The Original Purple mattress is a classic blend of foam and Purple’s patented hyper-elastic polymer grid. It has exceptional cooling performance, moderate to high sinkage depth, low motion transfer, fast response, high bounce, and excellent pressure relief.
The biggest strike against Purple is the edge support. It’s just not great no matter what way you slice it.
As long as amazing edge support isn’t critical for you then the Purple mattress could be a great fit. It’s medium feel creates excellent hug and contour, while the top-layer grid creates cooling on par with the very best mattresses we’ve tested to date.

@@Soundsaboutright42 Me personally? No probably not...I don't love the feel of Purple's grid material. I prefer the feel of memory foam and plusher euro tops.

Not yet, but we're going to order the full Rejuvenate line for testing soon.
Smart Life Calle is unfortunately not one I've tested either. But thanks for the suggestion. I'll take a look at it.

Do you think the grid could convert a side sleeper to a back sleeper?

I don't think so.
The grid is great at creating improved cooling and it's comfortable in general, but it's not a miracle worker. And it's not especially better / worse for any sleeping position.

@@NapLabReviews thanks, good to know! I still keep circling back to the original since I'm only 5'11 and 140 lbs, so all of the hybrids seem like overkill. Edge support does seem like a huge downside though.

@@PaulHo Indeed...they hybrid Purple mattresses are great, but needlessly expensive.
