Very useful video. Installs a lot differently then a DEE ZEE.

@@TrucciSpeed What is that storage garage you have ? Is it a metal car port that you can order fully enclosed ? I'm looking for something narrow to put on the side of my house like the way yours is set up.

@user-zk4qx4wu5r I purchased it from Carport Central out of North Carolina. They were great to work with and very quick with getting it together.

I just installed the tailgate assist yesterday - Definitely you DO NOT need to remove the harness and the tail gate. Gently lift from the left side, put a towel between the bumper and tailgate and a plastic garbage can for support. There is plenty of play to gently move the tailgate away from the bracket to access the T50 bolts - Total time from start to finish was about fifteen minutes.

FYI use the “TP50 TORX PLUS BIT SOCKET” it’s different that just a T-50. It will help in taking out those factory bolts.

No mention here or on any other factory shock install video - my 2019 had plenty of red lock tote and was a bastard to unscrew the torx bolts. Had to use a big breaker bar. Maybe not used in all factory options, mine was Dearborn. FYI to other who watch this. “Tight” was an understatement in my case.

Wow, everything went smooth and simple for you! My attempt was an epic fail! 🤦🏻‍♂️ The Torx bolts were impossible to remove on my F150 and we wound up stripping the head off the bottom bolt. Unsure how to fix now. Had to put the top bolt back in and give up. I hate it when a simple project fails, truck is in worse shape than before I started and still no dampener 🤬. I have used non-OEM dampeners previously and they were a breeze. Went with OEM this time because I wanted to keep everything stock, Ford parts only, etc. Truck is brand new with less than 500 miles on it and I have already damaged it 😢 …

Wow that sucks, you can try grinding the head off and then try getting it out with a pair of channel locks. Yea I guess I was lucky because they were tight but not too bad.

Or if you know someone with a welder they can tack weld a nut on it to back it out

@@TrucciSpeed going to try and cut the head of it but it’s doubtful I can get the remaining remnants of the old bolt out of the bracket. going to try and order a new bracket and 2 new bolts. wish me luck!! 🙏🏻👍🏻

@@TrucciSpeed well, was able to heat up the bottom bolt with a torch and get it out … new bracket and bolts used to install the new OEM dampener … finally! works great … now just have to touch up the paint on the tailgate that was damaged on the first attempt 🤦🏻‍♂️

Awesome install ! A must have in my opinion.
In the bright side You got away without having to install the hood struts.
Lucky you don’t live here where you would be melting outside doing that install lol it’s been insane down here it’s that time of the year in which you will get a heat stoke outside anytime after 7AM -7PM if the heat don’t tear you up between those times the bug and humidity will after hours lol
