Fun quilt blocks. I sew the mountains ( tips)not the valleys. If this wasn’t a wonky block I think it would be better to square up but a little shifting can bury some of the extra in your seam I think. I like the way it turned out.

check your stash and see if you have enough of two different fabrics that match pretty close and replace those two squares. Sadie is your friend and worth the extra effort. Maybe you can use that fabric from your stash with some of the left over purple/gold and make a matching envelope style sofa pillow to pull it all together. The quilt is stunning.

I had to laugh as a comment stated that she "could see the 'Utah' blocks 50 feet away on a galloping horse!" I agree, I think they need to be changed. BUT, I also saw a few people suggest putting an applique in those blocks, which I think would work equally as well. Maybe stitch in the ditch while on the Gammill with gold thread to define the block edges? Cute quilt and you make me smile with all your antics!!

Men love flowers also. Yes. I double count my lines. I keep the pinked edges. Don't fix it. Some of those purples will fade with use and time. It is a beautiful quilt. I would use cotton flannel on the back of that quilt (with thin batting inside). Cotton will burn; but, minky or cuddle will melt. Think about a flash fire. I try to use all natural fibers, when I can. Thank you for this video.

I think that you could embroider around the inside edge of the purple 'charms' , maybe with a gold floss, in a decorative stitch and that would be enough to delineate it from the background purple. Easier than pulling it out and 'setting all those corners back in! It looks awesome!

I was thinking the same thing--or do one of the gold and then swap another square from one of the other blocks and put a gold where that square came from because my eye will definitely be drawn to two gold squares in adjoining blocks. I know that's one more block to be picked, but I think the overall look will be much better by not having the two gold squares in blcoks close together, even if you change the orientation. But changing the orientaion would be the next best thing, IMHO. :)

Another thing... you asked if others always count twice before cutting. I rarely use the mat for cutting measurements. I will use a second large square ruler. Di you should always square up your blocks in between steps, in this case if you decided that your blocks were 9", then you should have trim to make sure they were 9" and that would have taken care of the pincked edges 😊

I personally would swap the purple with the gold but that is just me. I enjoy hearing all your tips! I don't usually like wonky blocks but I do like this one. It may be that because the sashing creates a gentle, uniform wave.

Thank you for showing the tip about four patch twist. That work for me about half the time. I love the colors. And lot the blade keeper. I enjoy using yardage over precuts. Yardage is usually cheaper. I know there is more variety in precuts. Anyways happy trails. Your quilt is so cool. I really like your style.
