I am restoring a matching number 71 Chevelle and I am restoring the rad support. I had the support out side for years because I was doing a frame off restoration . And it was rusty and crusty. I took a wire wheel to the rust and sanded with scotch brite . I primed it with rust barrier . I just bought a can of the 5 n 1 and was nervous didnt know how it was going to spray. I just primed the support yesterday after noon I didnt want to take a chance on scratching it up by removing it off the hanger I just went ahead and got out the Satin black rusty I messed with it a little and found out no 4 is good on the flates and 3 was good on the crevices . I am blown away it took the whole can but it looks like it was sprayed with a gun . I am sold two thumbs up I give it a 10 no complaints . I even called the company and gave them some pos feed back
Thanks as always for being the guinea pig. Great to see the nozzle+can is not proprietary. Also way less plastic into the world if you can reuse these on your existing cans or if you break a nozzle you don't waste a whole can.
Happy to guinea pig these :) Yeah, I love that it's a swappable lid, even if they didn't mean for it to be.

Thank you for your review… I went to my local depot store to find I did not have an option… only the new style cans are in stock…. It did work as you demonstrated… i painted 4 eight foot by 1 1/4” metal square tubing… it covered the metal tubing with one coat using the vertical spray option being side by side… when I allow for the metal to dry a little in an California sunny 80 degree day.. when painting the next side there was a little spitting occurred. It did cover easily by the coat being apply. When finished the paint left over for touch up…
I used these cans before and they work great.
This is an awesome video. After watching your demonstration, I'll definitely be trying it out. The only thing I hate is my lack of patience and waiting another week to see your next video on the reviews.

Another great and useful video Nils. Really well done! For those of you out there that have problems with your spray paint cans clogging and then running, here's a small tip. After each use, turn the can upside down and spray out of the nozzle you've just used for several seconds. You’ll see the paint fade away when the drip tube and nozzle are cleared. Since the tube extends to the bottom of most aerosol cans, inverting them exposes the dip tube’s inlet to just the propellant only. Spraying a can upside down like this purges the remaining paint from the tube and the nozzle, keeping the quality of the paint spray as good as new the next time you use it.
This tip was more useful in the past than now. MOST of the hardware store cans i have come across lately have a newer pickup tube convention.
I used one of these types of sprays to paint my truck and the fan tips are amazing. After several attempts with regular spray paint it always came out with lines and splotches. The only problem I had was they only come in solid colors. I had hoped they would come in metallic. I never thought of switching the caps until your video. I used sail blue on my r truck with matte clear. I always get people asking me if I had the truck wrapped. Great video.
I also forgot to mention I did get drips on the horizontal surface of the hood but everywhere else it worked great.

I have been using them and have enjoyed using it on the lowest spray setting lol
From my experience, people get those runs and drip’s when they just hold the nozzle continuously instead of releasing between strokes.
Would these caps/ nozzles Come off to use on a different spray can?

Its a very interesting concept. Back when i wrote graffiti in my teens (legally of course!) We'd swap caps from everything from WD40 with the straw to axe body spray etc. Had also made adapters to fit different types of cans and to transfer paint into empty axe cans (i hate the smell of axe but they're nice pocket sized aerosol cans with a good spray tip that nobody would suspect was full of paint) and be able to mix custom colors so you could make 3 cans of 99¢ colorplace look as nice or better than a $12 can of ironlak

So you have a 3d printer, you know the dimensions of the output and top ring on the can, you can likely figure out the orifices for the different spray patterns fairly easily. How hard would it be to create 5 separate tops (the multi top thing is likely patented) and sell them for a profit with cleaning instructions?

It costs a dollar for the five in one nozzle and you can swap it to other cans at least a couple of times. Doesn't seem like there's a lot of profit to be made
I also don't think that your average 3D printer is going to have the resolution to do the orifices.
1$ more just for this cap is massively overpaying, each of these special nozzles normally costs between 3 and 10 cents. These nozzles can be easily cleaned if you turn the can upside down and spray until no more color comes. then exchange a nozzle for another. These nozzles can also be changed from one can to another without any effort. Also, the wide jet nozzles can be easily rotated from horizontal to vertical and thus only one additional nozzle instead of 2 to buy.
So its an invention that no one needs and unnecessarily costs money.

Reading comments and ratings on any site reminds me that there are folks out there that aren't happy with anything they get or blame the things they use for their own short comings. I try to give realistic ratings and have stopped even looking at the 1star ratings unless the product has a much higher percentage of very low marks. Sometimes the products are crap. My biggest problem with Lowe's and Home Depot is the almost criminal lack of website inventory maintenance, the associates you talk to on the phone use the same website as the general public. When you call to double check an item before you drive 30 miles to the only store with the product you need just to find out that not only the product isn't there but has actually been discontinued is such a disappointment.
Great points. I think it takes a lot more to get someone to leave a review on a product they're happy with vs getting someone to review and "warn people" about something they're unhappy with. I'm trying to be as fair as possible as I prepare this next video but it's more of a "let people know how this works" situation, since I think many of us are naive to the source of these reviews.

Reviews are useless. You really HAVE to try the product for yourself. I think that may be the point of the reviews. 🤪 Interesting product, and it's great that you can use it on cheaper products! Maybe they'll make the top proprietary now that you've pointed it out. So buy some cans before it's too late. Now that I think of it, I'm surprised some third-part never came up with this.
You never know :) Yeah, changing the shape of the cans is definitely going to cost a lot more so hopefully that'll keep them using the same ones. But at least I have a couple just in case. Thanks for watching!

Tip: For your tips. You can quickly & easily clean your spray can tips by spraying them with Brake Cleaner and shaking them off after each use to prevent paint buildup.
Yeah and don't wear a respirator mask like the people in the video ☠
Lol, late to the game - tasker type companies pay people to go on commercial and news sites to leave reviews or start threads. Most use a script so you can actually find the same review or conversation across multiple sites. They've been doing it for 15 or 20 years now but really ramped up in the last 10. There are people in places like China and India for whom this is there full time job - they sit in a tiny cubicle or elbow to elbow at long table and just tap away on their phones all day. You could can even hire one of these "companies" to leave reviews on your channel - which is why TH-cam has a rule about it (well you know that rule is being broken.)
It's pretty sad. What I'm finding on Home Depot and Lowe's is less about random paid people leaving reviews for products they don't know and more about the method by which they get products into people's hands in exchange for reviews. It's not necessarily bad or wrong, but people need to be aware of how this and where this is being done.
