Im 21 (not a parent and dont plan to be) and as a child I played N64 and Super Nintendo as they were the only two consoles I owned for a long time. There are tons of places you can get royalty-free models, textures, and even animations. So I'd imagine that a lot of these games (especially the Spider Rope Hero kind) use these pre-made assets and just re-texture them.
