Blessings to you!! I've had my r6 for a few months now shooting on single area focus because when I would play around in the af settings I never loved the results. Applied everything you suggested and fell in love with my camera all over again. Thank you!
Thank you for your CLEAN video! Less is more:) Sooooo what if you want to faces /plants/subject to be detected?? I went from a D810 and it was so simple and easy to focus on a group and each face /eye was clearly detected. I could get the whole from in focus if I wanted…what am I missing??? TIA
amazing thx,,, i was never happy with my af going everywhere but not on the dot i wanted... now i know Initial servo AF was on auto and i changed as u mentioned to initial af pt...
thanks! When enabled, the continuous AF keeps focusing even though you are not doing anything. I turn it off because its annoying and wastes battery life. I only need it to focus when I want it to focus, not constantly all the time when I'm doing nothing (but have the camera on)
Wonderful video - very helpful! QUESTION: At 3:40 I have set this setting like you but unlike your mine doesn't stay focused on the specific subject I half pressed on - rather on the part of the screen (i.e. upper left corner) that this subject was in when I half-pressed. I know mine used to work like yours (where its tracks the subject) and now I must have changed something since it doesn't. I am in Manual, AF method: AF tracking - People - enable eye detection. What is wrong is my settings?
Hi great video thank you. I have a question, are there any other settings that would interfere with the focus guide in manual and stop it from working? I have followed the steps you mentioned and it isn't showing on my screen. Thanks
@@DesmondCheng I am using the 24-105 kit lens not an L series. Maybe that is the problem. I am waiting for the adaptor ring. Thank you for your response.
I wish they do a firmware update that allows us to select a bigger area that works with eye af instead of the small spot. I noticed on ny R6 that if I lift my finger of the shutter and the subject moves out of the the af point the camera will back focus or wont know where to focus. Having a wider af area would be a great addition.
Great, helpful video. Someone coming from 5dmkiii just having a touch screen blew my mind haha I do have a question if I may. Is there a way to change the speed at which focus happens? Meaning if im changing from a foreground subject to a background subject instead of it "snapping" into focus is there a way to change the speed to gradually pull focus? Believe its called rack focus. The speed it does it
Hi I am looking for the setting to set on focus red dot. Once you take a picture and it showed you where the focus was pointed too. can you help. I been looking and can't find it
I wish the AF setting for Eye Detection would say "Enabled" or "Disabled." Sometimes when it says Enable, it sometimes doesn't work, along when it says Disable. It leaves me wondering if it's actually Enabled or not...
Interesting… When I was having issues with the focal point constantly defaulting to the bottom left of the screen canon advised me to turn touch and drag off in case my face was causing the AF point to move and intentionally
I do struggle with strap's .. you might come up with a great idea.. i use Peak design .. having one next to the screen seems a bit dangerous when flipping the screen out.. for example lifting the camera high up .... using (a or the) plate is not very practical when working with mono-/tripod (and i do not trust that solution very much... all depending on one screw, that stupid me will maybe not tighten enough ). I tried two ancors on the right sid top of the cam.... it gets a bit clumsy and harder to free moving of the shuttterfinger and reaching for controls abd buttons with the right hand etc.. to mount a strap and dismount back and forth for different shooting situations is maybe best ?
I tried the eye focus setting on my R6. I was taking a photograph of a stage of people sitting in chairs with a guest speaker at the podium in the middle of the stage. I attempted to focus on the face of the speaker at the podium and the camera kept focusing on the eye of a person sitting in a chair along side the speaker. Uhhhggg.
oh no! sorry to hear about that.. If you change your AF settings to what I have it at 3:30 in this video, you should be able to manually choose who u focus on!
At 3:38 in the video, I'll change my settings this mode with the moveable focus point! So if there are multiple people I'll just manually choose the person with my focus spot and then reframe if necessary
I noticed your ibis symbol does not have the "+" sign. Do u know why? Mine is the same. --- I just did a firmware update on the lens and camera and the + shows up now with IBIS
Hi there! In your settings tab (the yellow color), menu 3, there should be a screen/viewfinder display option. If you have it on Auto1, then the EVF will not turn on if your LCD is out If you have it on Auto2, then the EVF will turn on even if your LCD is out Try that!
That’s a great one yes. Have been using that option on the RP. An important setting for wedding photography as otherwise the camera might focus in the wrong face in an important moment
I have the eos r5 and when changing the initial servo af pt for face to where I can pick the point, once I go to the live view I can't move the box around and select a point to focus on by using the joystick, how do I fix this?
hey sorry for the late reply! i had this issue at first as well. You need to goto the ORANGE menu, third tab, under CUSTOMIZE BUTTONS. Then you need to scroll down on the photo side until you get to the Joystick which is the last option and make sure you select "Diret AF Point Selection"
so i dont think there is a one button thing to configure between human/eye, however u can create a customized menu with that option in it though! So it might be more like 3 clicks of a button to get to it
Who knows how to choose what eye is camera focusing on? As I just bought my R6 for me looks like camera is choosing by itself and I don’t have control over what eye focus box is on! Any information would be helpful!
