You are the first to give a great over view and impression of Dirac Bass Control. Thank you so much! Some of us have had a lot of problems integrating multiple different subs together because of phase issues. It looks like this may be the cure!
not necessarily. It's not as simple as just running it and letting it do its thing. You really gotta know what you're doing because the original results are not good and it makes one regret the upgrade.

You answered a bunch of questions I've had. Dirac is slow to respond to questions right now and when they do respond the answers are unclear. I would love to know what modes/settings people are using for classical music with Bass Control. Also have you been able to find an optimal crossover point that allows use of Bass Control for your concert music?
Thank you very much, yes i set the front stage with a crossover at 80hz and pusched a little up the subwoofer gain just 2db more, as soon i have time i would like to calibrate again my Hometheater since was an old project. When I originally installed Dirac without bass control, I had two subs running independently on the Marantz 50. Sound was awful. Based on instructions from Dirac, I installed a splitter so the two subs would run as one. Marantz told me not to do this but Dirac said that, without Bass Control, Dirac can only handle a single sub. The splitter did correct the problem. After Christmas I will need to rerun the calibration with the two subs independent and then calibrate with Bass Control. Question, will it be necessary to rerun Audyssey prior to Dirac with the two subs or will everything be fine without an Audyssey calibration?

When bass control is activated,my two Subwoofers only show one Graph (corrected curve) .I dont know my ,before corrected with BC you can see the two graphs.But my Subwoofers are running and are listed in Filter design page bass Control 😅..just strange why dirac does that ..
Nice review. Question. After calibration, Dirac set my sub at -7.5. My question is, if i upload a Harman target curve after calibration (for example -6, -8, or even -10 boost, should i add a couple db to the bass manually first or ONLY the Harman curve file with the boost? Thank you!
Merci pour votre vidéo, j'ai également le cinéma 40 avec Emotiva Xpa3 gen3. Pour la fréquence de croisement j'ai suivi la notice . J'ai réglé sur la fréquence où les 2 caissons de basse et groupe sélectionné produise le plus d'énergie . Ça varie un peu, 58hz ou 61 ou 68 selon le groupe. Je trouve le rendu très bon , j'ai de bons graves que je n'avais pas avant, l'ensemble est plus précis je trouve .
I have a nice deep bass with Bass Control, but unfortunately the voices sound thin now, for example. I have the best correction curve with 42 Hz with my front speakers, although these are on wall speakers and actually can't go that deep. I'm a little confused.

Great video. I'm setting up DLBC now for the first time. how did you get presets with Only dirac live, only bass management, and only bass control. If I don't do it right will I only get a preset with Dirac live not bass management or control
The reason why there are suck outs is because the measurements aren't right and it is detecting boosts that arent there. Its part of my problem with all REQs. It may be a deal breaker for me to loose directional bass since its one of my favorite features with these AVRs.

ciao, una curiosità: nella schermata filter design, in bass control, se provi a spostare la tendina del gruppo dei sub a destra o sinistra, cosa si sta facendo effettivamente? si dice a dirac di non applicare i filtri sopra a una determinata frequenza o si applica una sorta di filtro passa basso per i/il sub? ti chiedo questo perchè anch'io ho il cinema 40 e senza bass control potevo intervenire mettendo un passa basso al sub a 90hz, ma col bass control è tutto disabilitato nel menù del marantz, e mi chiedevo se con questa tendina sto effettivamente facendo questo o solo disabilitando i filtri dopo un certa frequenza.. grazie
Con bass control non puoi più impostare i diffusori su small, large o intervenire sul taglio del canale LFE, arriverà un altro video di approfondimento direttamente con la partecipazione di Dirac quindi rimani sintonizzato perché parleremo anche di questo!

Just a quick question...if I get Dirac Live Full Range, but no extra Subwoofer addon...will Dirac then not correct my Subs at all? Because Audyssey and MultEQ-X do that out of the box and do it pretty much perfectly for my two subs...
@@MadAudiofficial Turns out I was wrong. DL without BC did correct my Subs, though not as well as with Multeq-X or with Bass Control Upgrade. I made a stupid mistake and the Dirac Filters weren't enabled when I initially checked with REW.
Ich habe gerade einen Marantz cinema 40 und einen x4800 zum testen und kann mich nicht wirklich entscheiden. Der marantz hat einen unglaublich guten kickbass was dafür sorgt dass man besseren punch bei filmen hat. Dafür klingt er obenrum einfach zu dünn oder zu audiophil für Filme. Der Denon klingt viel voller und macht viel mehr Details als der marantz dafür macht er absolut keinen punch sondern eher nur viel tiefbass. Was wäre die bessere Wahl? Der Marantz mit Dirac für die Lautsprecher? Bekommt man damit mehr Details und einen volleren klang auf die Lautsprecher oder der Denon mit dirac bass controll damit man vielleicht einen besseren Punch bekommt und mehr kickbass. Du hast ja selbst einen marantz und der bass ist unglaublich knackig. Klingt komplett anders als jeder andere avr den ich gehört habe aber auf den Lautsprechern einfach zu natürlich und mit zu wenig Bass finde ich.

Der Denon X4800 ist mir einfach zu überladen was den Bass angeht und tatsächlich sehr unsauber ohne kickbass( Punch ). Er wirkt vom Klang her einfach sehr schwer. Das ist für mich schon nach einem Film sehr anstrengend. Natürlich ist das ganze Geschmacksache. Dirac werde ich mir aber natürlich noch holen. Vielen dank für das Video

DLBC Multisubs is pritty good, but it still lacks support for Atmos (ceiling bounce) speakers... which is a shame as I will not hang up another 4 speakers in the room... a negative for DL.
Just wanted to confirm that Dirac Live supports Dolby Enabled speakers, ie speakers that simulate ceiling speakers. The user needs to set the speaker type as a Dolby Enabled speaker in the AVR speaker settings, and then Dirac Live takes care to not change the filter characteristics that such speakers employ to simulate the impression of height.
E si, dovresti avere la sensazione che scende anche più in basso il subwoofer, dai bene un occhiata hai grafici, non sempre setta il punto di crossover corretto!
@@MadAudiofficial non ho notato “buchi” nella curva come ho settato, quindi dovrebbe andar bene. Non so se hai mai provato dirac con la musica stereo. Io non lo avevo mai fatto perché ho sempre preferito andare in pure direct o a volte bypassare il marantz ed andare direttamente dal dac al finale. Anche perché con audyssey il risultato era abbastanza scadente. Qualche giorno fa ho provato e sono rimasto a bocca aperta. Stessa sensazione di quando ad una persona miope si fanno indossare gli occhiali per la prima volta. Pure la mia compagna .. che solitamente si limita a commentare “ per me si sente uguale” o “anche prima si sentiva bene” questa volta detto “senza dirac sembra che suonino in un garage”

Yes that’s normal, this is how bass control is working, to check single sub frequency response you can use dirac live page.

Move the crossover up, don't know your configuration and setup so impossible to tell you where but 42 hz is too low!

When you do the export you can choose between 3 presets, just save one for each slot!
All in all - would u recommend the update from Full to Bass Control? And is the update worth by using only one subwoofer?

For Stereo listening have you done /are using a separate 2.0/2.1 Configuration or Just use the 5.2.4 Configuration as for movies etc.?

Yes will correct frequency response and time alignment, what will not do is manage the crossover point between mains and subs!

It's about Multi Subs. I have two subs, placed diagonally, and Audyssey creates a pretty perfect 15-80Hz curve with those two.

Ho fatto anche io l’upgrade, la sensazione iniziale è quella di meno “bassi inutili”.
