Great video Gary. Very helpful. Just wondering if it is safe to walk from the airport to Harris Hotel at night. My flight arrives at 9 pm. I am just anxious that there might be muggers in the area?
Safe in that area, late night (12pm) is usually when i arrive when i go outside of Bali, 11 years living in Bali using this method never once had a problem.
EXCELLENT!!! Thank you One suggestion keep your printed comments on screen for a few more seconds for old guy eyes. So much is changing so rapidly at the airport that I’m sure you’ll be back again soon. Cheers
The best thing to do is to pause the video. Also, if you find that someone speaks too fast or slowly for you, you can click on the "gear/setting" button and slow down or speed up the video. I do it all of the time. Well wishes!
I always took Grab in front of Haris Hotel😁, before Covid was my last time I visited then I walked outside the airport by Motorbikes parkingspot. Now I see they changed the exit gate, but I think stil the same distance 👍
Me too I have always taken grab from the Harris hotel as it is always the best priced and quickest option. You will overpay considerably inside the airport and by the time as you get outside of the airport if using a taxi from inside the airport it will be the same time as walking to the Harris hotel.
Yes have metered taxis but very difficult to get one inside the airport, literally all transport from the airport ask fixed prices. Some people say go upto the departures level and go outside and catch a bluebird taxi from where they drop people off for flight departures, however i don't personally advise this unless you know exactly where you are going and what the price should be. from my 20 years of experience and 11 years living in Bali it is very difficult to find an honest and reliable driver that will use the meter and even if they do use the meter they will take you the long way round and hit all the traffic to bump up the price. Most bluebird drivers ask for a fixed price and it will be in-line with what bluebird charges from their counter inside the airport. Grab & go car are transparent prices ( you know exactly what you will pay)but unfortunately grab have become very expensive from inside the airport now. If you walk to the harris hotel and use the go car or grab car applications from there that will be the most transparent and 100% the cheapest price. If you don't want to buy a sim card then still is best to walk to the harris hotel and just get a bluebird from there and use one that will use the meter. No easy anymore inside the airport.

I am using the Harris hotel transfer service form Int’l arrivals as I have a big surfboard bag with me. They have shown me a pic of a little money changer ‘outside’ the airport but after 30 or so trips I can’t picture where it is. It has a brown wood panel look front counter with a green wall to its left and green seats outside for customers. Is that out the front near the Grab lounge?
Legian food court also good street food place but a little more pricy than Dewi street food court, also many more local warungs on jalan Dewi street this is a great street to find local food at good prices, i will make a video soon in this area to show this great street. There are also some fabulous local warungs on jalan nakula which are featured in my Arana suites video.
Thanks Gary, as usual for a seasoned Bali traveller like myself, you are on the mark. Travel is much more expensive then the past. BUT is Australia we pay 2-3 times more.
Thank you so much for those precious information, I’ll be flying to DPS in October, can you tell me if I can store my luggage at the airport? Not sure if I’ve missed it ! Thanks so much
Yes you can walk from the airport to kuta. No fees to be added to prices unless you are travelling to Sanur or Ubud and you want to use the toll road, but you can also travel on the bypass ngurah rai to sanur & ubud without toll road fees, prices shown in the video are using the bypass not the toll road.

Thank you for the video. I will just walk to Harris Hotel when i will arrive to Bali next time. Can you also do video about teman bus? How to pay there, how to get non cash card for paying there and how good is this service. Thank you so much. 👍🏻
I will be going back to the airport again next month to check because i was shocked at the prices of taxis from the airport so i think this video and information may need to keep updating the prices for car & bike taxis that i show in the video even from the harris hotel were unusually high in comparison to the prices from the airport in my last visit there 3 months prior to this video.
Good stuff Gary, the last couple of times we went to Bali before Covid to avoid the taxi costs we would walk out of the arrivals section and all the shops then take the stairs up to the departure area then walk down the ramp to where the taxi's use to drop off and ask a taxi driver that had just dropped off people for a lift. I suppose that option has been stopped now, we are going back to Bali for the first time since Covid later on in the year.
You may still be able to do that however you will have to be very careful because if the taxi drivers waiting in arrivals see that it will cause trouble for the driver & also unless you know the approx price to your destination then I don't advise using this method as there is no transparency in price. Many of the bluebird drivers do not want to use the meter and ask for a fixed price and even if they use the meter they go the long way round and hit all the busy traffic to bump up the metered fair rate. Grab & go car prices are transparent and if using the applications from the Harris hotel I 100% guarantee this will be the cheapest option from the airport. Things have changed in a big way now at the airport with taxi prices.
Beachwalk shopping mall kuta - international airport price: car 64,000 motorbike 23,000 beachwalk shopping mall kuta - harris hotel price: car 45,000 motorbike 16,000 . These are the current prices using grab application. Hope this information helps
I am not 100% sure on this as my visa is different to that of a tourist visa therefore i already have my visa prior to arrival in bali. Last time i came through immigration 2 months ago i only saw everyone walk straight to the queue at the immigration counters.
Have many places to eat along jalan raya seminyak, also Jalan arjuna leading to double 6 beach & many along the road at double six beach, you can also try Jalan Nakula this is a great eat street.
Nice thank you for this video. We are coming to Bali soon and yes a lot of people will asking for taxi with higher price. I pay rp 500k to ubud but when they drop us they asking extra so in all i pay rp 600k. That was 3 years ago
All taxis inside the airport now are very expensive. My findings upon making this video found that walking to the Harris hotel and using the grab or go application to order your transport is the cheapest option, however this method might not be suitable for all as you do have to consider taking your luggage along the track to the Harris hotel.
@@balibygary9718 thats true. Now is the choice which one they choice. I speak balinese and I can just take one from airport and ofcourse bargains for a good price before decide to go in the taxi. Nowadays a lot of asking so much price, specially when you are white or tourists. Thanks Again Gary your video is helping a lot of tourists for sure👍
@@JanahLife there is no bargaining at the airport unless you can meet a private driver or catch a taxi that is dropping someone off at the airport. Things have changed a lot now at the airport since the pandemic. There is not so many private drivers at the airport like before lingering around waiting for customers, you need to walk to the carpark area to find them and maybe you can negotiate a better price.
No because this can cause problems and fighting with the bluebird counter drivers at the counter area if they see this happening so i will not show that as an option. It is still less than half price from the Harris hotel usimg the grab application taxi even if you could find an honest driver to take you to your destination from inside the airport. If you really know the streets of Bali then the bus from the airport is the cheapest option. If you took a taxi from inside the airport these taxi can take a long time to get outside of the airport due to having to qeue at the payment gate upon exiting the airport you may as well just take the short walk to the Harris hotel use the grab or go app and save a considerable amount of money and also probably arrive at your destination hotel quicker.
I don't think any hotel has a free airport pick-up and even if they say they do the price will be hidden in the room price. If staying at Harris hotel close to airport better to just walk as it will be quicker than a taxi.
I have not being to the airport for a while but I guarantee you will not get cheaper prices than those from the Harris Hotel, I have always used this location, I have lived in Bali 11 years first started coming to Bali 2001, I only include my findings and back it up with proof using the Grab application in the video. People in the comments have told me it is exactly as I say best price was from the Harris hotel. I just use the video to show all options available, the tourist can then choose which option they take. There is also a bus service which can save you money but it is a bit complicated unless you know the streets and areas of Bali and you would also probably need to use a taxi to complete your journey as this is not a door to door service. I plan to visit again in May and update the information. It is not easy to film at the airport because of security. I have just checked on my phone from the grab pick-up point just on the outside of the airport fence to Sanur ranges from 228,000-376,000 depending on car type and size, from Harris hotel for same journey ranges from 72,000 -88,000 depending on car size. I cannot check the prices from inside the airport without being at the airport but they will be the same or probably more than from the Grab pick-up point on the outside of the airport. TRIP ADVISOR IS USUALLY FULL OF MANY FAKE REVIEWS AND INFORMATION I NEVER USE THIS SITE AS A GUIDE.
Thanks Gary,I don't doubt your video as you show grab screenshots of prices. a well known 'tripadvisor' has prolific posters suggesting' get a grab from the airport for next to nothing' I suspect they haven't done this.I'll take a walk to the Harris hotel if I'm up to it.cheers.

Great video and very useful information Gary, thank you! We have been to Bali 4 years ago and heading up there again soon, looks like a lot has changed. Do you think we will be able to take Grab from Harris Hotel even if we get out of the airport around 11.30pm? We have a late flight that lands around 10.30pm, so I'm not sure if we will be able to get something this late! The hotel offered us quite pricey transport to Nusa Dua (280k), so we want to take the cheaper way. Do you think we will be alright to get something around that time? Thank you!
Many flights land during the night period and immigration can be very slow, i came through immigration on a night flight from kuala lumpur to bali and i was 1hr 30 minutes in a queue some people i have spoke to have waited longer than I did. Usually grab cars will still be available around middnight, i will check tonight using the grab application to see if it is still possible and let you know. Best you download grab and go car and have the 2 applications, they are both very similar prices.
Ok i have just checked on the grab app from Harris Hotel (12pm midnight) to Nusa Dua Beach showing drivers still available price 100-119,000 ( grab car 1-4 seats/ grab xl 1-6 seats)
it really depends on where you plan to travel to during your stay in Indonesia. if you only intend on staying in the tourist areas of Bali and sticking to the main streets then you should be pretty safe. if you plan on travelling to other islands and areas of Indonesia then maybe you should consider Dengue Vaccine & anti malarial tablets. mosquitos can also be a problem in Bali depending on your travel destinations.
Amazing video, so helpful. Can you please also perhaps make a video for people who don't know how to ride motorbikes and what are their options? Thanks!
Many thanks for your comment and suggestion, where do you intend on travelling in bali? Do you just wish to stay in the popular tourist areas and just require information on how to get around or do you wish to travel to other less tourist areas in Bali?
@@balibygary9718 Thank you for your prompt response! I wish to do both, getting around to sightseeing and stepping out for lunch/dinner at different places. @@nuzeefasayed4134 motorbike is undoubtably the best way to travel around Bali. Other options around the main tourist areas are electric bike rental, gojek/gocar/grab bike/ grab car are inexpensive & very transparrent online taxi application services that many tourists use to get around. Bluebird taxis circle the streets in all the popular tourist areas where you stand on the side of the street and flag the taxi down, blubird are meter taxis. Travelling to the furthest parts of bali you need to rent a motorbike or car, you can also find many Indonesians on the streets offering transportation services by car and motorbike to many destinations around Bali. Car & driver 10-12 hr prices range from 500-750,000 (price includes driver/car/ fuel) price usually depends on distance to be travelled.
Is that telkomsel in airport same as grapari in denpasar? Last year i went to Bali. And try to get simcard in that XL counter . Unfortunately they couldn't help me. They said i have to unlock my provider service with AT&T😢. After i got back to America, my friend told me i should've gone to Grapari.
Yes same, that is the main office in Denpasar. Xl main office is located on sunset road. Sorry to hear you had problems with Xl, usually they are pretty good, I use both Telkomsel & Xl.
I just checked from Harris hotel -kuta beach (beachwalk shopping mall) on grab app price is showing promo 13,000 (normal 25,000) xl car 1-6 persons 17,000 (normal price 29,000) motorbike promo 2,000 (normal price 12,000). Hope this helps😁. Price sunday 30th april 2023 time 08:00
I don't know anything about Esim. Best providers are Telkomsel and XL best deal for tourist currently is from smartfren. Prices of sim cards in airport are overpriced however unless you plan on going to the companies offices direct you must be careful if you buy a sim/data package from the street as most are split sim packages but sold to you as an unlimited data package. Airport is most expensive but you will get the package you pay for.
Glad to hear you got a better deal on the sim card than those at the airport, on my research of sim outside the airport for tourists smartfren was the best deal. Best prices on taxi car and motorbike was from harris hotel. The purpouse of the video is just to show all options available, the final decision on the option to take rests with the tourist😁.
Have read in an Facebook Group that Someone having problems to register a telekomsel Simcard in an iPhone. Do they offer to show you that the Card you buy does actually work in your phone?
That is why i would only reccomend that you buy the simcard from either the providers at the airport or the actual telecommunication companies offices, buying from the street can be a problem unless you know a trustworthy place. Keep your receipt if you buy from the airport or the telecommunication offices they will fix it if any problems from the street there will be no guarantee. Once they install your sim card you can try it straight away to see if it works
I would not say that is cheap, using gocar application from the Harris hotel (just outside the airport) to seminyak village mall in seminyak would be 50-70,000 idr (depending on time of day for travel ). 150,000 is probably better than you will get from taxi inside the airport.
Yes i agree the others at the airport were even more expensive. They were asking 300 just to kuta. I will go back next month and check again the prices because prices had changed drastically from my last vist 3 months ago.
Harris hotel do pick up from the airport every hour. Using grab inside the airport is high price but still the only choice i would personally use of all the taxi providers at the airport because they are the only company that provides transparent prices.
It's hard to say exactly but maybe 400-500 meters from the grab lounge in the arrivals hall. What you also have to consider is that if you take transport from inside the airport it will take the taxi quite a long time to get outside of the airport because the queue can be quite long as when leaving the airport each car has to pass through a ticket office to pay for parking inside the airport. Also if you are travelling to Kuta area it will be so much closer going from the Harris hotel as taxis use a different route than transport leaving from inside the airport. all transport leaving from the inside the airport goes the long way around using the bypass ngurah rai. The video should be used to give you an idea of all transport methods available going to the harris hotel will be a little difficult walk if you have suitcases as the pathway leading to the outside of the airport along the route i show in the video is a little uneven surface, once on the road leading to the Harris hotel the road is good. Harris hotel will offer the cheapest form of transportation option from the airport area using either grab/go applications or meter taxi.
Oh you should do it easy in 10-15 minutes, once you get outside the fence line exit the road is flat & smooth and easy to follow to the harris, just watch the video and make sure you know where to turn left, do not take the first turning on the left as that leads to the motorbike parking area for the airport. Let me know how you get on. I would love to film this walk with a suitcase just to show how easy it is. I have used this way for over 10 years😁. If you are travelling with backpacks then this is so easy route to take. When are you coming to Bali?

Great video Gary. Very helpful. Just wondering if it is safe to walk from the airport to Harris Hotel at night. My flight arrives at 9 pm. I am just anxious that there might be muggers in the area?

Thank you for your advice, my girlfriend and I took a Grab in front of the Harris hotel for just 38k to Legian.
You are welcome glad to help😊
I always took Grab in front of Haris Hotel😁, before Covid was my last time I visited then I walked outside the airport by Motorbikes parkingspot. Now I see they changed the exit gate, but I think stil the same distance 👍
Me too I have always taken grab from the Harris hotel as it is always the best priced and quickest option. You will overpay considerably inside the airport and by the time as you get outside of the airport if using a taxi from inside the airport it will be the same time as walking to the Harris hotel.
Hi Gary, thank you so much for doing this, Are there no metered taxis like Bluebird?
@@balibygary9718 thank you. Do I have to use Rupiah for VOA or are there other options?

I am using the Harris hotel transfer service form Int’l arrivals as I have a big surfboard bag with me. They have shown me a pic of a little money changer ‘outside’ the airport but after 30 or so trips I can’t picture where it is. It has a brown wood panel look front counter with a green wall to its left and green seats outside for customers. Is that out the front near the Grab lounge?
There is a small moneychanger near the Grab lounge.

13:02 will there be additional highway toll fees that will have to be added to those prices? Can't you walk from the airport to Kuta?
Yes you can walk from the airport to kuta. No fees to be added to prices unless you are travelling to Sanur or Ubud and you want to use the toll road, but you can also travel on the bypass ngurah rai to sanur & ubud without toll road fees, prices shown in the video are using the bypass not the toll road.

th-cam.com/video/A09WSdAXJBU/w-d-xo.html
Is it the same to Bali airport from Kuta beach? Go to the Harris Hotel first is better directly to the airport. It is much cheaper!
Beachwalk shopping mall kuta - international airport price: car 64,000 motorbike 23,000 beachwalk shopping mall kuta - harris hotel price: car 45,000 motorbike 16,000 . These are the current prices using grab application. Hope this information helps

Hi thank you for this video. I was wondering where the tourist visa purchases are made at the airport?
I am not 100% sure on this as my visa is different to that of a tourist visa therefore i already have my visa prior to arrival in bali. Last time i came through immigration 2 months ago i only saw everyone walk straight to the queue at the immigration counters.
You can do it online b4 arriving in Bali saves you wasting time at the airport
Yes visa on arrival cost 35 dolar
Thank you for this wonderful guide. Is it possible to walk with 2 luggage and one kids to Harris hotel from 9pm arrival?
Yes it is possible it's pavement and road all the way.
R there any videos on best eateries around seminyak?
Have many places to eat along jalan raya seminyak, also Jalan arjuna leading to double 6 beach & many along the road at double six beach, you can also try Jalan Nakula this is a great eat street.
Hi Gary coming to Bali for 16 days later in year do we have to get a visa Thanks

U tried goin to departure hall upstairs n flagging down a bluebird??
Doesn't Harris hotel have a free bus from the airport? Where do you pick up this bus Gary?
I don't think any hotel has a free airport pick-up and even if they say they do the price will be hidden in the room price. If staying at Harris hotel close to airport better to just walk as it will be quicker than a taxi.
great video, i want to do the last opion but is it safe at night to walk there? iwill arrive on 9 pm :)
No need to worry, you will be safe.

Hi Gary, are the grab rates from the airport still inflated in line with the taxi mafia as per your video? I see people elsewhere suggesting otherwise.

I will be for the first time... which internet provvider you suggest and which one between Esim card or the usual card.. Thanks Gary...
Hi Gary I went to tellekoncel at Bali mall Galeria SIM card 25GB for 150k and I found the Blue bird taxis the best or Grab
I was quoted 150k pickup from airport to seminyak and back to airport in agoda app.
Is it cheap?
I would not say that is cheap, using gocar application from the Harris hotel (just outside the airport) to seminyak village mall in seminyak would be 50-70,000 idr (depending on time of day for travel ). 150,000 is probably better than you will get from taxi inside the airport.
@balibygary9718 thanks Gary
Im going to Buy Euro
13:06 That is a crazy price from Grab to go to Sanur Rp269.000, it's more expensive than the other Taxi companies!
Yes i agree the others at the airport were even more expensive. They were asking 300 just to kuta. I will go back next month and check again the prices because prices had changed drastically from my last vist 3 months ago.
how much is grab from the airport to harris hotel?
Harris hotel do pick up from the airport every hour. Using grab inside the airport is high price but still the only choice i would personally use of all the taxi providers at the airport because they are the only company that provides transparent prices.
How long of a walk is it from the airport to the Harris Hotel?
So would you say a 10 or 15-minute walk? I'm thinking about walking to the Harris Hotel.
