I love the interviewer. He's one of the few people I've seen to be legitimately happy to even be talking to the musician. You can tell he's a fan.
I always feel weird when I see interviews of dead people, miss you Jay RIP
Braindead_Fuzz no one is eternal. Eventually both of us in this comment section will be gone some day.
I've never seen this interview. It's kind of hard to watch. I wish I had a chance to know him on and off stage.
We are all gonna expire

10 years. RIP jay. Long live the garage/punk scene.
Jay forever
I love Jay Reatard. A truly brilliant, honest, fearless artist/musician. Quite ironically, due entirely to Jay's disparaging mention of them, I have now discovered and quite enjoy Crispy Ambulance. Weird how life (and death) works that way.
Andy Blue lol I looked them up to its weird they are loud and quiet at the same time i like them though
R.I.P. Jay. Your music will continue to inspire for a long time to come. Truly one of a kind.
Can confirm a decade later: still inspiring
so sad he's gone. he will forever be a legend.
he seems like a nice dude here. really easy to get along with but also really passionate about what he's into. i can relate a lot to the whole hating the music that's native to your area thing. growing up in south louisiana cajun music is shoved down your throat. there's some great stuff out there but, after hearing it for so long you kinda just start hating it.
This legend is a hero to me, the most chill and cool, also 100% honest musician ever.
He was my first cousins son ! Never knew him ! I'm a musician myself ! Wish I could've met him and talked to him ! Maybe I could've said something to him that would've helped him ! Maybe he would still be here ! He was a very talented young man ! His Momma has still not got over his death ! Probably never will !!
Tracy Henderson fuck off!
I DONT BELIEVE YOU ! WHY WOULD TAKE THE TIME TO SAY ALL OF THAT ! I DONT THINK HE REALLY IS YOUR FIRST COUSINS SON!!! !! ! ! !!!!!!!!! 👀🤔🕵️♂️ WHY ARE YOU SCREAMING VIA TH-cam COMMENT ?!?’!!???! ? ! ?? ARE YOU MY DAD !!!! ????? ¿¿ ?? WHERE AM I ???¿¿¿!!! !! ! !! !!! 😭😢🪦☠️

REST IN POWER JAY
Чёрт, когда слушаешь его музыку, смотришь его интервью-ты правда хочешь творить, заниматься тем чем хочешь. Спасибо
BIG STAR
Crispy Ambulance played post-punk. Alan Hempsall (Vocals) had to fill in on vocals for Ian Curtis/Joy Division on their gig at Derby Hall in April 1980. That gig is classic. 'Cause of the riot. Check out the biopic of Joy Division - Control.
I need to hear these songs he'd make daily
13 years gone. What a loss...
I could always tell he was trying to revolt against part of himself. It would shine through despite his best efforts though, at times. That was always what caught my attention.
i hate when people use sources to justify their musical taste. jay is a boss. I was born in memphis but grew up in northwest.. glad i found him and its a shame ill never see him live .
I thought he made up Crispy ambulance so I looked them up there is legitimately a band called crispy ambulance ....mind=blown
This is one of the best interviews that I've ever seen, where Jay is just kinda being himself. Good Job. A+ for authenticity . A lot of the times when Jay did stuff like this he was a little more out of character, but this nails it as his usual demeanor.
one song a day!! this guy was a musical genius. Gone too soon. He eat, music and VH1
Он невероятный.. Его музыка взрывает и воскрешает мой мозг... Покойся с миром, Джей Ритард.
Plastic junk never dies. We're left with this.
Great interview, great points, great memories
Rest in peace man.. fuckin cocaine.
obscure for a reason. love that
the background is a good representation of Memphis
The interview subject was a good representative of Memphis
it doesn't matter what I say, cus you're not here to never, ever see this. So I guess this goes out to everyone else who loved you. You made a mark- WE probably wont, so we will die with you, with everything you created
give yourself more credit.
@@dpclerks09 for sure
Rest easy brother
Ha, don't worry, dude. Jay said he was influenced by Wire, and so I don't think he was speaking specifically about those bands. Wire is awesome. I need to check out Crispy Ambulance.
Fucking miss him
Crispy ambulance really do suck WIRe rule thou
Great interview, the interviewer is really dorky in a cute way.
Good interview, but wire and crispy ambulance are sweet bands
i wanna hear that new crispy ambulance!!!
still gotta listen to this guy, but he's a cool cat (:
pink guy

Such a huge loss for music. Rip jay
i think it's a good point about how a lot of obscure bands are obscure for a reason. i mean obviously it's not always the case but you get these people who are continuously searching for what is more than often junk but because they're obscure it's mega cool. in the great scheme of music it's just a silly hobby i think.
😆 you are a clown
If only Jay could see how Memphis is in 2024
Damn demons. Rock on Jay.
I FUCKIN LOVE THE CRISPY AMULETS
RIP JAY
Yo, Wire is a godly band. Respect your elders. Still love your music though
Jay moved back to memphis
He never didn’t live there he was on tour.
@@sarafloyd4852 Jay moved to NYC for a while
I don't hate Elvis ... but I do prefer Buddy Holly.
Well I am not gonna speak bad of this guy Jay because he is dead but if wasn't for Elvis Presley and BB King an all the early Rock&Rollers he wouldn't have been able to do the this he liked.
How do you feel people are trying to grab your 7”
How many times does the interviewer need to slap his knee
0:37.... that has to be the most forced cringe," know i mean?" i have ever heard... i cant get rid of the cringe goosebumps...
He hates Elvis and the blues? I guess his made up last name says it all. LOL!
Way too much energy for this world.
Rip my guy.
