  • If you have poor posture, you not only are aware of it but likely would welcome an easy way to fix it. In this video, I’m showing you a 4 step plan that can attack the most common posture flaws to give you a nice, tall, upright posture sooner than you think. I’m going to show you how to hit correct rounded shoulders, a hunched back, crooked neck, forward head and tilted pelvis. When you apply the easy drills shown here you will start to feel better almost instantly and work towards permanently fixing your bad posture.

The four biggest problem areas for those with bad posture is the neck, shoulders, mid back and pelvis. Specifically, if you spend a lot of time sitting at a desk or behind the wheel you will wind up getting slumping shoulders and a rounded back. To counteract the head being pulled downward, you wind up tilting your head up so you can look straight ahead. This has the effect of overarching your neck and weakening the deep neck flexors. Finally, when the upper spine curves forward, the pelvis winds up curling under. This posterior pelvic tilt is something that adaptively tightens the hamstrings and weakens the lower back.
If you want to fix your posture you have to hit each of these areas with individualized attention. We have actually addressed each of these in depth with the following videos:
How to Fix Rounded Shoulders - • How to Fix Rounded Sho...
How to Fix Anterior Pelvic Tilt - • How to Fix Anterior Pe...
How to Fix Posterior Pelvic Tilt - • Stop Stretching Your H...
How to Fix a Rounded Upper Back • Thoracic Mobility Dril...
That said, there is something that you can do for each of these areas that will help you to correct the postural problems without having to spend a long time each day. These are efficient and effective but do need your consistency in order to make a lasting impact on the correction. The funny thing about posture is that we often spend a lifetime doing the things that ruin our posture in the first place, yet expect that we will be able to fix it in an hour.
While not an hour, these posture correction exercises will have an immediate impact on the way you feel. You should feel as if you have more mobility in the tightened areas and that your body begins to move more free and easy. From here, with a bit of consistency you will be able to make permanent changes in your posture that will have you feeling stronger and looking much better than you do now.
An important note on posture and working out, that I referenced earlier, is that it is not a good idea to lift weights when your body is severely out of alignment. All you are doing is strengthening poor posture and dysfunction. Lifting weights in the presence of dysfunction is quickly going to lead to not only other compensations elsewhere in the kinetic chain but likely wind up in injury. It is much smarter to fix the issues with your posture first and then strengthen your body to reinforce the new perfect posture.
For a complete program that helps you to correct your posture at the same time that you are actually building new muscle and getting ripped, head to athleanx.com and get the ATHLEAN-X Training System. Use the same exact workout routine used by Jesse to not only add muscle to his frame but dramatically improve how he looks when standing.

      @jacquelinebennett 5 ปีที่แล้ว +126

I’ve always had bad posture but lugging around a heavy ass bag in school did not help. Because I carried every book and binder to every class because we simply were not given enough time between classes to get from half our classes to our lockers (and the schools I went to had small lockers three to a row) and if you had a middle or bottom locker sometimes eve a top locker you were screwed and would be late, and being late was not an option for me as most teachers would hear nothing of it if you tried to explain it was because of the crowds at the lockers.
Now I work in an office at a desk so being at a phone and computer all day kn top of being a gamer its worsened my posture and I’ve been working to fix it. Its not perfect but its getting there but I have a tilted pelvis and thats what I really need to work on. Even though I’m correcting it keeping it is hard because I resort to my bad posture when my back starts hurting from the many accidents I’ve been in.

Doing these posture series videos helped fixed my neck pain, frozen shoulders, tight low back, tight abs, anterior pelvic tilt, tight glutes, weak hamstrings, rickety knees(left would give out unexpectedly), strained left calf and chronic cramping in my left foot. I'd recommend if any of these sound like issues you've faced.

This video cures bad posture, anxiety and depression. I have bad posture, worse than the guy in the video had before. Bad posture, not only lowers your stamina through the day but also lowers your confidence, your sleep and your cognition. I can speak by myself. The 'nerd neck' as he called it, constrains the blood flow to the brain, triggering anxiety. You can't properly relax while sleeping, you are always making an huge effort to look straight and good in public, as your heavy head only wants to fall down and you can't walk normally. You can't oxygenate the brain properly, you can't relax neither body neither mind 24/7. What a great video. I've been trying to fix my posture for some time now, but all I see is standing straight on a wall doctor videos. It is a good exercise too. But by what this trainer spoke and by what I've been researching for the last year in the subject, he really knows what he is talking about. Many doctors instead a prescribing pills to patients, they should look first at their posture and forward them to this kind of treatment. Bad posture heavily messes with health, confidence and cognition.

Me neither, I only extrapolated by personal experience. Where do you feel more anxiety? In the thorax. Anxiety is only a command from our brain to our thorax to demand oxygen. This happens when you have a thinking overload and lack of oxygen in the brain to supply all those neurons working.

Then neck exercise I'm scared of... I do not remember if you taught me this for my previously terrible posture, now just bad, s- shaped spine, but I stand up at a wall jam (between two rooms = 4-6" wide, heels against wall, then butt, then shoulders, then all the back touch the wall and try for the knees and finally my kyphotic neck so my head touches. It forces in the anterior core (abdominals) and pulling the shoulders back as far as you can to push against the wall is a huge isomemetric strengthener. Started at 20-30 seconds and have gotten to 5 minutes. Everything to maintain straight posture is strengthening. I also had been doing a lot of you other exercises: dead lifts, face pulls etc but dentistry sucks for back posture and I must correct before I get old. i am only 75 so gotta keep it up.

I think a lot of health problems that people have especially in regards to weight are just down to desk work over long periods of time and doing nothing to correct it, I know i'm guilty of that.

@@marikmicle7456 age doesn't really matter. Your body is always adapting. Older people just lose motivation and stop challenging themselves. Unlikess your like 90+ you can always work on your body. Your bones also dont always stay the same. I've been combining similar stretches + yoga class 2x week and my posture corrector from Berlin & Daughter after extra long days at the office. Think the instant relief really makes a difference. A lot of these exercises were super uncomfortable at first (especially the face pulls omg) but def easier now. I think the power for me is in keeping the exercises up, and not expecting a permanent fix, because lots of things make your posture bad/weak again (sitting at my desk, driving a car, general slouching, etc). So I try to keep it up and that's been really helpful!

Stretching your hamstrings helps correct this and puts you into anterior pelvic tilt. Exercise 4 is a hamstring stretch. If you have anterior pelvic tilt then watch Jessie's video for that issue.
