    I have been riding scooters for years, and I've recently started riding EUC's as well. I think I'll continue to ride both, as they each have their advantages. Scooters are great for very short distances, and that's usually what I'll grab if I'm just going down the street to the grocery store since I can also put the grocery bags on the handlebars. If I'm going longer distances then hands-down the EUC wins. It is so much more comfortable to ride long distances on an EUC. Usually after about 10 miles my hands are numb on a scooter, and I'm aching to get off. With an EUC I'm feeling just fine after even 20 miles. EUC's also generally have much larger batteries and are generally capable of much longer distances than a scooter. The larger wheel of an EUC is much more stable to ride on, and you have less worry of things knocking you off your ride. EUC's are also 10x more fun to ride than a scooter IMO. EUC's are also tons better for off-road than even purpose built scooters.
    EUC's are not without their downsides though. They are generally much heavier than a scooter, so hauling them up / down stairs is less fun. You will crash a LOT on an EUC, especially when you are first learning and for a couple of months afterwards. Death wobbles are much more common on EUC's than on scooters, though they can happen on both. You need to learn how to handle these before you encounter them! EUC's tend to be more expensive than scooters nowadays.
    Maintenance wise I consider them about equal. EUC's are generally much harder to maintain in the sense that if you want to do a simple tire change it usually means dismantling the entire EUC and rebuilding it from scratch, but there's less that can go wrong on an EUC since they don't have physical brakes, so you won't have to maintain them as often.

    Nice vid. I'd slightly modify your suggestion that only with an EUC are you 'at one' with the wheel. Once you are proficient on a bike, scooter or even a car, you get to a point where you are at one with it, where your whole body (weight, positioning, tension) can be used to change the handling.
    The difference with an EUC is that you have no choice but to achieve some form of 'at one' relationship with the wheel before you can really use it! Which is why I think EUCs are inherently safer; they don't lull you into a false sense of security - quite the opposite!

    • @MADpack
      @MADpack  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I get you and also in a euc when you just swap from one to another that sensation change but you can't control a bike just with your body you need to use per example breaks to break.. So that's the point that I'm saying that eucs are an extension of your body

    Great points. I’ve had my first euc (V8f) for a bit under a month now and I never want to be without an electric unicycle again. I will need a faster one at some point but already it replaces using my car for more than half of my short trips. I use a backpack for anything I need to carry. The ability to go from pavement to dirt road to grass is amazing. I feel more control than if I were on a bicycle.

Why quadlock because they offer complete solutions for phone mounting which means you can swap between scooter handlebars or forearms. Then run your phone in dual screen mode and lock the rotation, one screen for EUC world or darkbot and the other for Googlemaps or as your please. I mean i could just saying in general also unicycle just seems more sketchy when I ride in london it rains on roads, on my scooter with two wheels I can feel the edge of traction, going through puddles and such (because im not as low to the ground as I am on a unicycle) also the roads in london are all the time speed bumps covered in oil, but on a EUC I dont know how confidence inspiring that would be

    • @MADpack
      @MADpack  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @FrameGame1 ok in other words you are used to scooters but you don’t ride eucs… I can tell you I ride both and euc are much safer bigger tires pass over holes easier and smoother put a good tire like the one I’m putting on my v11y (Michelin city extra) put in in rear configuration so gives you even more grip and forget you are much safer because also the wheel is align with your body so even if it loses grip you have more control

    • @FrameGame1

      @@MADpack I do think they are super cool and efficient I wish I could own one in the future right now however in london i feel like a scooter is just more versatile and responsive, come to think of it how many times i had to stop or slow down for drivers doing erratic things, if I had to respond with a whole body motion it could make a big difference, also wouldnt emergency braking be worse on UNI as increased thinking/response time on uni + one wheel for traction so worse braking as there is more load on one tire?

      I tend to agree. I own an EUC and OneWheel, of the two the OneWheel for me was much easier to get on and ride successfully. For some reason the EUC was difficult for me to get comfortable trusting. However, after putting several hundred miles on both, to me, the EUC is much safer and easier to ride. Never ridden a PEV scooter but grew up playing with non powered skooters. They are very easy to ride but the scooter offers a false sense of security because of the tire diameter.

    The only reason i use my electric scooter is if i need to carry big or bulky boxes w/c is not easy to carry when on euc... If we're talking about best commuter, hands down i'll choice euc in any given day & weather specially if its like the spec of v12 the small version of v11 w/o the suspension.

    I’ve had all 3…. The electric bike is the winner…. Scooter you can hit curb w small tires and face smash over handlebars… unicycle is a lil less sketchy but requires a young athletic body. Wrecks are more manageable. Still hurt… the bicycle is best because top speed is easy to obtain. Wrecking is a lot harder. Doesn’t work your ankles and legs, back etc… you can sit… feel lazy? Pedal… also draws zero attention but can haul major ass… downfall: price

    Been following euc progression over the last 3 years. And I still don't have confidence that they can pull off a safe wheel. I know the v13 leaks look promising but so did every other iteration from most companys before it.
    I dont know why, but there are so many vids/clips of euc wrecking/exploding and I know people like to show it, but as someone yet to get into the hobby it doesnt inspire faith.
    I find myself in a situation now not needing a car 100% of the time and am looking between a begode master or a nami burn-e 2 maxx. Currently I'm leaning towards the nami only due to potential injury as I'm now 35, and thinking it's probably best not to take the risk. I'm well aware just as much damage can be done on a scooter of that caliber, but I think with normal day to day riding the risk to me seems less. Perhaps I'm wrong, but it feels like a safer choice.
    I love the idea of the euc, especially coming from a onewheel pint ( that I have never crashed, but come close a few times). But the few concerns over braking, battery safety, no redundancy if anything occurs makes me nervous.

    • @MADpack
      @MADpack  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there thank you so much for your very long comment. I get your concerns but majority of the bad things you seen online is user fault to be honest. I own 9 electric unicycles and I have more than 20.000km on my legs. Swap my car for a EUC in 2019 since than I commute everyday (sometimes between two cities) and I will never swap my EUC for any PEV. I get you and all your concerns but I also saw scooters in fire or even breaking the front fork riding. So everything can happen really whatever is your choice. Big hugs and good rides whatever is your choice

    Sorry man but the scooters we can rent around here go 20kph. I can sprint faster than that. I feel perfectly safe not wearing gear. This coming from a guy who also rides motorcycles and wears full gear even on “short rides” jic. There is such a thing as the illusion of safe, when you already are safe. Like a 99.8% survival rate … but let’s weld ppl in their homes, you know for safety!

    • @MADpack
      @MADpack  ปีที่แล้ว

      You forget that you can be hit by a car? Or you forgot the others on the road? Sorry just because you ride motorcycles maybe at 200kph does make you safe riding a scooter at 20kph… it can be slow for you but you can be hit by a car going at 50kph and if you hit at opposite directions so 20kph against 50kph the impact if hits your head will be enough to kill you. So your comment is completely unresponsive and none sense in my honest opinion

In France, e-scooters free floating lobby has imposed bloody rules for its own interest, not EUC 's one, this is why we are limited at a tremendous speed of.... 25 km/h, and moreless restricted inside cities.
