    🚀🔍 #FluidBiomechanics #MovementMastery #JoinTheJourneyHaving elevated shoulders refer to the movement distortion where the shoulder complex and muscles are raised up above the neutral alignment due to muscular strength imbalances around the rib cage and back muscles (rhomboids and trapezius). This can lead to pain and tension around the neck and shoulders, tension headaches, uneven hips and lumbo-pelvic instability.
    Fluid Health and Fitness is a proactive health management company that offers training programs to restore and improve human biomechanical movement health. The company’s mission is to bridge the gap between rehabilitation and functional movement by providing an integrated, scalable, and traceable motion system.

    I watch this video on repeat. It would be so awesome if you made a follow along video with full sets and reps of all exercises so we could follow along with you and get all our reps in while following along with you ❤️

    Doing these exercises for 3 days gave me more progress than 2 months of PT. I was dealing with adhesive capsulitis as per doctors but I did have an excessive shrug that exacerbated my neck pain and compromised the form in my exercises. Once I started getting the shrug under control the shoulder showed a huge improvement. Thank you!

    Thank you. This video helped more in 30 minutes then months of PT, chiro and massage. In the beginning, you said there is a high correlation with hip mobility and the ribcage. My hips are super locked up too, which is probably contributing to my shrug problem. I do regular squats/barbell, walking, biking, and rolling/stretching my hip flexors/quads/hamstrings/glutes bit they are still so locked up. Can you recommend a video for hips?

    hi, i have a question and hope you can give guidance. starting last year, whenever i lay down on my side to sleep, the shoulder that is not on the bed automatically shrugs without me noticing. I have to focus to realize that its shrugged and relax it. this cycle repeats many times. fortunately there is no pain, but i wonder if you can identify what causes this?

    • @FluidHealthandFitness
      @FluidHealthandFitness  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Tom W thank you for watching. Often times due to asymmetrical patterns of movement or from just overuse in general, our muscles can become either adaptively shortened, or hyper as they try to balance the center of gravity for the specific area or for the global movement system imbalances. The way to determine the cause is through a movement/ gait analysis. If you're interested we'd be glad to offer a virtual-video call to complete the assessment. It's complimentary. If we find a distortion we have several options to remedy it. Online classes, privates, etc. Let us know..meetings.hubspot.com/salessupport12

      @TomWarrenPhotography 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FluidHealthandFitness from what you described, it sounds like the end result would be one side acting diffferently from the other. In my case, i have the issue on both sides equally. The side that acts up is the one that is free to move while laying down on my side. It does not happen while lying on my back.

      @@TomWarrenPhotography just remember that compensation is rarely one dimension or exclusively global or redundancy based. It is usually a combination of compensations. The sequence of dysfunction can be expressed as: ligament sprain - inhibited muscle - delayed activation - muscle strains - altered stretch reaction - or adaptive tight muscles. The muscles, and ligaments, can be protecting themselves from a prior trauma that occurred.

    Elevat4ed shoulders, are not the same as slumping or slouching. My shoulders are naturally high. That;s bone structure. I hurt myself over the years trying to change that by lowering them. Bad idea. Go with the natural structure unless it's damaged. My posture improves when I allow my shoulders go to where they belong and so, I;m trying to retrain myself to the correction. My entire being feels better and well aligned when I do this.

    Good shoulder positioning is not depression and retraction.

      @@playermartin286 My 2 cents - I also think it's bad advice. Down and back had me in constant nerve pain for nearly 2 years. You should not be forcing your shoulders down and back, not for posture or for working out. Your scapula needs to move, never should it be locked in one position. If you're keeping your scapula depressed and retracted you are going to cause muscle imbalances, restrict movement, and inevitably hurt yourself.

    • @souryadipbanerjee4379
      @souryadipbanerjee4379 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The issue is that all the muscles addressed here are postural muscles. You should never voluntarily manipulate these muscles and “keep your shoulders down and retracted”. It is the muscles job to do that. If you have to do that yourself voluntarily on a chronic basis, it means that the rhomboids aren’t strong enough to hold that position. Solution- these muscles have to be strengthened which are responsible for maintaining good posture. Voluntarily doing this will only overload associated muscles and cause compensation on a chronic basis= more pain.
