I've been in the pool business about 10 years now and I've installed more than 1000 liners. The way you did this job is okay but too complicated. These liners usually come in three grades, from 20mm to 30mm thick so they're pretty tough. The fastest and easiest and best way is to pour boiling hot water directly on that area. They can take it. The vinyl will get very pliable for about 15 to 20 seconds. In that time frame, you should be able to grab the edge with your fingers and place it back in the track. It's that easy. A job like this should take about a minute or less.

R R ... I have a question.. I just had a new inground pool put in last year in august. The liner is not flush against the wall in the corners and one corner fell put of the track 2 times last season so the guy who installed my pool put in a liner lock... is that normal?

But how do you keep it from happening all the time?I was thinking of some white plastic shims to pop in the seam...between the liner and the pool rim?

I like the hair dryer method. Warm the liner for about 20-25 seconds, using your thumbs and index fingers, grab the top bead, angle it downward, pull up about one half inch on the liner and tuck it back into the bead. Done in about 30 seconds total. As long as the liner isn't more than about eight years old, you should have no problem stretching it up. That liner appears to be less than five years old.

It works great until you drop the hair dryer in the pool

Boil some water and pour it in the area off track to get it back on track... Use your fingers only!! It worked!! Thank you for the original idea!

Lol. Bro use hot water or a hairdryer. Water is clearly not hot enough if you're sticking your hand in it. Also sometimes it helps to take a small portion out. Pull on it while someone heats it and make sure track is clean.

Gee get in the pool...poor the hot water...pop it in...done. I did it today on a much larger problem...I used nickels and pennies as shims to hold it in.

I like your spatula. Looks like a nice force tool. I have a liner that's out in several sections, and I don't know if this has been tried, but I'm thinking about using a hot water/steam power washer for a source of hot water. Shouldn't be a risk of melting a hole, as with a heat gun. Thinking about removing the nozzle so it comes out at a lower pressure, but very hot. We'll see.

I use an old Mr Coffee Coffee maker to get instant hot water works every time takes about 10 to 15 minutes to do but if liner is measured and set properly shouldn't be coming out of the track

After all that time playing with that liner, you can see that the liner didn't drop into the track yet and it still wasn't seated properly. Give it a month or so and it will be popped out again. My be is that there is some dirt in the bottom of the track and it won't allow the liner to drop in all the way. If the track was clean, I would do that job in 15 seconds or less with no hot water.

Great video. Thanks for showing that it took some time to complete the job and not splice it up to make it look like it should snap back in easy. I'm now a subscriber!

44 YEARS EXPERIENCE. You can use a screwdriver to feed it in the track, don't actually poke the liner. Depending on where you live, it has to be warm enough to to it by hand or screwdriver. You can use a hairdryer it's the easiest. Heats up the liner and let's it stretch. DO NOT use a blowtorch it has been done.

We have a 18 round pool and 4 feet deep. We can not put chlorine in the pool . 2 in my family
are death allergy to it. My wife and daughter . My daughter was sad she could not swim at school or join the swim team.. We use baquacil its a bit more in cost but it works . We also have a nice stream 1/2 mile down the lane across the street from us . It has over 20 feet deep sections . We have lived here 25 years and know every great spot in the creak.

Hairdryer can cause an hole in the liner and hot water can make the job harder for one who are not experiment. Best easy way to do it ? Construction black garbage bag , that will heat faster the liner and more equaly so the liner design will keep his shape

Would a SWG salt water generator and a salt water pool work for the allergy? That is too bad that she has such a bad allergy. DW6

ALMOST close to BOILING water. It works wonders PERIOD!! Pour the water that was heated from the stove to just about boiling on the liner and the liner softens up so it is strechable and you will get it right back in the track. i have done it several times. It works wonders

Helpful video but I have a more serious problem :( I need answers. My in-ground vinyl pool has a tear. Is there anything I can use to patch it? I don't wan to replace it I just want to find something to hold it together so the water won't leak.

too complicated as well. Pour boiling water or just about boiling water on the vinyl. It softens it up perfectly and you can put right back in the track. It happened one year after a storm and I had my liner pop out. It took all about 1 min to put it back in.
