United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 3 ม.ค. 2021
Welcome to Wyoming Jeepers! Thank you for watching our channel. We live and play in our backyard of northwest Wyoming, the greater Yellowstone National Park area, and south central Montana. Siblings Elaine and Elgin and their spouses Dan and Melissa Jeep year-round. We film our Jeeping adventures to share what the backroads have to offer and give our viewers a laugh every now and then.
These videos are for entertainment only. We do not recommend the Jeeping locations we end up at or the techniques we use when getting out of tight situations.
Follow us on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook - Wyoming Jeepers. We put our short clips and information about our latest trips. We do not create shows from all of our Jeeping trips though we post short videos from most of them.

Wnet there many times during my 31 years fishing in the area. My 12 year old grandson and I climbed up to the mineshaft at the top of Crown Butte - blasted closed. Great photo looking waaaay down at the car. Road was a bit better then, took a Tahoe all the way in.
Sounds like you had some great experiences there... :-)
I recognized the Sunlight Creek Road; fished there several times. Last time, around 2010, fishing near the end of the road, we were about 100 yards apart, too far to communicate, and we had left the walkie talkies in the car. Don't recall seeing the Lee City sign, so I suppose we were not quite that far - especially in a rental car. Suddenly, we both got the feeling that we needed to leave, at exactly the same time. Never knew what or why, but we got the feeling simultaneously, and looked at each other; Lloyd motioned toward the car - vigorously, and started moving as fast as possible in chest waders, which for him was not very fast. We got out of there.
That's a pretty cool story! Glad you got out of there safely!
I've had that feeling before. It's like the hair on the back of your neck is warning you about a danger you can't pinpoint but you know is there.
You all need to make it to lander and try the christiana lake trail or the shoshone lake trail
That is a trail we really would love to do. I'm sure we will take it at some point as we have heard great things about it! Thanks for watching and commenting. 😄
That is on our Jeeping bucket list. It is a bit far to make it there and back in one day. Elgin and I have an elderly dog who doesn't travel well. There is a time in our future when we will be able to make it an overnight trip to see places like Christiana Lake Trail. Thank you for the suggestion.
At 31 minutes into the video, we took our Tacoma to this same point (9/2024). My wife and I determined that it is impassable and figured out how to creatively turn around and head back down.
Sorry for the late reply. I think you guys were wise to turn around there, especially if you were on your own. Hopefully you guys didn’t take the top road like we did. The bottom road was much easier. I hope you enjoyed that trip as much as we did. It is so beautiful back there. Thanks for commenting and watching! 😄
You were wise. So wise. Do you see the look on Elaine's face at 30:59? I'd turn around at 31, too! Haha. The road really stops there for vehicles. I believe you could end up at the bottom of the mountain on a slide with all those rocks if you tried to cross and then where would you turn around if you didn't take the ride down to the bottom by way of a shortcut?
Your brother sent me over. Love the channel
Thank you for giving us a shot. We used to put out a video per month but I (Melissa) went to work full time and Elgin and I wrote a book this spring (Wyoming Jeepers Trail Guide to match the show), so the episodes are fewer but still coming. We have several recorded to be released this winter. Thanks again for watching and joining us for the ride!
Sorry about the late reply. Somehow I overlooked this comment. I do see Melissa commented so that’s good. 😀 Glad you found our channel through my brother. We are thrilled that you enjoy the channel! Thanks for watching a commenting. 😄
Yes, please do, thank you for asking 🙏
Thank you for the great comment!
LOLOLOLOL! I love Myron’s channel. Just realized Elgin and Myron were brothers after watching Myron’s latest video earlier today which Elgin is briefly shown in and this one this evening where y’all flash Myron’s channel after Elgin defers to his expertise. I’ve been subbed to both channels for awhile without knowing 😂 Thanks for the entertainment 👍
You are welcome! Thanks for watching. Neat that you figured out we were brothers. We are happy that you enjoy the channels. :-)

That's amazing when you think about how many channels there are out there. Wow! I'm impressed. You must have great taste in TH-cam shows!!! Thanks for watching!
Dan and Elaine, it was great to meet you at the grocery store this morning. Keep on jeeping!
I'm sure it was their pleasure to meet you, too. We love to meet our fans!
Awesome video! Sorry we're just getting around to watching it. We lost my Dad on Thursday afternoon, so we have been busy with family stuff. Looking forward to seeing all of you again!
Sorry you lost your dad. It is a difficult time for you I'm sure. Glad you liked the video... It is neat that you did a video on the same thing. :-)

Great to see you back - just love watching your videos. We're in Wisconsin but visited Devils Kitchen a year ago last August on a damp cool morning. Thanks again for your wonderful drone footage & humor in the group & efforts editing these for us !
Thank you for your comment! Glad you were able to see Devil's Kitchen in person. It is a pretty neat place. Glad you like the channel! :-)
Thank you so much for your comment and realizing how much work goes into each and every video we put out. I love to record and edit them. Elgin polishes them off.
Dan is a cutie pie!
I bet you made him smile. 🙂
Nice to see you again!
Hey, thanks!
Thank you! Elgin and I spent the spring and most of the summer writing and publishing the Wyoming Jeepers Trail Guide. Since I work full-time, there is only so much I can do and I had to pick between putting out shows and finishing the book. Now that the book is done, it is back to the show! 🙂
I am not going to make it to Wyoming soon, but I bought a Trail Guide because you guys are awesome.
Thanks so much... We really appreciate it! Glad you enjoy the channel. :-)
That is SO kind of you! Thank you very much for all your support and for watching our show and leaving us such a great comment! You ROCK!!

another amazing adventure from a great group of Jeepers.
Thank you very much! We are glad you enjoyed it. :-)
Awe. Thank you so much. We had a great day out exploring, even if it was cold. Haha
Ya know why they call it the Devil's Kitchen? Because during the summer it's about nine million degrees back there. You could roast a dinosaur in 13 seconds! That trail on Sheep Mountain reminds me of some of trails on Tatman Mountain. Some of those side slopes are pretty sketchy because you know if you slide off sideways there's no stopping until you hit the bottom. That'd make a heck of a video wouldn't it? Melissa: "Play back the video..... Oh my gosh, he rolled 37 times on the way down! Do ya think he was counting?" Elaine: "Not past 3 he wasn't. Play it again in slow motion."
You are correct, that trail does have some side slope and a few washout areas on shelf roads as well to be on the lookout for. Hopefully, we never have to worry about making the video you are talking about!!! I think you have Melissa and Elaine pegged about right. 🙂
Haha - There are a lot of cliffs we drive on that would roll a vehicle 37 times. I try to avoid them at all costs. Although, after an experience last weekend, I strongly recommend looking twice and thinking about it before leaping from a Jeep on a steep hillside. Ouch! Thanks for watching!
@@melissacook Elgin says I have you and Elaine pegged... what say you? I don't avoid jumping from a rolling vehicle, I avoid rolling the vehicle so I don't have to consider jumping. Even though I'm a maniac, I'm not crazy... as far as I know. Besides, if you're going to go to all the trouble to roll a Jeep 37 times down the side of a mountain, why not enjoy the ride? 😉
@@CplSkiUSMC That another way to look at it. I can also look at it that my insurance is paid up! haha
Another awesome video!!! Is the granddaughter in this video the same one who can be heard at the end of each video saying "Subscribe to be notified of all new videos and click the bell and set to all.". ?
Thank you very much! No, that is not the same granddaughter... A first cousin to the granddaughter you are referring to. Both are Dan and Elaine's granddaughters. If we are every lucky enough to have the "Subscribe" granddaughter come with us, we will for sure point it out in the video. 🙂
They look a lot alike but no, not the same one. Thank you for watching the show and being so in tune with it to recognize who Elise might be. 🙂
Devil's Kitchen is a very cool place! I stopped by to see it last year after Summer Safari. But I didn't know you could drive down into it.
It is a very neat place, that is for sure... There are many wonderful places in the Bighorn Basin. We are so lucky!
It's an amazing place. We save it for winter visits because it's cooler and still open when the snow closes the mountains. You should check it out next time you come by.
what size tire are the Milestar Patagonia MT's that he's running?
37s
I was lucky enuf to work in Cooke City one summer. After every shift my co-workers and I would jump in my truck and explore every road in the area. Very fun and beautiful place to play
I can imagine how much fun you all had running around that area - truly lucky!
That is a great playground!
Im glad im not married
Tell that to Dan who stopped backing up when Elaine had a fit; his tire was on the edge of a cliff that he didn't realize he was so close to. See, a wife can be quite handy, even life-saving. 🙂
I'm trading the Raptor off and getting a Rubicon for this area.
Raptors are neat vehicles but the are limited in getting in and out of tight areas. The approach angles are great on jeeps! :-)
@@wyomingjeepers agreed.
When I hear of a Raptor, I think of the couple taking the Raptor down the Jeeping trail in our fan trip. Oh boy, that turned out exciting for them! LOL.
Have you done the route from Hyattsville up to Medicine Lodge Lakes it's a nice little Trail up through there
Yes. It was our very first video called Snowbound. We did it in December. We have another video of the same trip going in reverse and in the summer that will be coming out soon. We have this trail in our new trail guide book called the Paint Rock Loop.
Yes, we like to go up to the Paintrocks from Hyattville. Have you seen the petroglyphs over there? So cool.
Nice job Melissa! Any chance of a "premium plus" edition with spiral binding being released in the future?
Spiral wasn't an option with Amazon that we could see. I wonder if you could cut the binding off, hole punch it for spiral and do it that way. If you know of where we can upload it for a spiral option, we'd be happy to check it out. Thank you for your interest.
We did look into this. It can be done at another publishing company but the price was very high. We felt folks would not want to pay that much for a spiral bound copy. We will have to look into it more I guess! - Elgin
Headed to the Bighorns Wednesday! So excited to see some of the places ive seen here.
Where are you coming from?
@melissacook we are from Pierre SD, I came a couple years ago on dirtbikes with a buddy, now I am bringing my family camping at Park Resivor and Tie Flume Campground.

We hope you enjoy it!
When you go in on Hunt Mountain Road if you turn left on a little dirt track after the switchbacks that little road will take you up into copemans tomb it is really pretty you can look out over the cliffs looking towards Antelope Butte ski area
Thank you for the information... Our great grandfather had a cabin up in that area. He used to run sheep up there leaving his teenage boys on the mountain all summer to tend the sheep.
We are going to check that out, soon! We love new roads. Thank you for sharing!
@@melissacook I don't think you can reach The Cliffs with a vehicle but it's not too far of a walk but it is really pretty up in there we hunted elk up in there all the time I think there's a few roads that you can get around on

I hope they follow through and fix it. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts. We appreciate it.
You are welcome. We are thrilled you enjoyed the video. It was quite a trip! Thanks for the comment. :-)
So why the limit on the number of vehicles?
There are a number of reasons... Too many to discuss here but the biggest reason is that we want to get to know people. If we had 30 rigs, there is no way we would get to know everyone. For this reason, last year, we made two trips into four. We split up the groups to allow for smaller groups. We are planning on doing this to the Kirwin trip as well as we have a large number. Having said this, we now have an opening due to a cancelation. If you want to join the trip you can email us: wyomingjeepers@gmail.com.
We have made life-long friends with Jeepers we have met on these trips; however, if we had 30 Jeeps, that may not have happened. We may not be able to split this trip coming up and in that case, we will have a long line of Jeeps crossing over that shelf area where we will need to be strategic to allow others coming from the other directions to get through. We do have one or two cancelations if you wanted to go. We'd love to have you.
On another note, did I already ask if it is okay to quote a few of your comments on our shows? I noticed in proofreading we have at least two, maybe three, of your comments quoted in our new book. Is that okay with you?

It should be fun. Hopefully, it won't rain. That seems to be how it goes with our fan trips, though, so everyone should dress warm and bring a rain jacket. Thank you for your kind comment and for watching.
Our pleasure!
I’ve been in the Bighorn Cave. It’s about a 70’ drop from the top on a rope. The cave system itself is very expansive and basically on a horizontal plain once you’re down and extends for thousands of feet. It’s very hard climbing back out on ropes though so be prepared for having the correct equipment. We used rope ascenders.
I bet you enjoyed it. It is a big cave system... We have seen the maps.
Wow! I would not be able to climb back out and need to be rescued. Yikes! I'm not big on entering caves these days after the uranium incident. Thanks for watching and leaving us a comment.

I'm heading to WY the first half of June. Is that too early? Will the high mountain passes still be closed? What's the best way to get info on closures?
The first of June is fine in the mountains for the lower roads. The higher ones like the trips we took in Cooke City are the middle of June. Sunlight Basin is the middle of July. The Pryors (this video) is the middle of June. The best way to find out is go to the Forest Service and search for MVUM (Motor Vehicle Use Maps) for the area you are looking for. The GAIA Overland layer in GAIA GPS will tell you open dates as well. However, the best option is the Forrest Service MVUM. The book we are putting out shortly of all of our trails we put on TH-cam will have open dates as well.
@@wyomingjeepers Thank you!
June is typically safe for exploring but you never know. It is May 24 and the mountains just had more snow this week. Check the state road conditions for details on the main roads. Will you be in our area?
@@melissacook I'm not sure where all we will end up. We usually don't do much planning. Normally we just explore mountain backroads until we find an epic spot and then camp there and repeat the next day. Part of the excitement is not knowing where you're going to spend the night until your head hits the pillow.
@@explorationoverdrive9137 That sounds like the life. I have learned to plan a little in advance if I need a hotel room because we have had to drive half the night or more if we haven't but with a tent, that's not a problem - unless it rains. 🙂
