I've been seeing lowboys here and there all the time. No one has explained *how* they work. I figured the hydraulics have a purpose and that it "somehow" pushes/pulls the neck to/from the trailer lifting/lowering it, but this video actually explains something and now I finally figured it out.
    Thanks for the vid!
Ps, why in US lowboys are so common? Does it have something to do with weight stuff or what, since I have never seen one in Europe (not to say there isn't any), but we have just regular flatbeds/lowboys of our own that equipment gets driven on through integrated ramps which are similar to the rise of lowboys.
Asking since the ones we use don't need the tractor to move away at all, wouldn't it be faster?

if you wish to save two step here how you can do it ! the tractor have air bag if yes lower the airbag before lowering the trailer after you do the usual steps to disconnect it is a the move forward one foot part that changes so basically put the air back in the airbag . there you save one step ... to reconnect you lower your airbags one foot before the trailer and do like you do normally

I’ve never had to and seen anybody get in an out of the cab numerous times to disconnect or reconnect a lowboy trailer, and seeing that procedure on dropping the trailer, pulling forward a little then raising the neck before pulling further, I’ve never seen that before unless the frame of that tractor doesn’t have a skid to keep the neck from touching the ground.

4:19 You don’t need to worry about being straight/square when you back into the trailer. It is self-guiding and thus foolproof.

It's the military. The military has its own way of doing things.
Plus, you get grease on the uniform, it wont come out and you won't be able to wear it because leadership wont let you walk around looking like a hot mess. Not to mention the uniform stipend you get from the military while serving isn't enough to cover the cost of buying new ones. Go figure.

Between the seatbelt rule and glove rule and that cheesey international with the automatic it's a wonder anything gets done. The military really should look at private industry a little more and maybe incorporate some better techniques.

I am really surprised to see a "Wing-Nut" ( Air force Person) wearing gloves. When ever did they get their hands dirty? I mean they are paid to get high.
