Marking lines as you have done putting the mark precisely on center is actually causes inaccurate cuts. There is no way to know where to cut. If the cut is on the line the part will be short by 1/2 the blade width for each cut. Much better to either mark so as to leave the mark when cutting or so as to cut the mark. Putting an arrow on the part to know which side to cut on.
