    many say they do not want a thumb safety, so, do not put it on if you do not want the safety. remember you can buy two Ruger Security 380 for one Equalizer.

    • @FamilyFirearmReviews
      @FamilyFirearmReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That is true. The thumb safety is super easy to take off. Sweeps right down.

      True. But the Equalizer is optics ready!

    Thanks for your post. I don't have the Equalizer but do have several 9mm compact firearms. I've had the Ruger Security 380 and it has become my favorite 380 handgun. The grip is extremely comfortable, and the tritium front sight is easy to bick up.

    • @chrissewell1608

      Not tritium! Is just fiberoptic.

    Although at 67 my favorite caliber is still 45 acp, I did pick up a security 380 for range fun. I think it a a very fun range gun and shoots well. Definitely a lot less recoil than the lcp max, shoots like a 22lr. Have about 300 trouble free rounds thru mine. Since I carry my lcp max primarily, I wound not feel under armed with the security 380. In the winter months, I may carry one of my 9mm or 45 acp’s. In Mi UP there was a few inches of snow. Down state we have had flurries but 70 today.

      That's great. I'm glad you like the Ruger. It is a great shooter and I always throw it in the range bag when we go.

    I bought the Security 380 for my 70 your old Dad and the Equalizer for me. They are both awesome to shoot. I use the Equalizer as my edc. And my Dad uses the Security 380 as his edc.

    Bought the Ruger for my wife and added a Veridian green laser for her ! She loves it and so it's off to the range we go !

      I bought the 380 for my wife too, she just hasn't gotten out to shoot it yet. I ran the 10 round mag through it with Winchester white box ammo, worked well. Curious to see how the 100gr reloads I bought will work .

    She looks a lot better and more controlled shooting the 380.

    Good complete review. I have the Ruger and have shot the EZ before. I also have a S&W shield plus. I prefer the Ruger almost entirely because it doesn’t have the grip safety. The safety on the Ruger is perfect, easy off and you won’t accidentally re-engage due to the way it pivots. The Ruger will likely be a little more ammo sensitive, as I noticed one FTF in the review. I have had the same issue with one particular brand in my shooting. Good ammo has been 100% in the Ruger after break in. Thank you S&W for coming out with the Equalizer, as now I have a 15 (14) round mag for my shield plus. I alternate carry between the Ruger and the Shield plus. BTW the Ruger can use the existing Security 9 holsters, lots of options too. Cheers.

    The security 380 is my home defense gun because I worry about over penetration through a wall and into a neighbors house, and the equalizer is my out of the house weapon. I also own a se mp2.0 subcompact 9mm

      Lauren carries the ruger 380 and I normally carry the equalizer. Did you throw a dot on either?

    Thank you for another great review. I like the .380 pistols for pocket carry but I'm really enjoying the Equalizer. It's got everything I need and nothing I don't.

    Great video and review. I'm from North Central PA and almost thought you were doing the review at the range I'm a member of, Keystone Sportsmen Association in Muncy. Same type pistol range, rifle range. Pa looks like it's in complete hibernation during the winter months. Your channel earned a subscriber with this review. I also ordered a Ruger security 380 due to diminished shoulder strength from surgeries and am rotating it into my EDC. Look forward to more videos.

    I like that safety feature as it's the same on the Security 9 so accidently putting the safety on is not likely. I just ordered a Security 380 with an extra 15-round mag.

    Thanks for doing this review/comparison. I have shot the Equalizer and full-size Ruger Security-9 in addition to several other pistols. I did purchase a Shield Plus after several rentals of the range model (found it used and figured it was a good buy for the price) and it has served me well on the range so far, but I still intend to purchase the Equalizer and Security-9 Compact as soon as I can since I do have some muscle rigidity issues (a lifelong condition in my case). I will say that the S&W CSX is also very easy to rack and shoots well despite (or perhaps in spite of) being much smaller than either of the aforementioned pistols, so that one is also on my to-buy list. If you haven't already reviewed it, I recommend it.

      Thank you for watching! We haven't come across one yet but I have heard it is similar to the Kimber 380. If we come across it I will definitely check it out. I get excited anytime there is something I can function well! ~ Lauren

      @@FamilyFirearmReviews thank you for the reply. One thing to be mindful of re: the CSX is that some reviewers have mentioned a supposed "false reset" on the trigger, at least on some of the first models. From what I hear, the newer ones don't have that issue and I personally have never noticed it on the one that I've rented (and I've rented it 3 - 4 times). A shop employee might be able to help you find one that doesn't have that issue, or perhaps you can find a video that will explain/show what to look for (I think it has to do with the extractor or something? I don't remember).

    I don't remember who it was but I did see a guy have an optic on that 380 and it looks like what they did. They slid the real side out and slid the optic with an adapter. It's sliding in the butt in the dovetail I don't. I only saw one would like that but he did have one on there

    • @FamilyFirearmReviews
      @FamilyFirearmReviews  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have seen that before. You remove the rear sight and slide it in. I just don't like losing my sights in the event that my dot fails.

    • @roberts2931
      @roberts2931 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Galloway Precision has an optic plate mount were the rear sight is removed and the adapter plate replaces it. I believe it has a cowitness metal blade sight built into the adaptor.

    You really got to check out the whole meter tail slide on grips. Your other half like that a little more. There are rubbery grip and fills out your hand a little bit more. Not a whole lot and it's really comfortable. I have it with the 380 and in fact I do have the nine security 9 mm compact and I have the grips on there. Also kind of hard to get on but once you get them on I like them with my hands are further large and it makes my pills up my hand a little more

    The Security 380 is getting a lot of reviews complaining of light primer strikes. Be careful buyers.
