  • Installed a Hobbywing Max 8 into the Maxx and what an improvement. Even tried running on 5s on the stock 2400kv motor.

Thank you Jason, for saying what a lot of people have experienced. Changing the ESC makes such a huge difference to these trucks, and other Traxxas vehicles (i don't rate their ESCs or servos - at all). If you don't know, you won't know.

Nice Video. I put a Hobbywing Max8 G2 Combo in my Maxx. And I love it. Drives so nice. All the best from Germany.

Thank you for the info , when my stock esc goes , I will look at getting one off these . Spent to much on the truck already to justify this . Keep up the good work , more info is always better.

A surplus of power is exactly how I want my trucks to feel, not "just about enough" or an "ok amount". It should feel like what I'm asking it to to it can do in it's stride without braking a sweat, not like it's at the limit of it's power.

I agree that changing out stock esc's to better/higher amp esc's on some rtr trucks, can improve the driving experience. I took a stock 1/10 Maverick Quantum Flux XT truck, that came with a 3660/3300kv & a 45a esc, for a cheap truck the performance was not half bad at all. It would do around 45mph out the box on asphalt, with ok punch & would wheelie but not crazily. I simply dropped a cheapo Banggood 120a esc into the truck, what a surprise in performance. The excelleration/punch was night & day better & made the experience much better, turning this cheapo 1/10 truck into a little beast now with just the $25 120a esc upgrade.

Love the Traxxas blue! The mini max is a great basher. Unless your going to put street tires on it good luck controlling it on anything over 4s. Even the xmaxx on speed runs is near impossible haha great vid and good choice on the max8.

    appreciate your videos
I have the original maxx and I installed my 2200 kv out of my e revo and added a max 8 with 25/46 gears. And I’m liking it
Hope to see your vid if you decide to install a 2200 kv

You can same results with keeping it in 4s but increasing the pinion gear and shrinking the spur gear

  • @GreatLakesRC
    @GreatLakesRC 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Nice run on 5s Jason! Your right the Max8 can't recognize 5s so it thinks it's 6s and lipo cut off is faster. You could set your cut off to low to squeeze a little more run time out of it. People should do whatever they feel is best about their ESC it's a hobby after all lol! I prefer to stay stock since my son drives it alot, but more power is always more fun 😃

I've always wondered if I could go up to 7.4V on the steering servo. I'm running the 2085X. Will it take it? I'm with you on the MAX8 esc/2250kv motor it runs great. I think we sometimes get caught up with the more power the better. But I prefer to have the ability to put the power to the ground and not just spin tires (though sending diet flying is always fun), and be and be able to control the car. Keep up the great reviews and tips.

What size screws did you use to hold in the Max8? I know they are M3, but what length? I would much rather use those stock holes and screw directly into the Max8, then make a plate and going that route.

You have to disable lvc when running 5s. The esc cannot tell the difference between 4 and 6. It thinks it's a 6s the hits lvc prematurely. I just carry a lipo checker and check after 15 min or so. Plus you can definitely feel power loss when a lipo is around 3.6v per cell.

Yep, people should try the max8 before they say something, most pro basher already upgraded to max8 or 6s esc, the controling and handling really are night and day.

Hello, I hesitate a lot between a traxxas max and a kraton/outcast exb 1/8 You must have some perspective on these machines, do the kraton differentials hold up? the maxx seems more resistant

    • @JasonPerrinRCVlogs

    Ignore the Fanbabys
Stock ESC is good, but other ESC like the Max Versions or the Mamba Monster X (XLX or XLX2) are much better.
I have a Max 5 Combo in my X MAXX and the difference between the Stock Combo and the Hobbywing Combo is like Day & Night.
I have learned to ignore the Fanboys for a long Time.
I like the RC Hobby, i have fun to mod my RCs.
