This.... hits it on the nose. I really have been disappointed with how Tai focused the show has been, and honestly wonder if they have narrowed down the focus this much why not just make the show about Tai, Matt, and their siblings?

The Crest of Courage may be a sun, but it just so happens to have 8 smaller arrows as part of the symbol so maybe Tai himself is something of a compass for the cast? Like a metaphorical North Star for them?
Interesting you say North Star for tai, I did some research and Kari’s is actually representing the Planet Venus , 8 pointed star ancient symbol for Venus, while Tai is Polaris the North Star, the only star that stays stationary because it’s at the North Pole, hence tais compass spinning around, meaning he was already at the center of where he had to be.
I think the compasses are pointing towards the DIM cards, and Tai's is going around in circles because His is in his pocket from the Gerbemon episode. It's no coincidence that Gerbemon was the friend from this episode too.
Maybe it was because Tai's location was where they were at the slabs. Compasses tend to do that when you're exactly at the poles or when something powerful disrupting.
I think Taichi's arrow is trying to point towards his own digivice. But the compass is in a 2d plane, so it's stuck spinning around. Cause it can't point downwards. He has already unlocked Blitzgreymon, and so the data is already in his Digivice. Yamato, Takeru, and Hikari are probably going to unlock Cresgarurumon, Seraphimon, and Ophanimon, in the coming episodes.
They already explained that Metalgreymon adapted to the large electrical energy when he was trying to Digivolve to WarGreymon which caused him to go Blitzgreymon instead

this type of episode makes me wish this was the sort of vibe the adventure had 30-40 episodes ago, with this as their base of operations and garbemon as their friend there communicating every now and then when they make a big discovery/breakthrough
I just assumed the part with Taichi's "compass" was in relation to how Tai has TWO Megas and perhaps has something to do with how his Digivice was crackling with red electricity after BlitzGreymon.
I think the show is trying to set up Blitzgreymon and Cresgarurumon as the new default megas of Agumon and Gabumon. Both of them are more natural evolutions of Metalgreymon and Weregarurumon, respectively.
@@truegamer_007 I can understand this, like how Ophanimon is more of a natural evolution of Angewomon but Holydramon is more of a natural evolution of Tailmon. Respectively, Goddramon feels like the natural Mega of Patamon but Seraphimon feels more appropriate for HolyAngemon. Still would be cool to see alternates for the others like how Plesiomon feels like a better Mega for Gomamon.
@@linchtrades It is, cause Wargreymon is wearing armour and has lost his metal arms. He is less of a cyborg that Metalgreymon. While Blitzgreymon is a completely mechanised robot. If we're going on colour, the original Metalgreymon was purple from the digimon virtual pet, like the Virus version we eventually got to see in Adventure 02. The 1999 anime was the debut of the Vaccine Metalgreymon we know today. You can see they kept the purple for his head inside the metal covering. If you look at both Wargreymon and MetalGarurumon, they feel closer to alternate perfect evolutions of Greymon and Garurumon. And both of them debuted in the 1999 series.

I think it’s cool how they are going to the hot springs because there was a game called digimon championship. It was like raising your digimon, whenever your digimon got tired or hurt you would put them in the hot springs. I thought that was a nice call back.
Watching the episode, I was assuming that Matt, Tk, and Kari’s compasses aren’t spinning because they’re going to unlock their alternate Megas and since Tai already has BlitzGreymon and WarGreymon
One thing about BlitzGreymon: Can Tai even still summon him? Patamon was happily Digivolving into Pegasmon or Angemon freely for awhile there. But so fat BliltzGremon has only turned up once.

As for Joe it seems like they are setting up the other kids to only reach the Megas that were part of the Holy War flashbacks (but again I could be wrong)
No matter how good the next could be, it still won't justify the complete lackluster writing for the blank slate of a character Sora has been in this reboot. This episode is good nonetheless though it saddens me we seemingly won't get a real world arc involving the parents.
I hate to say it but I agree on Sora. And it's such a tragic thing, especially given her backstory from the OG show, we got context to who she was, especially with the fact that she lived with her single mother (her dad appears briefly in Adventure 02) as well as how she's an avid soccer player and tomboy. Now although she is sort of like this and her debut episode with her taking care of Biyomon was great, this reboot has fallen short of trying to give her more depth. It's a shame because I always liked her character before. What we currently have is someone that's very surface-level. Had the writers spent a bit more time developing her character I would actually be very satisfied with what is to come (that being her finally getting Biyomon's mega Phoenixmon) which would've solidified Sora as a whole and her bond with Biyomon. But we'll just have to see how it all plays out.
At the end we didn't learn anything specific about the crests, a little slow the episode. I hope they will explain the meaning behind the crests. A funny callback the hot springs and also quite interesting of why Tailmon and Patamon couldn't evolve. I'm thinking we could get alternate digivolutions for the holy Digimon, Nefertimon is coming;
I'm pretty sure the holy digimons being weak after evolving into the Holy Dragons is the justification they'll use for both of them using Pegasusmon and Nefertimon for a while.
It was a great episode. I am so glad we finally got some much needed backstory on the crests. We have been sorely needing some context for them for ages and I do kind of wish we had gotten to see this earlier with some new context provided from this episode. But I digress, it was still some good backstory. So yes, the Great Catastrophe is obviously to do with the "one-eye alien" creature we've seen back in Episode 18. It makes another cameo here in this episode so I sincerely hope we finally get to find out what this entity is actually called. As far as I know, this is the final boss of the Digivice 2020 toy. It just doesn't have an official name yet. And I get why people thought Millenniummon was going to be the big bad, but if you pay attention, this other creature has been making a few cameos throughout the show so it stood to reason that Millenniummon was not the end boss. Burpmon is the literal digimon equivalent to Kirby and I love it. It's another brand new digimon introduced for the show. Basically we finally are going to get the mega episodes we have been so damn desperate for. As long as they have great defining moments, really fucking good evolution animations (and by god for Biyomon especially), I will be happy.
The crests seem to be more part of them, like how it was explained in Adventure 1999 and 02, just in this instance, there is no feeling or emotion associated with them or the kids but rather with their actions and stronger moments like how T.K's is usually hope or Matt's has to do with friendship as how he interacts with people and digimon alike around him
What if the crests select children who correspond to them throughout time (and maybe space if we are going with this being an alternate timeline to the original seasons) whenever the digital world is in danger. It could also loosely link with the Tri movies (and maybe different seasons) and the existence of multiple Chosen Children at some point. Just like the origin of the 02 kids ties into them witnessing the internet battle of the 01 kids in the 1999 series movie I feel like the foundation of multiple sets of digidestined are being laid. In Digimon Frontier even though we followed a specific group there were many children called to the digital world outside of the core cast so maybe this episode is a prelude to how the children in general are selected.
I remember a long time ago in the episodes when the incident with the power outages in tokyo that some kids started seeing the battle between Omegamon and Orochimon for whatever reason. If we're applying that the crest have beeing showing up to our chosen children then does that mean it has been showing up for other kids as well and our main eight were just the more powerful versions that got to get picked. Depending on the selection process, it's begging the question if those kids will have to play a role in the real final boss battle that is to come too if our main eight is not enough; especially when you take into account that it took the entire digital world to take down Millineumon with one Gaia Force. Side note: Some of what I said is in hopes for some kind of Adventure 02 reboot simply because of how they're implying the selection process when it comes to the chosen children.
I like what you’re saying, and I’ll expand on that cause it ties in really well with something they say the original and 02. So the original 8 digidestined watched the Greymon vs Parrotmon fight in the prequel to the show, and then all the new kids in 02 (including the ones who aren’t part of the main team) saw one of the many Digimon battles from the original cast and later became digidestined, so what if all those kids who saw the Omegamon vs Nidhoggmon fight are gonna become digidestined and fight alongside our chosen ones group? It would give all seven of the holy digimon a partner to fight with and could replace the legion of Pidmons from the original war.
First of, mimi parted with taichi and sora just a few moments after they have left the tree. So we have 5 groups, joe-tk-kari, tai-sora, izzy, mimi, and matt. I presume one of the reason why tai's digivice just spins around instead of pointing somewhere else, it could be one of this 3 possibilities : 1. Tai has unlocked all of possible evolutions that agumon can have, (we know gabumon still has cresgarurumon yet to unfold) 2. The Tai digivice direction is nowhere on the earth location (such as beneath the ground or above the sky [in the space or what-so-ever, since the courage has similar shape with the sun]), or the tree itself is the location for Tai. 3. The direction for Tai will only appear once all of the the other crest's quests has been resolved. 4. The object that is directed by the digivice is of nowhere to find or it is everywhere.

@@irhamma1944 I think the crests are woven into the fabric of the digital world, and they can detect where the chosen kids need to go in order to unlock the true potential of the Digimons. That's the in-universe answer of course. The out of universe answer is that the spinning arrows are easy Macguffins to get the kids where they need to be in order to unlock megas.

At the first season, the shadow beasts need to be upgraded in terms of skills, so each one of them is then directed to a location (ruins or valley) where there is a training mechanism such that each of them will become stronger. Is it kind of similar in your opinion or not? If so, rather than only having an ultimate/mega version of each rookie digimon, I wish that there will be special evolution or form for each of them, that distinguish them from common mega digimons.
@@irhamma1944 I think it will be more of how we saw during everyone getting their perfect forms, there's gonna be a situation and they'll evolve to mega to resolve the situation. I think next episode we might see a volcanic eruption? And HouHoumom will be the one to stop it.
I feel the crest are the key to reaching Mega, with the 2 examples we have WarGreymon appeared when Tai and MetalGreymon at the time wouldn't surrender or give up but the reason why was to protect the woodmon digimon who didn't want to fight and in a sense were weak. It take courage to stand up after being knocked down but it takes more to do so protecting others. With MetalGarurumon it was in line with saving a friend from the darkness within, loneliness can drive a person to think horrible thoughts, Machmon was alone for so long he wanted to die, a friend sticks by you thru the good and bad even help you out of the fog of dispare

You guys remember that dark sphere thing that was in the network where Algomon and Eyesmon came from? I'm starting to realize Devimon at the time was only using the MoonMilleniumon crystal he had to draw energy from the chaos caused by those Digimon that came from that Dark Sphere in the network. If those events are being mentioned again and that objects from the human world is still falling into the Digital World, it means that Dark Sphere in the network has resurfaced or is moving to its' final directive or some sort. Either way we are seeing more of it again. What we can expect from the remaining episodes before the finale episodes and that is everyone finding the answers to their crests in which they will achieve greater heights while also uncovering any info regarding the Great Catastrophe.
So what one saying is Moon Milleniumon was distraction for what ever this dark sphere was to get the kids out of the way and Burpmon was another distraction to get rid of data on the Great Catastrophe since those odd digimon drop it in that location.
@@MaxHinaNaru Well you see those bats again after a long time and they sent Burpmon to eat any and all data in the tree meaning someone is trying to silence anyone from uncovering the means to stopping it from happening. Those bat digimon up till now was believed to be minions sent by Devimon but now we know that was wrong and we don't see them much during Milleniumon's resurrection campaign. Actually think about it for a second, Milleniumon was supposedly defeated but how has it awoken after so long unless there was a trigger for it and that being the chaos caused by the Digimon that came from that Dark Sphere thing? The intent of the Great Catastrophe is to create massive digital surge through major events and eventually destroy the Digital World using that data surge created by the human world and with the Digital World gone, everything that is connected to some digital network in the living world will cease.

The original was notorious for its fake outs about the final villains. They beat devimon, nope you have more enemies to fight. They beat VenomVamdemon, nope, dark masters exist. They beat dark masters, Apocalymon exists 🙃

After 50 episodes of tai mostly grabbing the spotlight, they finally putting him on a bench, and I hope he will stay that way until the rest of em catching up. Because I'm this close to rolling my eyes out if they don't give other digidestined equal or almost as much of screentime and role

Maybe the compasses are not pointing towards an actual location but an object (maybe the pendants?) that can be moved. Maybe Tai's just not on the digital world but on the human world instead which would lead to the human world section for the final battle.
The big stones look like the physical objects that the crests from the original Digimon were, as they were originally meant to slide on to the tags. They were little slides that had that same shape.
i like the idea of Tai kind of being put on hold with his crest and going to play a support role. while he is the "leader", a lot of focus has been on him and with a main cast this big, it is hard to balance importance and screentime. I do wonder why his compass is acting crazy. the theory that the others have to figure it out first and unlock the secrets before he gets his (kind of reminds me of the voltron reboot where all the other liopns had to be present before the black one was unlocked) does sound promising. the only thing different with Tai that none of the other kids had experienced that i could think of was the corruption and dark-digivolution back in episode 24 against NeoDevimon. it could just be my wishful thinking that the events of that episode would have lasting consequences. since we didn't get skullgraymon and the involvement and knowledge of the crests in this reboot have been different, i have wondered if this would be different? either way, super hyped about learning more of the lore and crests and I cant wait to see what happens next!

hikari, takeru and yamato still have a ultimates evolution left while taichi achieved both the normal and the blitz ultimate. SO it could be that while everyones crest will lead them to their "true" ultimate taichi compass doesnt register since he already found its true ultimate and so it is in fact pointing towards himself...or they are boring and taichi is just the key for omegamon. ( could also be taichi compass pionting towards everyone elses goal and it meaning "u finished, go help the others")
Just found this and I like it! I think that tais is at the tree. One the others return with what ever they find (assuming we see 'tags and crests' again, I predict they will each aquire tags and megas over the next several episodes, then return to the tree where a secret area opens with tais tag, and once all are assembled, the crests' will shrink and slot, a la the original. Notice how the stone plates have the same indent at the top. COULD just be a call back, but it makes me think the above.

Gerbemon explained that Millenniumon was just a step in the larger Catastrophe to come. So I'm curious what that actually means. That mysterious eyeball Digimon (which I totally forgot about actually) seems to be the source of all the troubles that impacted the human world, but how it relates to Millenniumon is beyond me. Since the floating tablets are actually shaped like the 1999 Crests, I wonder if the kids will actually collect them like before. Will they already be in a Tag or will they just carry these around in their pockets? At any rate, the Crests seemingly being part of a mystery as old as time itself is super interesting, and I can't help but feel it's somehow related to the original continuity. The kids seeing their Crests when they were younger is really interesting, and maybe this will tie into the way Hikari behaved in the first half of the series. Will any of this come back to how Koromon already knew Taichi's name, and how Agumon and Gabumon seemed to be already acquainted when they first met? Hope they can give Sora a good episode next week. The preview looks like there'll be some drama between her and Piyomon. Other thoughts: Where's the Crest of Kindess? The compass holograms reminded me a lot of the D-Ark's radar function. Pulling Burpmon out of v-pet obscurity to be an actually threatening enemy is hilarious. Kind of shocked how they just forcefed him until he violently exploded though.
Possibly! I have heard that theory but it’s honestly a little underwhelming if Ghoulmon is the secret bad guy behind Millenniummon. I’m hoping it’s an original Digimon design!
I enjoy this episode very much, fill with joyness, got that from Wisemon. Also like this information tree, felt this one actually more like Yggdrasil in Norse cosmology, especially how it point to each of their crest destination, similar to Yggdrasil was the center to the cosmos and connecting Nine Worlds.
Solid episode. Really liked that we got more knowledge about Digimon lore and crest info etc. And they showed that final villain mystery Digimon again and it's probably either Deathmon or some brand new Digimon who may be more powerful than Millenniummon, but for me, it's hard to believe it. I'm curious if anything more will be done with the Vademon who were ressurecting Millenniumon. Was it confirmed they were destroyed? It'd be a nice callback if they're involved with the episode where Izzy gains access to mega but I'm not expecting much to be honest.
Maybe they'll introduce the other servers? Iirc the digiworld is composed of different servers, the digidestined(atleast in tamers) server is where yggdrasil(?) and the royal knights are the strongest but there are other servers like the server where the olympian gods reside.
So there is a next "big villain" it's either Zeed Milleniumon Unchained. or they gonna bring back Apocalymon and tell the story they didn't had time to tell back in 1999. or if they are crazy, Lucemon. in frontier he eats data, like the main villain here, and also he is a "fallen angel" like the story they started with Angemon & Devimon
Im really glad we finally got some crest lore. I would love to see how they will tie them into this series. And im glad we got something because I really thought they were never going to say anything about them.
my head cannon for the digimon timeline and the different seasons and movies and somewhat very different lore and history of the digital world is of course multiverse theory. The digital world being created and then splitting off depending on 1] ygdrasil working properly 2] the human creators still able to access/monitor the digital world 3] the digital world itself is conscious and making decisions. Since the crests appears on specifically mega digimon, very powerful digimon or digimon with special bond with humans [dukemon/gallentmon shield as an example], it means that the crests are associated with the very code/foundation of the digital world and stand for special parts of it
I just finished Tri, and when they started talking about the big Reboot, it made me wonder if the digital world really did a reboot and restarted the timeline

If you watch the digimon fusions last special/episodes you get the legends appearing and a special line saying after Tai appears then Davis while they were kids by the frontier character "They are from the same timeline, but are brought together around the same age." which implies that they were either from a different timelines/dimensions and the digital worlds are connected even though there are multiple timeline/dimension versions of it. it's so cool
My guess about the compass: Augumon is the only digimon to repeatedly dark digivole/alternative digivolve, it may have done something to the digivice that needs to be repaired.
Ghoulmon maybe the one-eyed silhouette from the ancient war. Although I am not too excited about him as a final enemy. The other direction tells me... an Argo or Diaboro network-based enemy.
Maybe whatever the compasses are pointing to, Tai's is either already in the hands of the enemy, or may not be in the physical realm, and thus can't point out a specific direction to get to it.
Perhaps the Demon Lords. The number matches the Digidestined if we include Ogudomon, they have not shown up in Adventure:2020 yet, they are often considered some of the strongest villainous Digimon, plus we can get an animation debut for the members who have not appeared in anime yet, and further develop some of the Demon Lords that only had minor roles.
Great seeing Soundbirdmon got utilized again. It's kinda weird how they suddenly dissapeared after being prominent at the start of the series as the mind control digimon.
Here are the possible Digimon I could think of might be the final boss is Arcadiamon (Ultra), Armageddon, Apocalymon and Lucemon Chaos Mode but they could use a Digimon that is none of these and just stick with Millenniummon or they could create a new Digimon for the series to be the final boss. Plus I can't wait to find out what the final boss looks like it might be awesome, disappointing or weird but we have to wait till it shows it's unknown appearance for us to enjoy to watch.
Wouldn’t really make sense as none of those mentioned Digimon are stronger than Zeedmillenniummon. So they’re going to have make a new antagonist or make Gaiamon.
I think Taichi's digivice have been messed up at the point Blitzgreymon first appear, that energy source may mess up more things than just provide an Alternate Evolution, I think Koshiro will find a way to fix it soon (probably when everyone else got their Mega) and made Blitzgreymon accessible from that point on.
Interesting, those stone tablets kind of remind me of how the children found their crests in the original Digimon Adventure - they were usually on stone walls or such out in the world (I know not all of them were but it just makes me recall that).
Tai is like a scaler, Magnitude without direction. Tai already got his position vector but other people and events are the direction vector that guides him to toward place it need to go.
Oh I get it basically if you use all the others when they arrived and receive the crest at there location. You be able to find Tai Crest by the general positon.
The compass’ could still actually be related to getting the kids to mega level. Matt, TK, and Kari all have alternate Megas they can unlock (CresGarurumon, Seraphimon, and Ophanimon) while Tai already has both WarGreymon and BlitzGreymon
What if tai’s digivice is trying to point to the cloud continent above? Cause that continent is always moving. Perhaps they have to go back to where it all started to truely unlock omegamon.

Millenniummon is a character that is present in the lore Of the original 1999 series but only appears in one brief flashback in the actual show and it made appearances in several Japan exclusive video games basically there’s a time paradox involving it and ken becoming evil
When I saw the crests and listening to the voice acting, very one just clicked Tai is BOLD the leader and brave is an understatement. He’s very aggressive and protective total alpha because he almost lost his sister. I felt his courage man. Literally was inspiring me back in the day to not be afraid and bulldoze through things when I was 12 in 1999! Matt - crest of friendship but a bit deeper crest of loyalty if you will. He wasn’t loyal to the team he was willing to leave TK behind and also willing to attack his own friends. There was something deep and dark behind his cool unloyal exterior this resentment that came from abandonment. Been there myself Matt took me some time to overcome it. Loyalty friends these things go deep and Gabumon was right! Izzy - Knowledge and Wisdom. He isn’t just some object that resonates knowledge and facts. He is wisdom he he is wise he used the knowledge to make good decisions and take care of the team! He wanted to hide and become robotic almost due to his parents situation. That was very noble and tough of him. He broke out of that Sora - Crest of Love. Love to protect those you love! Your love makes everyone strong! Made Tai even more Brave! Oddly it built a stronger bond between Tai and Matt! Mimi - Sincerity. For a girl who could easily become a selfish snob she was tried through fire. Her crest of sincerity was gained in the desert where she humbly accepted it only if it will take care of Palmon. That was awesome to me. And it was her sincere desire to protect those she loved that brought Lilimon into existence. As time flowed you saw how saddened she was for others she made memorials. Love that. Joe - in Spanish it’s the credit of sincerity. Joe is one who’s reliable but also genuinely cares for others. Him sincerely trying to save TK from drowning brought Zudomon into existence. Joe also stepped away from the team to protect Mimi and ultimately decided to take Mimi back take charge and say time to return if we aren’t together if we don’t beat the enemy we will continue to lose friends. What a warpath change for him! Forged in fire my friend. Always loved Joe’s banter! TK and Kari two special crests that just flowed hope and light. This weird Holy Spirit could possess Kari and re-energize Digimon. Her light was something special. Equally this made them the bigger targets maybe that’s why they were assigned Angel Digimon. Another I want to add is Ken. Crest of kindness. He buried inside his evil base
So I think the end game BBEG is going to a one if the Digital entities (or a new one). I think arrows are pointing to the other DIM cards and that reason why Tai's is spinning is because he already has the one from that episode in junkyard (if I'm remembering correctly). As for the role the crest play themselves I'm sure but my best guess is that it's going to have something to do with what was said back in the 02 series where the original digi team gave up their power to "seal the darkness" or something to that effect. It would just be really jarring if the other kids needed the crest to get to mega but the Omnimon boys and the holy babies didn't.
We got CresceGarurumon missing still, plus the other Megas. There's the possibility of Patamon and Gatomon having branching paths and their dragon forms are not the true Megas... I see 6-7 solo episodes. Only possible shared one is Kari and TK.
I Think because his Digi device is the crest of courage it's either his power is associated with the ppl around him or it's implying he has to go to space because the crest is also associated with space/sun?
I know it's a slim chance, but the flash-back sequence makes me hope that at some point they discover that this basic sequence of events happened before. And even though it wasn't named, cheers to Yggrasil in its world-tree form. *crosses fingers* Come on Leomon. Let this be the series you survive.
Maybe Tai's compass isn't pointing to a specific location because its not in the Digital World. Maybe the location he needs to go is back in the Human World.
It was great seeing the Crests being something more than a plot device for evolution. The show implies that the Crest have a bigger role in the digital world and maybe the digidestined are the ambassadors to that power. As for why tai's digivice is goin around in circles.............. idk honestly. There are other people in the comments that have came up with some good ideas like he's already at the place he needs to be or like since he's already has a mega he doesn't need to go. I personally think that it's because he has three megas (let's not forget machindramon). Its very unprecedented that a tamer would have so many megas, Tai has maxed out on his experience already. The others need to catch up and I actually dont mind that they split. Discovering your purpose in life tends to be a solitary one. And that brings me joy to my knowledge lol

I think they are going to introduce the place that is neither the human world nor the digital world but instead is witchelny which is a world that contain digimon as well and is the place that is most connected to magic and some digimon in this world have different forms such as gallantmon and piedmon which are two off the top of my head that have different forms
Maybe they're compasses in the personality sense, leading the kids to more of what drives them or what they need |i.e. Izzy's would lead him to more knowledge|, and Tai's is going haywire because perhaps his courage is having a break. Or, that anywhere he goes will take courage; so alternate: that the crests are pointing to things that might *require* what the kids have.

Agumon has awakened two Mega forms: WarGreymon and BlitzGreymon. At first, it could feel like BltzGreymon was one-time only. But if Gabumon were to ever become CresGarurumon, it would become even more likely that Omegamon Alter-S would appear. And while Patamon and Tailmon have evolved to Goddramon and Holydramon, they still haven't evolved to Seraphimon and Ophanimon since the ancient war.
Tai's already achieved three mega's this season so his digivice has decided to take a few episodes out to let the others catch up.

Interesting you say North Star for tai, I did some research and Kari’s is actually representing the Planet Venus , 8 pointed star ancient symbol for Venus, while Tai is Polaris the North Star, the only star that stays stationary because it’s at the North Pole, hence tais compass spinning around, meaning he was already at the center of where he had to be.
Maybe the compass is going out of control because Tai was already at the location he needs to be.

Maybe it was because Tai's location was where they were at the slabs. Compasses tend to do that when you're exactly at the poles or when something powerful disrupting.
I think Taichi's arrow is trying to point towards his own digivice. But the compass is in a 2d plane, so it's stuck spinning around. Cause it can't point downwards.
He has already unlocked Blitzgreymon, and so the data is already in his Digivice. Yamato, Takeru, and Hikari are probably going to unlock Cresgarurumon, Seraphimon, and Ophanimon, in the coming episodes.

I just assumed the part with Taichi's "compass" was in relation to how Tai has TWO Megas and perhaps has something to do with how his Digivice was crackling with red electricity after BlitzGreymon.
I think the show is trying to set up Blitzgreymon and Cresgarurumon as the new default megas of Agumon and Gabumon. Both of them are more natural evolutions of Metalgreymon and Weregarurumon, respectively.

Respectively, Goddramon feels like the natural Mega of Patamon but Seraphimon feels more appropriate for HolyAngemon. Still would be cool to see alternates for the others like how Plesiomon feels like a better Mega for Gomamon.

If we're going on colour, the original Metalgreymon was purple from the digimon virtual pet, like the Virus version we eventually got to see in Adventure 02. The 1999 anime was the debut of the Vaccine Metalgreymon we know today. You can see they kept the purple for his head inside the metal covering.
If you look at both Wargreymon and MetalGarurumon, they feel closer to alternate perfect evolutions of Greymon and Garurumon. And both of them debuted in the 1999 series.

I think it’s cool how they are going to the hot springs because there was a game called digimon championship. It was like raising your digimon, whenever your digimon got tired or hurt you would put them in the hot springs. I thought that was a nice call back.

No matter how good the next could be, it still won't justify the complete lackluster writing for the blank slate of a character Sora has been in this reboot. This episode is good nonetheless though it saddens me we seemingly won't get a real world arc involving the parents.

I hate to say it but I agree on Sora. And it's such a tragic thing, especially given her backstory from the OG show, we got context to who she was, especially with the fact that she lived with her single mother (her dad appears briefly in Adventure 02) as well as how she's an avid soccer player and tomboy. Now although she is sort of like this and her debut episode with her taking care of Biyomon was great, this reboot has fallen short of trying to give her more depth. It's a shame because I always liked her character before. What we currently have is someone that's very surface-level. Had the writers spent a bit more time developing her character I would actually be very satisfied with what is to come (that being her finally getting Biyomon's mega Phoenixmon) which would've solidified Sora as a whole and her bond with Biyomon. But we'll just have to see how it all plays out.

At the end we didn't learn anything specific about the crests, a little slow the episode. I hope they will explain the meaning behind the crests. A funny callback the hot springs and also quite interesting of why Tailmon and Patamon couldn't evolve. I'm thinking we could get alternate digivolutions for the holy Digimon, Nefertimon is coming;
I'm pretty sure the holy digimons being weak after evolving into the Holy Dragons is the justification they'll use for both of them using Pegasusmon and Nefertimon for a while.
It was a great episode. I am so glad we finally got some much needed backstory on the crests. We have been sorely needing some context for them for ages and I do kind of wish we had gotten to see this earlier with some new context provided from this episode. But I digress, it was still some good backstory.
So yes, the Great Catastrophe is obviously to do with the "one-eye alien" creature we've seen back in Episode 18. It makes another cameo here in this episode so I sincerely hope we finally get to find out what this entity is actually called. As far as I know, this is the final boss of the Digivice 2020 toy. It just doesn't have an official name yet. And I get why people thought Millenniummon was going to be the big bad, but if you pay attention, this other creature has been making a few cameos throughout the show so it stood to reason that Millenniummon was not the end boss.
Burpmon is the literal digimon equivalent to Kirby and I love it. It's another brand new digimon introduced for the show.
Basically we finally are going to get the mega episodes we have been so damn desperate for. As long as they have great defining moments, really fucking good evolution animations (and by god for Biyomon especially), I will be happy.
The crests seem to be more part of them, like how it was explained in Adventure 1999 and 02, just in this instance, there is no feeling or emotion associated with them or the kids but rather with their actions and stronger moments like how T.K's is usually hope or Matt's has to do with friendship as how he interacts with people and digimon alike around him
What if the crests select children who correspond to them throughout time (and maybe space if we are going with this being an alternate timeline to the original seasons) whenever the digital world is in danger. It could also loosely link with the Tri movies (and maybe different seasons) and the existence of multiple Chosen Children at some point. Just like the origin of the 02 kids ties into them witnessing the internet battle of the 01 kids in the 1999 series movie I feel like the foundation of multiple sets of digidestined are being laid. In Digimon Frontier even though we followed a specific group there were many children called to the digital world outside of the core cast so maybe this episode is a prelude to how the children in general are selected.
I remember a long time ago in the episodes when the incident with the power outages in tokyo that some kids started seeing the battle between Omegamon and Orochimon for whatever reason. If we're applying that the crest have beeing showing up to our chosen children then does that mean it has been showing up for other kids as well and our main eight were just the more powerful versions that got to get picked. Depending on the selection process, it's begging the question if those kids will have to play a role in the real final boss battle that is to come too if our main eight is not enough; especially when you take into account that it took the entire digital world to take down Millineumon with one Gaia Force.
Side note: Some of what I said is in hopes for some kind of Adventure 02 reboot simply because of how they're implying the selection process when it comes to the chosen children.
I like what you’re saying, and I’ll expand on that cause it ties in really well with something they say the original and 02. So the original 8 digidestined watched the Greymon vs Parrotmon fight in the prequel to the show, and then all the new kids in 02 (including the ones who aren’t part of the main team) saw one of the many Digimon battles from the original cast and later became digidestined, so what if all those kids who saw the Omegamon vs Nidhoggmon fight are gonna become digidestined and fight alongside our chosen ones group? It would give all seven of the holy digimon a partner to fight with and could replace the legion of Pidmons from the original war.
Could be Tai's digivice already corrupted by dark energy where agumon once almost evolve to Machinedramon...

First of, mimi parted with taichi and sora just a few moments after they have left the tree. So we have 5 groups, joe-tk-kari, tai-sora, izzy, mimi, and matt.
I presume one of the reason why tai's digivice just spins around instead of pointing somewhere else, it could be one of this 3 possibilities :
1. Tai has unlocked all of possible evolutions that agumon can have, (we know gabumon still has cresgarurumon yet to unfold)
2. The Tai digivice direction is nowhere on the earth location (such as beneath the ground or above the sky [in the space or what-so-ever, since the courage has similar shape with the sun]), or the tree itself is the location for Tai.
3. The direction for Tai will only appear once all of the the other crest's quests has been resolved.
4. The object that is directed by the digivice is of nowhere to find or it is everywhere.
I think the 1st and 2nd reasons combined make sense. I think the arrow is trying to point to his digivice itself. Hence why it's spinning around.

That's the in-universe answer of course. The out of universe answer is that the spinning arrows are easy Macguffins to get the kids where they need to be in order to unlock megas.

At the first season, the shadow beasts need to be upgraded in terms of skills, so each one of them is then directed to a location (ruins or valley) where there is a training mechanism such that each of them will become stronger. Is it kind of similar in your opinion or not?
If so, rather than only having an ultimate/mega version of each rookie digimon, I wish that there will be special evolution or form for each of them, that distinguish them from common mega digimons.

I feel the crest are the key to reaching Mega, with the 2 examples we have WarGreymon appeared when Tai and MetalGreymon at the time wouldn't surrender or give up but the reason why was to protect the woodmon digimon who didn't want to fight and in a sense were weak. It take courage to stand up after being knocked down but it takes more to do so protecting others. With MetalGarurumon it was in line with saving a friend from the darkness within, loneliness can drive a person to think horrible thoughts, Machmon was alone for so long he wanted to die, a friend sticks by you thru the good and bad even help you out of the fog of dispare
Tai's compass only spins around so he can be around even when the episodes not about him and Agumon. You know they love to stuff us with Taigumon from Start to End
What if the dark energy corrupted his digivice?
You guys remember that dark sphere thing that was in the network where Algomon and Eyesmon came from? I'm starting to realize Devimon at the time was only using the MoonMilleniumon crystal he had to draw energy from the chaos caused by those Digimon that came from that Dark Sphere in the network. If those events are being mentioned again and that objects from the human world is still falling into the Digital World, it means that Dark Sphere in the network has resurfaced or is moving to its' final directive or some sort. Either way we are seeing more of it again.
What we can expect from the remaining episodes before the finale episodes and that is everyone finding the answers to their crests in which they will achieve greater heights while also uncovering any info regarding the Great Catastrophe.
So what one saying is Moon Milleniumon was distraction for what ever this dark sphere was to get the kids out of the way and Burpmon was another distraction to get rid of data on the Great Catastrophe since those odd digimon drop it in that location.
@@MaxHinaNaru Well you see those bats again after a long time and they sent Burpmon to eat any and all data in the tree meaning someone is trying to silence anyone from uncovering the means to stopping it from happening. Those bat digimon up till now was believed to be minions sent by Devimon but now we know that was wrong and we don't see them much during Milleniumon's resurrection campaign. Actually think about it for a second, Milleniumon was supposedly defeated but how has it awoken after so long unless there was a trigger for it and that being the chaos caused by the Digimon that came from that Dark Sphere thing? The intent of the Great Catastrophe is to create massive digital surge through major events and eventually destroy the Digital World using that data surge created by the human world and with the Digital World gone, everything that is connected to some digital network in the living world will cease.

A possible reason for Tai's arrow being busted could be that what caused BlitzGreymon has somehow corrupted his digivice.
Maybe the compasses are not pointing towards an actual location but an object (maybe the pendants?) that can be moved. Maybe Tai's just not on the digital world but on the human world instead which would lead to the human world section for the final battle.
This episode has me hyped for what is to come
The big stones look like the physical objects that the crests from the original Digimon were, as they were originally meant to slide on to the tags. They were little slides that had that same shape.

i like the idea of Tai kind of being put on hold with his crest and going to play a support role. while he is the "leader", a lot of focus has been on him and with a main cast this big, it is hard to balance importance and screentime. I do wonder why his compass is acting crazy. the theory that the others have to figure it out first and unlock the secrets before he gets his (kind of reminds me of the voltron reboot where all the other liopns had to be present before the black one was unlocked) does sound promising.
the only thing different with Tai that none of the other kids had experienced that i could think of was the corruption and dark-digivolution back in episode 24 against NeoDevimon. it could just be my wishful thinking that the events of that episode would have lasting consequences. since we didn't get skullgraymon and the involvement and knowledge of the crests in this reboot have been different, i have wondered if this would be different?
either way, super hyped about learning more of the lore and crests and I cant wait to see what happens next!

hikari, takeru and yamato still have a ultimates evolution left while taichi achieved both the normal and the blitz ultimate. SO it could be that while everyones crest will lead them to their "true" ultimate taichi compass doesnt register since he already found its true ultimate and so it is in fact pointing towards himself...or they are boring and taichi is just the key for omegamon. ( could also be taichi compass pionting towards everyone elses goal and it meaning "u finished, go help the others")
Just found this and I like it! I think that tais is at the tree. One the others return with what ever they find (assuming we see 'tags and crests' again, I predict they will each aquire tags and megas over the next several episodes, then return to the tree where a secret area opens with tais tag, and once all are assembled, the crests' will shrink and slot, a la the original. Notice how the stone plates have the same indent at the top. COULD just be a call back, but it makes me think the above.

Gerbemon explained that Millenniumon was just a step in the larger Catastrophe to come. So I'm curious what that actually means. That mysterious eyeball Digimon (which I totally forgot about actually) seems to be the source of all the troubles that impacted the human world, but how it relates to Millenniumon is beyond me.
Since the floating tablets are actually shaped like the 1999 Crests, I wonder if the kids will actually collect them like before. Will they already be in a Tag or will they just carry these around in their pockets? At any rate, the Crests seemingly being part of a mystery as old as time itself is super interesting, and I can't help but feel it's somehow related to the original continuity. The kids seeing their Crests when they were younger is really interesting, and maybe this will tie into the way Hikari behaved in the first half of the series. Will any of this come back to how Koromon already knew Taichi's name, and how Agumon and Gabumon seemed to be already acquainted when they first met?
Hope they can give Sora a good episode next week. The preview looks like there'll be some drama between her and Piyomon.

I enjoy this episode very much, fill with joyness, got that from Wisemon. Also like this information tree, felt this one actually more like Yggdrasil in Norse cosmology, especially how it point to each of their crest destination, similar to Yggdrasil was the center to the cosmos and connecting Nine Worlds.
Well the preview for next week is gonna have Phonenixmon or Hououmon so I'm stoked to see that
Solid episode. Really liked that we got more knowledge about Digimon lore and crest info etc. And they showed that final villain mystery Digimon again and it's probably either Deathmon or some brand new Digimon who may be more powerful than Millenniummon, but for me, it's hard to believe it. We just need to wait now and see how the story folds in onward. PS: Cute Kirby
I'm curious if anything more will be done with the Vademon who were ressurecting Millenniumon. Was it confirmed they were destroyed? It'd be a nice callback if they're involved with the episode where Izzy gains access to mega but I'm not expecting much to be honest.
Maybe they'll introduce the other servers? Iirc the digiworld is composed of different servers, the digidestined(atleast in tamers) server is where yggdrasil(?) and the royal knights are the strongest but there are other servers like the server where the olympian gods reside.

Im really glad we finally got some crest lore. I would love to see how they will tie them into this series. And im glad we got something because I really thought they were never going to say anything about them.

my head cannon for the digimon timeline and the different seasons and movies and somewhat very different lore and history of the digital world is of course multiverse theory. The digital world being created and then splitting off depending on 1] ygdrasil working properly 2] the human creators still able to access/monitor the digital world 3] the digital world itself is conscious and making decisions. Since the crests appears on specifically mega digimon, very powerful digimon or digimon with special bond with humans [dukemon/gallentmon shield as an example], it means that the crests are associated with the very code/foundation of the digital world and stand for special parts of it
I just finished Tri, and when they started talking about the big Reboot, it made me wonder if the digital world really did a reboot and restarted the timeline

If you watch the digimon fusions last special/episodes you get the legends appearing and a special line saying after Tai appears then Davis while they were kids by the frontier character "They are from the same timeline, but are brought together around the same age." which implies that they were either from a different timelines/dimensions and the digital worlds are connected even though there are multiple timeline/dimension versions of it. it's so cool

My guess about the compass: Augumon is the only digimon to repeatedly dark digivole/alternative digivolve, it may have done something to the digivice that needs to be repaired.
I wonder if the lack of the kindness crest from series 2 means they have no plans to include it, would bum me out a bit but id get it.
Ghoulmon maybe the one-eyed silhouette from the ancient war. Although I am not too excited about him as a final enemy. The other direction tells me... an Argo or Diaboro network-based enemy.
Maybe whatever the compasses are pointing to, Tai's is either already in the hands of the enemy, or may not be in the physical realm, and thus can't point out a specific direction to get to it.

Perhaps the Demon Lords. The number matches the Digidestined if we include Ogudomon, they have not shown up in Adventure:2020 yet, they are often considered some of the strongest villainous Digimon, plus we can get an animation debut for the members who have not appeared in anime yet, and further develop some of the Demon Lords that only had minor roles.
Great seeing Soundbirdmon got utilized again. It's kinda weird how they suddenly dissapeared after being prominent at the start of the series as the mind control digimon.
Here are the possible Digimon I could think of might be the final boss is Arcadiamon (Ultra), Armageddon, Apocalymon and Lucemon Chaos Mode but they could use a Digimon that is none of these and just stick with Millenniummon or they could create a new Digimon for the series to be the final boss.
Plus I can't wait to find out what the final boss looks like it might be awesome, disappointing or weird but we have to wait till it shows it's unknown appearance for us to enjoy to watch.
Wouldn’t really make sense as none of those mentioned Digimon are stronger than Zeedmillenniummon. So they’re going to have make a new antagonist or make Gaiamon.
I think Taichi's digivice have been messed up at the point Blitzgreymon first appear, that energy source may mess up more things than just provide an Alternate Evolution, I think Koshiro will find a way to fix it soon (probably when everyone else got their Mega) and made Blitzgreymon accessible from that point on.

Interesting, those stone tablets kind of remind me of how the children found their crests in the original Digimon Adventure - they were usually on stone walls or such out in the world (I know not all of them were but it just makes me recall that).
Tai is like a scaler, Magnitude without direction.
Tai already got his position vector but other people and events are the direction vector that guides him to toward place it need to go.
Oh I get it basically if you use all the others when they arrived and receive the crest at there location. You be able to find Tai Crest by the general positon.
The compass’ could still actually be related to getting the kids to mega level. Matt, TK, and Kari all have alternate Megas they can unlock (CresGarurumon, Seraphimon, and Ophanimon) while Tai already has both WarGreymon and BlitzGreymon
What if tai’s digivice is trying to point to the cloud continent above? Cause that continent is always moving. Perhaps they have to go back to where it all started to truely unlock omegamon.
If it is out of control this means he is in the place. I think irl when a magnetic compass is in the center of the magnetic field it spins out of control.

Millenniummon is a character that is present in the lore Of the original 1999 series but only appears in one brief flashback in the actual show and it made appearances in several Japan exclusive video games basically there’s a time paradox involving it and ken becoming evil
What if Metalgarurumon episode was supposed to be after this episode bc then that would make the tai’s compass problem a little bit easier

Tai is BOLD the leader and brave is an understatement. He’s very aggressive and protective total alpha because he almost lost his sister. I felt his courage man. Literally was inspiring me back in the day to not be afraid and bulldoze through things when I was 12 in 1999!
Matt - crest of friendship but a bit deeper crest of loyalty if you will. He wasn’t loyal to the team he was willing to leave TK behind and also willing to attack his own friends. There was something deep and dark behind his cool unloyal exterior this resentment that came from abandonment. Been there myself Matt took me some time to overcome it. Loyalty friends these things go deep and Gabumon was right!
Izzy - Knowledge and Wisdom. He isn’t just some object that resonates knowledge and facts. He is wisdom he he is wise he used the knowledge to make good decisions and take care of the team! He wanted to hide and become robotic almost due to his parents situation. That was very noble and tough of him. He broke out of that
Sora - Crest of Love. Love to protect those you love! Your love makes everyone strong! Made Tai even more Brave! Oddly it built a stronger bond between Tai and Matt!
Mimi - Sincerity. For a girl who could easily become a selfish snob she was tried through fire. Her crest of sincerity was gained in the desert where she humbly accepted it only if it will take care of Palmon. That was awesome to me. And it was her sincere desire to protect those she loved that brought Lilimon into existence. As time flowed you saw how saddened she was for others she made memorials. Love that.
Joe - in Spanish it’s the credit of sincerity. Joe is one who’s reliable but also genuinely cares for others. Him sincerely trying to save TK from drowning brought Zudomon into existence. Joe also stepped away from the team to protect Mimi and ultimately decided to take Mimi back take charge and say time to return if we aren’t together if we don’t beat the enemy we will continue to lose friends. What a warpath change for him! Forged in fire my friend. Always loved Joe’s banter!
TK and Kari two special crests that just flowed hope and light. This weird Holy Spirit could possess Kari and re-energize Digimon. Her light was something special. Equally this made them the bigger targets maybe that’s why they were assigned Angel Digimon.
Another I want to add is Ken. Crest of kindness. He buried inside his evil base

So I think the end game BBEG is going to a one if the Digital entities (or a new one). I think arrows are pointing to the other DIM cards and that reason why Tai's is spinning is because he already has the one from that episode in junkyard (if I'm remembering correctly). As for the role the crest play themselves I'm sure but my best guess is that it's going to have something to do with what was said back in the 02 series where the original digi team gave up their power to "seal the darkness" or something to that effect. It would just be really jarring if the other kids needed the crest to get to mega but the Omnimon boys and the holy babies didn't.

We got CresceGarurumon missing still, plus the other Megas. There's the possibility of Patamon and Gatomon having branching paths and their dragon forms are not the true Megas... I see 6-7 solo episodes. Only possible shared one is Kari and TK.
The next episode is a Sora centered episode where she learns to embody the Crest of Love and Biyomon gains her mega form.

It was great seeing the Crests being something more than a plot device for evolution. The show implies that the Crest have a bigger role in the digital world and maybe the digidestined are the ambassadors to that power. As for why tai's digivice is goin around in circles.............. idk honestly. There are other people in the comments that have came up with some good ideas like he's already at the place he needs to be or like since he's already has a mega he doesn't need to go. I personally think that it's because he has three megas (let's not forget machindramon). Its very unprecedented that a tamer would have so many megas, Tai has maxed out on his experience already. The others need to catch up and I actually dont mind that they split. Discovering your purpose in life tends to be a solitary one. And that brings me joy to my knowledge lol
One thing I really like is the fact that they are expanding the Digital World to the point we need an Amusement Park WARGREYMON Gaia Force Rollercoaster
also technically tai has 2 megas blitzgreymon and wargreymon according to my research are both megas also maybe it's not messed up maybe the crest of courage is closer than we think
I personally think it could be possible that, the reason Taichi's compass is acting up like that, is because he already obtained the crest somehow, he just needs to learn how to "unlock" it..
what about another continent like how in the 1999 version they crossed an ocean to go look for the crest. but they did all separated at the end of the episode

I think they are going to introduce the place that is neither the human world nor the digital world but instead is witchelny which is a world that contain digimon as well and is the place that is most connected to magic and some digimon in this world have different forms such as gallantmon and piedmon which are two off the top of my head that have different forms
Maybe they're compasses in the personality sense, leading the kids to more of what drives them or what they need |i.e. Izzy's would lead him to more knowledge|, and Tai's is going haywire because perhaps his courage is having a break. Or, that anywhere he goes will take courage; so alternate: that the crests are pointing to things that might *require* what the kids have.

Agumon has awakened two Mega forms: WarGreymon and BlitzGreymon.
At first, it could feel like BltzGreymon was one-time only. But if Gabumon were to ever become CresGarurumon, it would become even more likely that Omegamon Alter-S would appear.
And while Patamon and Tailmon have evolved to Goddramon and Holydramon, they still haven't evolved to Seraphimon and Ophanimon since the ancient war.
