You are doing a great job son. Keep the faith and all that labor will soon pay off with not only a fine boat, but a paid for home. There can't be many your age with a paid for home, much less a down payment on one. She'll make a damned fine coastal cruiser with a bit more effort. Regards, Rick
I'm a woodworker and love boats. You pay so much attention to detail and don't let anything pass by half done. I've watched the entire series since coming across it a few weeks ago. I can't help but think how unlikely anyone your age, here in the US, would even try to do what you're doing, much less with so much attention to detail or with your work ethic. Very nice work. Looking forward to many more episodes.
Love to see tenacity in young people! do me a favor kidda! when painting or varnishing do your joints and edges first and as with your benched start form the back and work forwards, saves replacing your t-shirts lol.... GREAT JOB YOUR DOING..
You may have seen old tools made by a carpenter. Which still works. Then tell yourself. "I belong to that fraternity." The carpenter's work is of high value. There will always be.
@0:35 - "after Hoovering"? Now there's a term I haven't heard in quite a few years! LOL! I wonder if today's youth even know what that means anymore. I'll echo others on here ... even with the errors you've made, you've learned from them and made teachable lessons for others through your explanations. Throughout the nineteen videos I've seen thus far, you and your family have done a remarkable job of bringing the old boat back to life. Well done! Looking forward to seeing the continued progress in your follow-on videos.
I’m sure all the hard work will soon be over, and you will be left with a beautiful boat that will give you a lifetime of pleasure. Your tenacity is remarkable and your reward will be richly deserved. Best wishes.
Excellent, gee your Uncles good, and your doin a good job yourself. Keep up the good work m8! Really pleased the furry supervisor turned up to check your work 😀
It’s been a long time since I saw someone use a pump screwdriver. I knew a guy years ago who was a maintenance foreman at a private school and he always used his trusty pump screwdriver, he said he wouldn’t be without it. Love watching this series.
Your are a wonder - an inspiration to all of those who would attempt such a fiat. I just stumbled on your channel and will now be trying to catch up with the present. p.r.morehouse - author
Fixing such an old wooden boat is not an easy task but you are doing a great job. There is so much to do. Do you have a roadmap ? I guess after the boat structure you will have to cope with the mechanics and all the electric/electronic wirings and systems.
Your doing good young man and seems like you were raised up the right way, your family must be proud of you and what your doing, I see that you have respect and skills in an admirable trade that young people today don’t really know or care about, keep it up, your on the right path and will succeed in all that you do if you keep focused and finish whatever you start, well done and thanks for sharing all that you do…
G'day and greetings from Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺 terrific to see the very exacting work to restore this beautiful old boat it reminds me when I did mine. It's painstakingly slow but highly worth in the end, I have just subscribed and look forward to watching you restore her back to a very nice boat. Take care regards John Kinnane
You're clearly working hard (day and night) to get ready for winter. I hope you get the hull completed in time, could be a bit drafty otherwise. Thanks for sharing.
I have been following this project for a long time, it is inspiring me to hopefully get to work on a similar project. You're great at what you do, keep it up. :)
Another great vIdeo, I really look forward to watching them. I,m thinking of getting a narrowboat as a live aboard, just for a few years, I get motivation from people like you. Great stuff.
Its a good idea whenever painting ,varnishing spreading adhesive etc to do the parts furthest away from you first and work outwards, towards yourself. That way you have a clean surface to lean on without running the risk of putting your hand onto anything wet. Just a tip. Great to see things progressing. Keep it up.
Further to that always start at the top and work down, that way if you drip varnish or paint you can brush it out when you reach it! Doing a great job, Keep it up!!
I've never been to Ireland my descendants are from there, you most likely know that already by my name. We moved to Nfld to escape the potato famine in the mid 1800's. Nfld is a lot like Ireland all it does is rain most of the time, especially if you live on the coast. I live on the mainland now about an hours drive from Toronto. I miss the ocean and miss being out in boat. Once the boats are in your blood its hard to not have a passion for them.
When you slid the chimney “over” the stove connection it would appear there is potential for leaks at this point. Carbon monoxide is a by product of combustion and is a silent and invisible killer especially in a closed space like a boat. Please take extra care in this area.
I just subscribed young fella. I really appreciate the amount of work you're doing to get this old boat back to life. It's a credit to you. I've built and repaired boats and I can see where I would do things a little differently but you're doing a great job. And as they used to say, all roads lead to Rome.
i must have missed the part where you faired all those curved cuts. In the video, a lot of those pieces have flat spots and variable curves, and the those sides were used to reference other cuts/rabbits/dados. thanks.
Thanks David. The boat stays in the water throughout the Winters and has been for the last 26 years believe it or not. My parents coated the entire hull below the water line in epoxy resin and mat 26 yrs ago. I owe it to my parents that the boat is still afloat today. We will take her out in the near future but for now I will continue to do the work from the water while making it liveaboard. Thanks for watching!
It’s looking good, though please can you take better care of your tools, make sure they are clean and sharp before using them you will find they work better that way and a little bit of oil wouldn’t hurt since you are working on the water 😊🏴😻🦖🦤👍
Say Hi to your Uncle , love his shed , and didnt see one tube of Sikaflex shit any where ,, just saying ,,,, And a bit of info ,, all those dowels you put in there is not as strong as ONE 6mm stainless screw ,,
This will be awesome I like watching finding Simon but to me that cat is the wrong type of boat. You have chosen a boat made of components it can be fixed forever and the material grows on trees. I have come to the conclusion that we have been building boats the wrong way for thousands of years they should be diagonal planked. What when I build mine.
I gotta hand it to ya though, a lot of people would have relegated that boat to Firewood, especially with that amount of work to bring her back to life, so Cheers to you for NOT doing that...
I've never seen someone start painting a bench seat at the front, then drop shit on the wet paint and lean on it !!! Is it an old Irish method ?!?.. Certainly not common sense !

Superb job!
Wow what a cool freaking job just the work alone amazing

Maybe in the future you can build a floating boat house to keep this old girl docked in & out of the elements.
Love what you are doing. The water gods are watching over you.💓
I love watching I can’t wait to get home see if there’s a new video. Fine craftsmanship
Interesting project keep at it
Your Cruiser Boat is fantastic!👍 Can't wait till next episode😏

I am pleased to see that you are wearing a mask while sanding. I have emphysema due to sanding drywall without a mask.

Thanks for following along and leaving a comment. It'll motivate me to keep going. Another episode should be up before too long.
How great that your Uncle is a shipwright, now I know where you get your skills. Keep up the great work!
1 đại gia đình hạnh phúc - chúc mừng Lộc, quá viên mãn rồi !

Inch by inch and day by day your getting there, keep up the great work as I can’t wait to see the boat moving on it’s own steam...stew
Thanks Stew! That's it I'm getting there day by day
always fun watching the project, keep it up!

That's one lumpy piece of wood you got there!
You deserve to have a beautiful home at the end of this. Great job!
Great story telling; a journey involving Dad and Uncle. Your video work is improving. Next up: film school?
Fantastic video so glad your up to this stage your doing a brilliant job. Sending. Love from Australia xx
you're going to be doing alot of sanding so you should invest in a sander. keep up the great work.
I have a trusty Makita belt sander which I normally use for more labor intensive sanding. Thanks for watching!
I have been following this project for a long time, it is inspiring me to hopefully get to work on a similar project. You're great at what you do, keep it up. :)
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Where do you sleep? It is going to be very satisfying to see that hole repaired
Looks good if you can rabbit the ply wood joints together ,it makes for a nice tight joint that water wont get in.
Great job mate, keep up the good work and keep doing it "Your way" another cheers from OZ.

Good progress, and attention to detail. I’m really enjoying your hard work and dedication
Your videos are interesting to watch. It looks like you got for yourself a lot of hard work. Keep em comming!
Nice work young man, after you done working on the boat, are you still going to do videos really hope you do

Nice cat :)
Keep up the good work! Can I ask your music playlist for this episode, especially the first track after the intro it was brilliant!
Good onya mate, love the courageous outlook. Keep it up
i must have missed the part where you faired all those curved cuts. In the video, a lot of those pieces have flat spots and variable curves, and the those sides were used to reference other cuts/rabbits/dados. thanks.
Do you have drawings of the planned layout for the inside of the boat you can share or talk us through?🇨🇦
I restored a 30 foot Halmatic on the grand union canal along with my ex wife my God it was hard work.
Do the engines run?
I would insulate the walls also plywood inside
Yes I will be doing this soon enough
How long do you expect the canvas to last on the decks you walk on?
ill be interested to see how well u keep the water out in the winter. that wood stove should be nice. u just need to keep the draft out First.
What brand are those blackish utility pants you wear and where can I get a pair? Thanks! Really enjoy watching your progress!
What do you consider a hard winter over there? Around here it's over 6 foot of snow and -30 deg c temps
Another great episode and good to see you making progress. When and where are you slipping the boat? Surely after winter now?
Thanks David. The boat stays in the water throughout the Winters and has been for the last 26 years believe it or not. another well enjoyed 20 mins? How are the vege gardens going?
It’s looking good, though please can you take better care of your tools, make sure they are clean and sharp before using them you will find they work better that way and a little bit of oil wouldn’t hurt since you are working on the water 😊🏴😻🦖🦤👍
Wood stain only works on bare wood. If you are going over existing sanded finishes you should use a varnish stain.
Hello, I’m curious why you use the material and glue to seal exterior roofs why not just fibreglass and resin? Is it traditional?
Love the channel 👍
When do you plan on moving in?
👍!!!
Invest in ear protection mate :)
For a whole year, you couldn't even visually restore your small yacht ? Is your channel worthy of likes ?
👍
😎👍💪
Yankee Screwdriver!
Does uncle Pete not have a TH-cam channel?
Not yet.. It's in the works

Get your boat out of the water and to Uncle Peter's shop.
Отвёртку лучше привязывать к руке)
I still only think about what work was done with the hull below the water level ??? "LADDERS" don't bother me at all !!!
I've never seen someone start painting a bench seat at the front, then drop shit on the wet paint and lean on it !!! Is it an old Irish method ?!?.. Certainly not common sense !
Why to people pronounce rabbet , rebaiit ? Rabbet plane, not rebait plane . Do they also call rabbits rebaits ?
Too dark...........
