It was a long, LONG wait for those guys. We sat in the trucks for 4 hours or more and we watched for bear and the guys to return. What a trip! An expensive trip. We had that drone replaced in three days but it hurt.
@@melissacook Melissa,I’m sure that it hurt, but Elgin is a Master in using the Drone and its wonderful to see where you guys are going on your trips, but its also useful to check ahead to see if the road is clear. I’m watching a series on a guy who looks at the old Indian Dwellings in the cliffs (mostly in Utah) and he uses his drone to go up close for a look, these dwellings are on very steep cliffs and are pretty difficult to get to. So the Drone’s are especially useful for videos like yours. I’m glad you got a new one.
@@bigviper64 Thank you. Yes, I agree. Elgin is a master at that drone. Although... He has wrecked many times and it has been replaced not once (this trip) but twice. He didn't want to show the other times he flew into the ground, bushes or trees. LOL - The final straw for drone #2 was a car door. Poor guy. On a positive note, he hasn't wrecked #3 once.
Watched many of Myron's videos, as an old geology student - "priceless" ! I just ordered your book Melissa. Can't help but support you and the crew for the wonderful videos you let us enjoy. Used to live in Douglas WY... gas and snacks at Grassland Market, good food at Plains Trading Post/Restaurant. Keep up the good work !! You show off the Cowboy State quite well. (but just don't tell too many people how good it is - smile)

We have worried about showing off Wyoming too much because we don't want it to change. This is Elgin, Dan, and Elaine's childhood home. I'm a transplant. That darn eagle cost us $1,100! Ouch! We never know what kind of adventure we will find when we head out on a Jeep trip. It’s the trips we expect to be boring that have turned out to be the most exciting!

I’ve had a few late nights that weren’t planned in advance too! Thank you for sharing, and for showing your routes, I’m keeping notes for our next western trip. The surprise attack of the eagle is out of the ordinary, but finding adventure is not. We have almost 30 shows out as of February 2023, with plenty more to come. When I look around at my editing studio and all my video equipment I just laugh. Unless someone decides to sponsor me, it will always be a labor of love. But, I have always been involved in photography or videography of some form. I like the combination of creative and technical that they offer. Fun stuff!
@@OverlandPNW We have invested a small fortune in our equipment and tools as well. I totally understand. You have a great show. I would think if you monetize it, you would be able to cover your equipment. 💕 I’ve learned a fair amount watching your show. Thank you for your time, and yes, it is a labor of love and service to others creating TH-cam shows. Have you noticed them putting a bunch of your commercials on your shows? We are not monetized and have noticed a ton of ads on our shows.
I've not gone up on top from the basin side. I like to go up the South Fork side below the cliffs. Had a run-in with a young bull moose up there one time. Well the drone bought the farm but at least it left a great story with its demise. Lots of people lose drones but you might be the only folks to have lost one to an eagle attack.

We’ve had little birds come after the drone in the past but this was the first eagle and it was intent on destroying it. Dang! We were told they shouldn’t have had babies at that time. Thanks for watching and commenting.

It was good to have Myron on this trip. It was quite an adventure. I didn't like walking back in the dark at all in grizzly country!
