    I’ve started personally giving these businesses 1 star reviews. I’m over it. I’m not putting 100% into every single resume. I’ve listed ALL my skills and if you/they don’t like it then you’re not right for me either.

    • @jeannierobertson1210
      @jeannierobertson1210 6 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I do the same. I lost respect for companies in general now. No big thrill on interviews anymore everything they say are lies.

      @@jeannierobertson1210 Absolutely on that last part! Now that I leave one star reviews I have WAY more interaction. The latest one tried to cover up the ghosting with a ‘we’ve been so busy’ blah blah. I’m working on being a more agreeable person but my number one value is honesty and truth and I won’t stick around a culture of lies.

      I have 1 resume for everyone because everything a company needs to know is there. I completely agree with your statement

    I find most HR forgets that you are not hiring for a professional interviewer position. These interpersonal, branding, values, networking skills don't necessarily translate into the brightest and best for every position. Depending on the role, usually the opposite. In my experience the ones who nail the interview are the ones knocking off early for golf, causing drama at the water cooler and dropping emergencies on your desk at 4:45pm. Put your head down, work, and be reliable is not a sexy brand, but it what gets things done. I think it boils down to we like to hire people like ourselves or makes us feel good about ourselves. HR was hired because those skills are paramount to their role. It may translate well to other roles like marketing and sales. Not so much to IT and analytics. You wouldn't want a software engineer to work the front desk. So why try to shoe horn a front desk worker into a software engineering position?

      @hbt3575 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Agreed. Seems like some of those tips are for sake of creating TH-cam content.

      I've often wondered, often assumed this, but it's rarely talked about. Those who apply for jobs are good at welding, designing electronics circuits, uncovering financial bloopers, editing video, managing a grocery store, all kinds of things that don't overlap much with those "markety" skills, branding and networking and the rest like you said. Those skills come easy and natural to the sales and marketing, politics, executive and upper management types, maybe a few other professions, but that's a different world for us hands-on and brains-on types who like to design, make, test, and fix things. So many experts giving career and job-hunt advice forget they're creatures of that markety world and inhabitants of other worlds find it tricky to understand their advice.

    Recruiters are not created to help people find work, they are to help their clients and land a commission. According to HR Examiner, a recruiter has an 8.5% chance of calling you, a 3.3% chance of making it to the short list, and a 10% chance of being selected.

    I kinda disagree with point number 7. I'd say it depends... let's say if the role you applied for needed to be filled quickly, then you have to react fastly. If that is not the case, companies are happy to wait for the right candidate and not in hurry. Keep this up as this is the year for small TH-camrs! 💫😊

    Not going on LinkedIn to patronize strangers trying to befriend them and being fake just to network and land a job. Most people don’t want to be bothered and they rather help their immediate friends/people they know first anyway. I don’t recommend proactively reaching out to recruiters, lots of fake job postings, lots of scam Indian tech recruiters resume harvesting etc. Now is the time to update your skillsets, get certifications, go back to school etc..jobs will come back again, it’s a matter of time.

    Great video. Networking is hard and scary lol. Asking for help is even harder. I think for software engineer fresh graduates with just skills that everyone learns in the university are facing hard time to get jobs because employers are just looking for experienced workers. If they go into software engineer internship, they may not even be able to cover for their expenses. So , do you have any suggestions ? Like just switch job?

    • @careersuccessnow_
      @careersuccessnow_  22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thanks for the compliment!
      Agreed networking is a challenge for sure. Honestly I feel like if you're committed to your career in software engineering, everyone starts at the bottom and if someone needs to get a 2nd job just temporarily then so be it. Because when you do gain those skills and experience, you'll be making good money again! So just zooming out and committing for the long term it should pay off 🙏🏻
