I didn't know where to express this feeling so I'm just going to say it here. The single greatest loss in the entire history of modern music. He was brilliant from the word go, quickly became a genius, and never ever stopped creating, evolving, improving and expanding. He was utterly relentless, an energy and drive never seen before or since. The thought of what he could have done in another 10/15/20 years is just frightening. I honestly believe he would have taken the whole world by now.
Ill never forget seeing Jay play at Amoeba in Hollywood...he had a ton of snacks and beers on stage and tossed a single brew out in the crowd and I caught it, got the nod of approval and pounded it...the vato behind me totally wanted to kill me cause I made a major leap for that brew.
Dang. I knew he was a phenomenal musician, but I didn't know he was so down the earth... In a disturbed, drug infused way. Man when he pulled out a galaxy 500 record it really hit me. RIP
Matthew Young anyone who spent any significant time listening to Jay's music or knew him as a person, wasn't surprised when he died. But that still doesn't mean we can't celebrate his life and not shit up the comment section by saying "he kinda brought it on himself though". Fuck off with your holier than thou attitude. That's not what Jay was about and it's sure as fuck not what I'm about. "People around me hope that I don't die."
God I love seeing actual record stores. I pray people get back into them on a mass scale because there was nothing like vinyl records in the past, the artwork on the albums, physically seeing the record spin not to mention the quality of sound being a million times better than digital shit.
I keep coming back to this video. I don't know why cuz I always end up bummed out by the end. He seemed like such a geniune dude. and the last three albums he released are future classics.
jay was a fucking great legend. especially to those who don't believe in themselves. I like how he buys an abba album and other albums without worrying about the people will see him. he was so awesome we'll never see him again. sorry. I just hate how when I go to my local record store there's all these fucking hipsters with leather jackets looking at me like I don't belong there but bitch I can play over eight instruments I love music.
Seeing Jay in a striped shirt in front of a poster of Kurt also in a striped shirt is so uncanny! Both were talented musicians, grew up in screwed up neighborhoods, did drugs, and left this Earth at a young age
Syd Barrett. The original leader of Pink Floyd and one of the most beautiful and brilliant artists to ever exist. Released 2 solo albums and one with the Floyd. Lost his mind from being too pressured and taking copious amounts of acid. Just melted his fuckin' brain.
***** what the fuck are you talking about. having an overdose of cocaine and then die doesn't mean god is cruel. he probably would be still alive if he didn't take drugs. so shut up. thats not gods part
When I was living in Columbus Ohio , I used to frequent this sleazy bar called Bernies Distillery and Bagels😐 In the daytime it was homeless drunks and at night..ummmm. Different. You never knew. I would be like I don't give a fuck about music...want to slam beers...i can just go next door. Worked for awhile. One of those nights Jay Reatard. Never heard of him. But it was so good afterwards I hunted him down and told him so. He gave me a card with a # I wish I still had but life happened. True story.
Galaxie 500 is pretty underground, Dean and Jay’s guitar playing tho not the same has some similarities in the sense that they seemed to have mastery of the instrument in making noise that no one else could. They were both self-taught and made up for any deficiencies with shear talent and turned them into strengths.
Oh man... that ending. I know he's gone but that was HARSH, how it just cut from him being so alive to RIP... fucked up shit man, I hope none of us have to face that fate for a while yet
I started seeing Jay play live with The Reatards and he always played full-throttle every single time and everybody else on stage realized they couldn’t slouch through the set.
Back In The USA is a thin sounding record but it still kicks ass. It's kind of a shame that High Time was their last studio record. They were finally getting to a decent place with their production.
Aloong with Kurt Cobain on the wall, Nick Drake, a 70s folk artist (died at a young age due to drug overdose) is bearing a wild resemblance to Jay on the cover of "watch me fall'
@narrowsparrow Persuaders "s/t" LP on Savage Records. Jay's label, Shattered Records, reissued it on CD with some live tracks as "Forced To F*ck" (2006).
jay's crossed flying v's tattoo is based off of an album cover. i've seen the sleeve in another youtube video where they're in his old house. -- anyone know what that record is??
I always come back to watch this episode every once in a while.
It was the first one I watched of the in my bag videos love this video
Still coming back?

weird how i miss someone ive never met so fucking much
I still think about him from time to time, like I lost a family member, it's weird. His music was powerful and really relatable. RIP Jay.
Some of us rockers are just cosmically connected to Jay Reatard and other fallen heroes.

Glad this is still up. R.I.P. Jay. We still love you, dude ❤
Abba is underrated for their musicianship their production is also hauntingly beautiful.
Abba one of the best selling multi-platinum record-selling bands of all time lmao. They're classic not underrated
"ABBA, GOD and ME"
"Sounds REALLY good on drugs."
Rest in peace Jay.
He kinda had it coming
@@truth135 Doesn't mean we can't appreciate the man and the music he gave us. No sense in be a downer.
@@afauxican_american i love jay's music. But people who abuse drugs are playing with fire and it's not surprise when they get burned.

Nothing quite beats finding an artist and discovering they’ve been on this show ❤

RIP. I still listen all the time. Anytime I make a mixtape for someone new he makes the cut.
See you again in another time, Jay. Thanks for the great music
I've been hip to this mans music for a little while so I'm shocked just now realizing that he's dead. Rest In Peace he seemed like a really cool guy.
RIP Jay. You're the man.

He died 8 days before this was uploaded...
which happened to be a day after my 16th birthday
old comment but you can hear that he's kinda sick in the video, didn't he die from cocaine toxicity and being sick?

Jay is rocking on the heaven now
This makes me so sad to watch. RIP Jay, great musician and apparently great music taste also.

really wish his career had not of been cut short
At one point in the video you can see Syd Barrett, Jay, and Kurt Cobain in the same frame.... just sayin.
And one of the Nirvana logo just a couple posters down. **insert heart eyes emoji**

Oh holy shit, people from the 2000s are already washed up bitter old grandpas? Not enough of the 90s guys are dead yet for you to start bitching!
RIp Jay. Miss you bro.

Yes it is going to be in theaters. :) They are making the documentary putting it in theaters.
came out Mar 2
Jay's "whats in my bag" was the best because he didn't fill it with old underground music to show just so he seems deep or whatever

when I heard this scientists song (00:34'') for the first time I was kind of... MESMERIZED for a while
I think that's the morbid beauty of the harsh cut. He was so alive, and then just died.
I'm just bummed I never got to see him live.
rest in peace.
The sniffing is sad to see. This dudes vibe is straight out of the 90's. Rad hair. Peace brother.
