Go to the video at the 6:00 mark. My fuel gauge was stuck on full for the longest time. Bike would die for no reason at a stoplight and wouldn't start right away. BCM diag code was b2116 for fuel pump open. Tore down the fuel pump per your vid and manually tested both level sending unit with an ohm meter and fuel pump. No issues with either. At 6:00 min in your vid you show that plug. Mine had a build up of corrosion on the female connector. Wiped it off with vinegar and blew it off with compressed air. Put everything back together without replacing anything. Everything works perfect now. All diag codes are clear.
At about 8:59 in the video you talk about removing the main fuel line. When I tried to release the main fuel line it popped off on the other end. I tried feeling around to see where it was connected but could not find anything. Any help on what is was connected to would help. Thanks John
Great Video! I replaced my Fuel pump, regulator and filter following your instructions. My Ultra Limited w 50k is running great now. Thank you!! Dealer wanted $1,000 to do it for me AND would have had to wait 2 weeks
Very good video in explaining and showing procedures. I replaced the fuel filter for my 2009 Street Glide a few years ago, the filter itself was very different.
I just did this job to my bike yesterday. 2017 FLHTK. The video was helpful in walking a person thru the various aspects of the job. One thing though, the little metal ground clip on the pressure regulator has a release tab on the inside that needs to be depressed before removing. This tidbit is overlooked on the video. The QFS kit I got in the mail had 2 rather big issues for me. They sent the wrong tank gasket and their supplied fuel filter is not correct. The gasket they sent was for a Sportster, not even close! Their filter, the center holes on either end is over sized by approx .06mm. this allows for a loose fit on the nipples, allowing unfiltered fuel to enter the system. The filter is a press fit on the nipples, this is the only thing sealing the filter to the nipples. I had to make a emergency trip to 2 different Harley dealers to get the factory parts to finish the job. Lastly, the return hose supplied in the kit is a little short, it could be 3/8" longer. The pump itself seems to be a quality product.
Just used this video for the second time. Fuel pump failure at 25k this time. This job would be overwhelming I only had the manual. Instead, it’s 2 hours since UPS rang the bell and it’s a done deal. That included a 30 minute water break. One more time LAB for the win.

At 8:30 in the video, you refer to the "main fuel line" . Where does it go. On mine, ith was just an open elbow line with no connection to anything on distal end as far as I could see. I replaced my pump, regulator and filter. At key on, I have 60 lbs pressure, but pressure drops to nothing and bike dies. I've been in it 3 times, trying to figure out what I'm missing. Top of fuel pump feeds filter regulator feeds pressure line leaving tank via check valve at bottom of tank. Is that right? Could sure you some help. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the video. I finally figured out my problem. The filter and regulator is spraying fuel out of the housing. I’m replacing the whole system. The bike has sat for a long time
I noticed using a steel punch to remove the retaining ring. This can produce sparks when tapping off the ring. When removing a fuel pump retainer, a brass punch should be used. It will not produce potentially hazardous sparks.
Anyone have experience on how these QFS fuel pumps hold up? Installation quirks and vendor support? Would it be a good idea to use these or bite the bullet and get this from Harley?
My bike was the one that the sound of a failing pump was used for, not the bike they replaced with. I did one the month after Fuente’s was done. Mine failed at 20k. Was throwing codes and stalling this time. I checked on the bike in the video. It’s still going strong. It would be 2 weeks to get the HD part and I want to get back on the road. Ordered an All Balls pump this time because it was the only one I found in stock. Replaced and running strong again.
Hi Ryan, do you need to use clamps on the hoses, when replacing fuel pump, reg. Fuel filter? You just pushed hoses on after heating them. Or do you not need to use clamps. Like Corbin self tightening clamps?
Just curious as my 2019 RGS is doing the exact thing. Brought it to 2 different HD dealerships. Both said nothing was wrong with fuel pump. Did replacing it resolve the issue??
I might of changed just the fuel filter, I think a dirty filter could cause a change in the sound charging the pump seems unnecessary if it works .It always makes some noise when you first turn it on
I've got a leaky fuel check valve I'm going to replace on my 2015 FLHTP it has the same plug in fuel line...is the fuel line the tube on the right when you pull the top off? There's no need to pull the entire fuel pump out is there? Please let me know I would appreciate it
There is no reason to pull the pump if you're just replacing the line. Once you have the top plate off use a hand and determine which line is going to the check valve. Trace it back to the fuel pump connection and squeeze the tabs to remove it.
@@MrADollar99 Got it...Ezee Peezy once I figured out which line...that fuel tool o ring rebuild crap is a waste of time when you can buy a NEW valve for only $40

Saw another video showing a bike with the same problem that was attributed to a clogged filter because the guy used E85 in his bike. This diagnosis never showed any inspection of the filter so how did you determine it was the fuel pump and NOT a clogged filter? Or was this video solely for the purpose of changing the pump?
2014 ultra classic, same problem. After installing a new fuel filter and fuel disconnect hose assembly I put it back together. I put the kill switch down and press the start button and I get nothing, will not start. What did I do wrong? Battery at 13v, plugged all connectors and installed 50 amp main fuse. Added 1 gallon of fuel. Please help.

Excellent tutorial.
That being said, this is just one of several reasons I am going to convert my EFI bike over to a Carburetor.

Excellent tutorial. I used it today to replace my fuel pump as one of the in-tank lines broke. I appreciate you posting this. THANK YOU!

Will this fuel pump work on a 2017 Street Glide Special?
15:06 in the process got me stuck for sure. Very little room to get all everything stuffed back in. Noticed you skipped a little time there too.
What is the specialty tool to remove the big ring? Where do I get it?
So do you have to have the fuel pump to run the bike or can you use carb spray through the intake just to hear it run for a second?
Ryan thank you for your content. Very informative.
My pleasure!
Just bought my first Harley! 01 Electra glide ultra classic with 37k miles! Silver and purple colored lol. But hey! I love it
I don't see the third hose in the kit to have all three replaced?
I am working on a 2000 roadking. Finding parts for the fuel pump is a job.
Question: Why not swap out the fuel filter as well?
Can I change the main fuel line without removing the fuel pump or other parts?
What does the small black line do?
I might of changed just the fuel filter, I think a dirty filter could cause a change in the sound charging the pump seems unnecessary if it works .It always makes some noise when you first turn it on

It's the fuel line on the right side. Locking ring is white or yellowish color locking on the fuel line connector.
Where can i get the lines only
Good stuff guys. Will be a good reference if I ever have this issue Thanks 👍.
