Check out the show On the Edge - Pryor Mountains to see what happens when the ladies can't keep the guys in line regarding which roads we are traveling on. I went back and looked at my Onx Offroad, and sure enough, that's the day after I was up there. I made it a ways further on my Sportsman 1000XP but eventually got stopped by snow.

Always a treat getting to watch your adventures! An incredibly beautiful part of the Basin I've never seen, my thanks again to Elgin for the location tips. Just back from 10 days in southeast Oregon and northern Nevada - remote, beautiful high desert country. The Alvord Desert region was my favorite, but gas was a bear at $7/gal. lol

Hello, Ruth. Thank you for watching and commenting. I'm so glad you enjoyed the ride. Adventure is our middle name. Last weekend, we followed a two-track up a steep hill and could not see that one side of the road drove into a vast cave. Yikes! Lost one tire in it before Elgin stopped to see what was happening. THAT was an adventure that could have gone real bad. Whew! Check out our social media links for a video clip coming this weekend. - The Chatty One
We were coming out of Yellowstone last year and took the Beartooth pass instead. Was looking that direction wondering what was over that way. Spectacular. Next year we will probably investigate this! Thanks.
Our videos, "Clarks Fork to Ivy Lake" and "The Morrison Jeep Trail" (not the turn by turn one) also show the area you were looking at near the Beartooth Pass. They may be worth looking at. If your not the type to drive the switchbacks, you still can come in from the top on the Bearthooth Highway and see some outstanding scenery or just come in from Clark to see the canyon. I personally think the Morrison Jeep Trail video has almost unbeatable scenery. :-) Before too long, there is a video coming out that was recorded near Cooke City, MT that will be very close though!
We have a couple of videos filmed in the Cooke City, MT area, coming out this fall and winter. You may have a few more places you want to explore. We found some great scenery - the best I've ever seen (minus the fall colors in New Hampshire, of course).
@@AuthorMelissaCook Thank you! That country out there is so rugged and beautiful. We have been all over the Northwest and Sierras, Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Florida, New England, Ozarks, Canada north of the Great Lakes, Hawaii, Utah, Nevada. Our favorite are the Rocky Mountains hands down. Want to get into the Beartooth in the Montana side. Wilderness camping is the best. Been to Yellowstone twice but prefer the Teton National Wilderness area north of Dubois and south into the Wind River Range. We go up to the U.P. a lot because it the next best thing and close to us and good fishing. And now the areas in the basin near you and toward the Beartooth Range. Remote and rugged. Freedom. A campfire and the night stars is all we need!! Family has us bound here in the Midwest but sometimes we escape for a month or two!!

I just found your channel, you guys are fantastic. I love the Bighorns/Pryors and Beartooths, I spend a lot of time there but it is never enough.. My jeep isn't equipped for the extreme terrain that you guys travel on but now I can see which roads I shouldn't attempt through your videos. (since most of the time I am travelling by myself with no winch) Awesome job!!
Thank you! We are glad you found the channel and enjoy it. As for your jeep, I'm sure it would be fine for a lot of places however, it is really nice to have another with you so if you get in too far, they can bail you out. I assure you, when we are traveling with just one jeep, we don't push it nearly as far. :-) Thanks again!
Thanks for checking out our show! We will be releasing a video on the Pryor Mountains next. You might enjoy coming with us on July 8th. We will be exploring the Pryor Mountains during wildflower season. Thanks for leaving us a comment.
@@loristravels For the Pryor's, we will most likely head north out of Cowley, go up the western flank (road 23085 along Crooked Creek), go across the top (road 2849) and visit the ice cave, and come down the eastern flank by Layout Creek. It will be an all day trip. The next regular video we put out will on on the Pryors and will be the exact trip I am referring to. The video should be out in a week or so. The other trip will the the same trail as the Cooke City video we put out called "One Hail of a Day". Basically, head up to Goose Lake on road 3230.
Thank you for your kind comment about my book. I'm so glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for picking it up. Please consider rating it on Amazon for me. :-) We would love to put out more videos. We film as often as possible but coordinating a time when we are all available, no one is sick, the weather is reasonable, and the roads are open is often daunting. If I had my way, we'd record an episode every week. You can see clips of our short trips that are not made into episodes on our social media accounts, "Wyoming Jeepers," on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Yes, we take a lot of trips where we just enjoy the ride looking for new places to film, grabbing short clips for fans. I try to post daily on social media. We have a great video coming up and two more recorded, so there are more coming. We spend about 40-50 hours editing per video after they are recorded. :-)

@@AuthorMelissaCook It *is* a small world! We had no idea you were recording a show. To be honest I don't remember seeing you, but when I pointed it out to my friend in the green TJ about an hour ago, she did remember seeing you down there. I just stumbled on your channel about a month ago, and YES I'm a subscriber. :-)
Elgin, just curious does your drone not return home when the battery is low? Great videos and love your drone shots. Found your channel from Myron’s channel. I watch his channel because I love earth history and geology.
Great question... Yes, it is does come home by default when the battery is low. However, a lot of the droning I do is actually following a vehicle so "home" might be two miles back from where I am at the time that battery is low. So "home" is actually farther for the drone to go and it would be going away from me. So I use the app to see where the drone is in relation to me and bring it to me rather than home. In the case of the show you watched, the battery calibration was off and it actually landed with 15% still showing on the screen. So, it went down and I could only control the direction it went down. This was good enough to get it away from the river though! Glad you loved the video... There are about 20 more you can sift through on our channel if you feel like it and we have more coming out this winter. Thanks for watching and commenting. Subscribing will notify you of future videos. Thanks!
Welcome, JP. Wyoming Jeepers love to get out and see the geology of our local area too. You might enjoy our Carter Mountain show. Myron joined us for the ride and showed us where to find petrified wood. Then, we flew the drone out to see some of the beautiful scenery up there, and an eagle attacked it, taking it down! It's all on video. Thanks for joining us. We have two fan trips a year. Watch for announcements in the spring on TH-cam or follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram - Wyoming Jeepers to know when to head to our area for some fun. 🙂
G'day folks: Does the Country Band featured after you blokes found the drone make music on CD/DVD? Or maybe they have a Channel. All in all, a very interesting trip for me with some very nice people. Thank you ... Mac (OZ). Living in the Land of Smiles.
Thanks for watching and commenting! The music you are referring to is a song called, "Rotten Gardenias" by Huma-Huma. TH-cam has music available for content creators and that is where we got the song. If you do a search for the song or artist, you may find a CD, not sue though. It is a catchy tune!
Elgin found that tune that we branded as Wyoming Jeepers. You will hear it at the beginning and end of most of our videos. It's a great song. I agree. Thanks for finding us and watching. We appreciate your comment. If you don't mind my asking, where are you from, and how did you see our show?
Well we went ahead and did Sulfur Creek and Galena Pass. I regret to tell you that the road onto the gravel slump above the Wynoma mine has slid away. The road is now about three feet wide just as you start onto the slide. Also Galena Pass is slid away as it has been for some time. Lots of water has gone down Sulfur Creek. Thanks for your help.
Thanks for the update. Too bad they don't blade the rock slides. It would be really nice to get to the end of the Galena Pass road. We actually didn't make it to the end of either one. Those rock slides are just like moving glaciers. :-) Glad you were able to get up there though!
At 31 minutes into the video, we took our Tacoma to this same point (9/2024). My wife and I determined that it is impassable and figured out how to creatively turn around and head back down.
@@digemsmacks5690 That was nice of him to do that... I have been doing a lot of drone shots for him. BTW... We had him on our "Carter Mountain" video before he had a TH-cam Channel.

HAHA - I was born and raised in Michigan, but then I left at 18 and became a Wyomingite and then an Alaskan. Elaine is just tough, well, until it comes to a cliff or sliding rocks. Haha - Thanks for leaving us such a great comment!
We have the volume set to be the same as other videos on TH-cam. Sometimes you can't hear someone in our show because they are too far away or facing away from the camera when they are speaking. We raise the volume on these to the max, but it isn't always enough. We leave the clips like that when we think they are still worth the content. There are two spots in this video where you can't hear someone's speech well. Sorry about that. We do the best we can without professional equipment. Wind also throws a wrench in our audio at times. Thanks for watching and wanting to hear every word we say. 🙂
It has windows. The other animal shelters in the mountains haven't had windows. It may have served as an animal shelter after Max left it. Many old cabins are full of cow poop. Thanks for watching and commenting. We appreciate you taking the time to do that.

If the boys went on their own, they wouldn't know when to stop, and they might have a Jeep slide right off the edge. We took our four-wheelers up there the year before and discovered that the rocks roll, and the more you fight it, the more they roll. Dang! We were lucky not to lose a rig over the edge. Plus, if the boys went on their own, no one would get to see what they did because we ladies provide all the videos for our viewers. 🙂 Thanks for watching and commenting.
Tell that to Dan who stopped backing up when Elaine had a fit; his tire was on the edge of a cliff that he didn't realize he was so close to. See, a wife can be quite handy, even life-saving. 🙂

@@AuthorMelissaCook You folks are enjoying life. That's fun to watch. You were scaring us trying to drive that switchback!! We took it little Cherokee Latitude over the Ophir Pass near Telluride last year. I had to take a nap after getting back to camp!!
@@NoFeeArea You should watch our Morrison Jeep Trail show (not the turn by turn but the regular one). Dang swears Elaine slept on a really rough part at the top. She claims, “That’s no sleeping road!”

Hey, thanks, Michael! We appreciate you watching and commenting. It means a lot to us. Thanks!
Awsome footage guys, would love to visit some day 👍🇺🇸🇭🇲🇭🇲
Thanks... We do think it is a beautiful area! Glad you enjoyed the footage!
We feel fortunate to be in this area, well, until it is -33. Haha - Thanks for watching. Let us know if you pass through.
Love the drone shots. I've been to many of the places you show. Thanks for bringing back so many good memories. The narrative is interesting in so many ways.

I also followed Myron which led me here! I'm in Colorado and have gone jeeping. I'm with the ladies, I'm getting out and walking.

I appreciate you making the date of your journey clear. I plan on being in the same area next week (late September) and it's nice to know what to expect weather wise.
You are welcome. It is nice to know what you may expect. The colors were nice up there that time of year!

Always a treat getting to watch your adventures! An incredibly beautiful part of the Basin I've never seen, my thanks again to Elgin for the location tips. Just back from 10 days in southeast Oregon and northern Nevada - remote, beautiful high desert country. The Alvord Desert region was my favorite, but gas was a bear at $7/gal. lol
Glad you enjoyed the adventures! You are welcome for the location tips. I do believe there was enough information there for anyone to make the trip and see the same awesome sights. :-) Haven't been to the Alford Resort region but I'd love to go sometime. Just need those gas prices to go down to continue this running around bit huh! Thanks for watching. 🙂

Love the adventures and history. Thanks for the ride.
Glad you enjoyed the video. You are welcome!
@@AuthorMelissaCook wow the latest adventure sounds more tricky than this one! You all be safe and enjoy your summer adventures!
@@ruthmichigander It was quite a shock to have a tire fall into a cave in the middle of the road! Thanks for watching.
@@NoFeeArea We are going to spend a month in the UP next fall. I can’t wait. You might @ALinsdau TH-cam channel. Aaron does a lot of what you described on his TH-cam channel. He is a polar explorer and professional adventurer who endorsed my book last year.

@@AuthorMelissaCook That is an awesome time up there. Do you know which trails yet?
@@loristravels Elgin is planning that part. I’ll ask him.❤️
@@loristravels For the Pryor's, we will most likely head north out of Cowley, go up the western flank (road 23085 along Crooked Creek), go across the top (road 2849) and visit the ice cave, and come down the eastern flank by Layout Creek.
Love your book. Could you put out more videos?
Glad you love the book! We have a few videos recorded. We are just trying to find time to process them. It does take quite some time.

I'll bet Myron would have some interesting things to say about Sulfur Creek and Galena Pass.
I'll bet so. He hasn't been up there yet but wants to make the trip.

At 31 minutes into the video, we took our Tacoma to this same point (9/2024). My wife and I determined that it is impassable and figured out how to creatively turn around and head back down.
20:18 looks like some oyster mushrooms growing on the inside of that cabin. Kinda blurry so not sure but still interesting.

Please RAISE your volume - thanks in advance.

If the boys went on their own, they wouldn't know when to stop, and they might have a Jeep slide right off the edge.
