A lot of you ask me what it is like to daily drive an EVO. Well here you go! In this video I put you in the driver's seat of a 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR. During the drive, I go over some of the features of the car and my impressions regarding the ability to daily drive this legendary vehicle.

I just rode in the new 2014 Evo the other day and the suspension felt so smooth compared to my s2000, i was shocked at how it was so comfortable yet it could still take corners with hardly anybody roll.
I felt just like this when i was younger, then i got tired of daily driving a manual. But i do still love driving a manual. Good honest vid man

I never daily drive my Evo X because if you live in a place where it's cold, it's twice as much effort because the car wants to fight you for every gear change if you try to drive it normally. So you have to resort to double clutching or just using 1st, 3rd and 5th.
On top of that, people stare at you for nearly popping their ear drums from the brake squeal when you try to come to a complete stop. There are quick fixes, but they don't last forever.
You really need a backup car as an Evo X owner, these cars are not reliable and are just bland if you drive out of boost.

I have 2011 Evo X. I don't daily drive it. I just drive it on the weekends and work on it on my time off. For me it's more for show and luxury. I actually daily drive a 1998 Toyota Rav4. It gets 32 Mpg which is great when you drive an hour to work and back everyday.
idk I love dailying my Evo. I drive the piss out of it on a bad tune and it hasn’t let me down once.
Hey 370z, I think theres an app for Android/iPhone where you can see how the camera looks on your phone which makes it easer to adjust. The app is called GoPro app

the dealer asking $26000 for a 2012 evolution gsr with 27k miles. dealer want me to put down 15k and pay monthly $260. dont you guys think it's too much for $260 a month? because i was doing the Auto Loan Calculator for a 2014 evo gsr with 6k miles. dealer asking $33,988. Interest Rate is 3.500% and 72 month for Loan Term.
come out 293 a month. its just a little more than the 2012, plus with low miles. and newer year.
i already get quote with my auton insurance for the 2012. they said it will be about 450 a month. but i havent get quote for the 2014 yet. im kind off afraid my auto insurance will increase more than 400 a month.

I just got my brand new 2014 Lancer evolution X, I love it! I use it as a daily driver, I got it Friday night. only has 230 miles on it already. Only bad thing is the gas but besides that I love it. I already ordered parts for my car. I am young tho, and so are all my friends and they all like fast/sports cars, i did get automatic cuz I can't drive standard. I like my car a lot so far. many more mods to come with it. My best friend has a subaru WRX regular standard transmission and he has it for a daily driver and he likes that car a lot to. and were a bit competitive, evo vs subaru. I got mine white.

Hows the fuel economy ? I think that's where most complaints would come from as a daily car.
Lagos3sgte 17 city 24-25 highway. Yeah it's sort of bad, when the v10 e60 m5 gets 14mpg.

You should tint you windshield at like 55% or 45% it really cuts down the light a lot and is still super easy to see out of.

Nicee video. The camera angle was good the way it was pointed down. I drive a manual Honda Civic and I feel like I'm getting annoyed with daily driving it lol. I love manual trans cars and like that interaction with the car, feels nice to be shifting gears yourself. But, it just gets annoying sometimes with the people that sit on your bumper on a hill. I feel like if I was driving a car I really enjoyed, like a sports car or even some slower cars that I like, I wouldn't mind daily driving it because it'll always be a fun ride stepping on it and stuff.
I had the H&R's(btw is the lowest spring your can buy) truth be told only the swift-R's will improve stock handling, the tein-s and h&r require a roll correction kit to correct geometry: both AMS And whiteline have the kits. its not something you notice daily driving. its kinda like get the H&R or tein-s and look good but take a handling hit, or use the swifts but your car still looks stock but has benefits. when i got my. fortune auto 500's was like night and day, you can order them to spec, from valve rate to spring rates( they ship with 8k/ op 4>28k) the H&R are rated at 3.5k to 4k.The CZ4A stock handling is really world class(.99 on the skip pad)it is a set of king springs from being able to run legit rally stages. IMHO springs are a short term investment, mostly never work out in the end. with the exception of the swift-r/MR-bilsteins which some people use to race on because its such a good combo. in the end you will end up with coils and you gotta do your homework.for the price fortune auto and feal motorsprots are pretty sick. other then them, your gonna spend 4-6k. i always like your vids casue we know all the same people its interesting on how our cars are so different.
Manual vs Automatic, both have its pros and cons. Auto would be used for frequent stops at traffic like congested areas and without the frequent use of clutch/shifting. Manual is good for daily drives but not at places with frequent stops

your but will hurt on any long drives.. the evo recaros are VERY comfortable. they support your back well and "hug" you in your seat. when you're driving hard. awesome piece of engineering. I own an Rx7 and have owned an STI hatch, and nothing compares to my evo.
I think its a great daily driver, i have swift spec r springs on mine,its not bad at all.
i am 42 and i daily my evo about 50 to 100 miles. I would quit if i couldn't drive my baby.
I was gonna get a GR Corolla but now i think im going to get a EVO X and im keeping it bone stock besides exhaust and intake.

Nice evo and good video, but the only think I dislike about the evo is that is has a deep front window, you cant see the hood of the car.That's just something I dislike about cars, it gives me like a weird feeling

JdmJdmVtec If you're young I would say quote the insurance first. TBH it may hit you around 400$ a month if you're on the teen age years.
Keilski ski $400 a month in the teenage years? In Toronto, try $300 a month as an adult and $1000+ as a teenager.. Or more.. Insurance is crazy expensive here.. Also, plan on spending upwards of $200 a month on gas. These cars DRINK

but gotta talk to my insurance first to see how much i will be paying for 2014. and im 22 y/o gonna turn into 23 next January 2015. it's just so hard to find a evo with low miles nowadays.

I can't speak for the '14 STI but I owned a '10 STI before I bought my evo and the car is in a different class. Buy an Evo

Hey how are you liking that 5% tint? It looks super dark in this video, but if visibility isn't to bad I might go 5% just because it gets so hot and bright where I live.

It AEM gauges the screens they use do this when you see them through a video. Why Idk

everything is clean from inside and out. it already got aftermarket exhaust and the AEM intake. it might have other mod too but i dont know yet.
JdmJdmVtec That is insanely cheap considering how much EVO X's are going for right now. Just be careful of the modifications done to the vehicle and make sure that it is in proper working condition.

Well I need to learn manual but don't have any manual cars laying around and im in socal like you so can you possibly refer me to any driving school if you know any? Also, since your car is a lease, are you going to be buying it out after the lease is over? Someone told me they oversell the evo for what it's worth so I just wanna make sure before I get mine. Plus what is your insurance like? Teenager driving an evo and having it be a lease on top of that must be somewhere in the range of 200-300 a month...
