Sup Brian, its Adam Zenkteler, one of your pupils (piano student) .
It's nice to see how my Rachmaninoff Prelude in C sharp minor is turning out (I love your calm approach when you teach me). To the people reading this comment (Except for, Brian of course), Brian is quite a great teacher. He is quite flexible with what exercises that you chose to do. With the exercises that he gave me, he gave me the Czerny Exercises. Later with my lessons, we switched to the Hanon exercises instead. At the current time of writing this comment, we are going through the middle section of the Rachmaninoff prelude, and I hope to post it on my TH-cam channel. Don't expect it to be posted in a few weeks, it takes time to make a piano piece sound good.
Hope to see you next lesson,
    Adam Zenkteler.
P.S. I am hoping to become a revolutionary pianist some day, just wait and see 😉.

This is the FIRST time I have heard USEFUL advise on how to practice sight reading. No vacillation, just straight talk. Steps presented easily and clearly. Thank you. Encore👏👏 encore 👏👏

I’m surprised your teacher never told you this.

This is very useful, thank you for talking about this topic with an easy approach.
I started to sight-read more easy sheets those months and they really help to train my reading "skill". I never watch my fingers when I play, this helps a lot as you mentioned , now I'm trying also to look forward in the sheet, that's very hard for me, but must be very useful.
I would like to ask you something: when you are reading (sheets), how can you train your peripheral vision for watching both the left and the right hand togheter ? I still struggle to read fluently for both hands togheter.
Can I read one hand separetly at time, and then after one read I put it togheter ?
I love your edit on this video, this made me really relax idk why, thanks, enjoy your practice 😉!
Edit: Guys, I recently tried to read sheet music with both hands togheter ONLY, I think that I'll keep doing so, it's really effettive.
I think that you also have to NOT stop, play at a slow tempo first (ofc) and if you got one wrong note, just skip it and go forward or to the next measure, good luck to anyone practicing an inserimento, you can do this !!

Your videos are brilliant and there's just too few of them. You're a born teacher. Do you give lessons at all? If so, how can we contact you to set that up?

Yes, pattern recognition and idiokinetics - a rather obscure word, which means memorizing the position of keys -

    • @Chocomint3383
      @Chocomint3383 ปีที่แล้ว

Idk I think it might just be memorisation... metacognition just thinking about thinking

@@Chocomint3383 no, im talking about another fanzy-pants word that I forgot. I used "metacognition" as a placeholder as it suggest a similar skill, but I am talking about something different

@@martinplayzrob_lox nope not really, muscle memory is something everyone kinda already has, its not something you practice a lot to get
