As someone who has been learning for a while, when I was struggling to make progress, it usually meant I had to change something about my technique, or my practice. For example, practicing small sections over and over very slowly and with a metronome instead of playing the whole piece at full tempo everytime.
At 4:12. You suggest crossing over the thumb to play the ‘B’. Ignoring what notes follow, why cross over the thumb? Why not just move the thumb. A cross over always requires more effort and time.
Generally speaking its better to avoid playing multiple notes in a row with the same finger as it can be difficult to play them smoothly. By crossing over the thumb and playing with the second finger you can get more control (especially at faster speeds) and a more even sound. if you were to play both notes in a row with the thumb you also wouldn't be able to play legato (unless of course you used pedal). On the other hand, if the 2 notes were meant to be played staccato, then id play them both with the thumb. Hope this helps :)
Man I love you
In my experience, a great composer to study and master choosing fingerings is Chopin
What do you suggest for an over 70 adult learning forever without mastery? Your videos are very helpful.
