years ago!
Thanks for sharing

For me it's constant popping sounds at times and periodically it says "audio off" where no matter what I do I can't listen to any music
2019-2023 honda pilot and passport
Did you try this fix?
Same here.
@@marcusharrigan6879 take it to the dealer they'll fix it the same day it's a recall they took care of me
Same here and now my screen went completely black.
Is there a video to show how to remove the panel to get to the unit? I can’t find any instructions on how to get to the unit itself. Thank you.
Might be, I didn't make one though.
Same question. Having trouble getting access to the amp

That's interesting. So there's a TSB to notify techs about this issue?
@@AnthonyJ350 yes, very common problem. Blank screen and popping from speakers.
@@AnthonyJ350 yes just search Service Bulletin 20-058

Didn't look like it
Is there a video of disassembling the area to access the wires/plugs?
Sorry, no I didn't make one.

I learned something new! Never heard the term "bleeding" in the application you mentioned.

How do you access the rear panel to make this fix?
Had to take it all apart
How do you get to the amp
Take off the rear quarter panels.
