Great run Jason! Max is still the only truck that I have that is 8 year old proof 😂 I agree with you 5 or 6S is too much power for the truck. It’s so controllable on 4s and you can use all the power. But I know some people are looking for that wild and crazy factor 👍

Some of your commentary was hilarious man lol I'm also a fan of 5S i run 5s in series though which is even harder tricking my different ESCs into doing it without instant LVC.

Hey Jason I hear you on the stock TRAXXAS 4s esc in the maxx it’s almost like it’s glitchy in the sense it’s not very smooth across the powerband yet the max8 esc is very smooth in him indeed 😎 nice of you to share Jason🥃

Good luck making it drive straight. I could never get it to drive straight. I hear ya about adding more then 4S . I tried 6S on it once. 4S was just right.
    Have Fun.

Cool run and jump, I'm debating if should get a Maxx v2 roller and putting my stock parts out of my v1 widemaxx to put into in it or buying a new ready to run and selling my v1 as it is.

I seen people setup speed runs with this new hobbywing sensored combo and just with adjustments to turbo mode and timing gains of 40+ mph. I believe with the right settings adjustments to ESC u won’t need 5s u would achieve probably just or more power

Hi Jason. Did you figure out your steering problem? I feel as if my maxx V1 may have that issue too. I run it on grass most of the time. At times I can line it up for the jumps then other times I have to make corrections. My stock esc has the 3 red lights flashing so I changed it out with what was available it my local hobby shop a mamba monster 2 with the 2200kv. I'm also using the gpm racing springs front and rear. Thats far as it goes for the steering (stock) and suspension tuning.

The new Max8 Gen.2 has a 5s setting. If you then gear it down a bit, it would be much more controllable and extend battery life by a lot. Great and informative video. Thanks for sharing!

Not a big fan of the max 8 v2 ever since mine went up in smoke. I had thought of putting that combo in the max. But since the v2 isn't very durable, I am going to be using it in a truck that I don't jump.

@@JasonPerrinRCVlogs Oh yeah, I remember now. I saw that video. It's totally understandable that you lost trust in that combo :-/ Btw, your Maxx is a beast!

Jason, how do u compare a Maxx V2 vs Hoss with GTR shocks/Extreme Heavy Duty Kit…..handling and durability.
    Thanks!!

I had an rc10 back in the '90s early '90s late '80s and I loved it was great got to upgraded racing motor for it but then one day I came across a black foot for $100 maybe less two wheel drive 1/10 scale monster truck and I took my futaba radio and electronics and my racing motor and I replaced The 540 motor that I believe came with that with this racing motor and that truck was the most fun to run in the world. I had more fun with that truck than I did with my buggy at any given time. I spent an entire summer cutting down dead trees in the woods behind my house and clearing a path and digging ramps in the thick clay and I ran that car until I finally broke the frame. Now some 35 years later and I want nothing more but to have a truck just like that one or maybe one of these Traxxas that everybody seems to like. I don't want to spend much if I could spend $150 to get a setup with a battery charger radio electronics in the truck used I would be the happiest man alive to be able to share that joy that I had running that truck and jumping that truck with my kids before they're too old to enjoy it

Change up the tires to the Method 3.8’s completely different truck and it handles 6s all day. They are a smidge taller, a smidge wider, belted, light, and not nearly as wide as the proline 3.8 trenchers or badlands.

It wont steer straight because the front tires are ballooning

Yep, max8 with stock motor running 4s is the right spot, even when I turn the pouch to the highest pouch (max8 with oem motor on 4s), you can hardly keep the noise down after 2/3 throttle. To me max8 on pouch 4 with stock motor on 4s is the right spot.😊

I second this comment. Running my v1 on this combo. There is no lacking for power and no heat issues.

I got my v1 Maxx on 6s but I'm running a mamba monster x and a 1730 kv 4274 sensored motor and does awesome 2200 kv on 6s is to much tho

Are you using one 3s and one 2s together? I've tried that and got glitches & stuttering! Lol

    Great videos!!
Why didn't you just change the esc and keep the motor? Is the traxxas motor that bad?
I switched my esc with the same esc you have but the whole system gets extremely hot with 6300 4s smc lipo.
I wonder if its the stock motor? I've only driving twice with the new esc and stock gearing.???
    Thanks

Keep the system just running it on 4s stock system is terrible

So a Hobbywing esc reading 5s lipos, what witchcraft is that? Did you disabled the LVC? Cause ONLY Castle esc and HH marine ESC's read 5s LVC fine like it should ... I Run 5s for about 12years ago on 1/8 know what i AM talking about. Is Faster then 4s but not diff click as 6s destroying them :)

Steering could be servo saver screw has come loose. I've secured mine with a 20mm m3, washer and bolt . The servo itself is weak too. Very poor quality for such and expensive RC
